This show was terrible with consistency. In one scene Omni Man flies fast enough to create a nuclear explosion, in another scene he is caught by a big dumb monster which humans can easily keep track of, and in another scene he can’t even catch Cecil.
Cecil was teleporting. You can't beat a teleporter if they can move before you, and even then Cecil comments repeatedly about how close he's come to death while doing that stunt. And I think that he just barely dodged him the last time. Did he grab his ties just as he got away?
The fact that a human was able to react in time to Omni Man is stupid if he can fly fast enough to create a nuclear explosion. Cecil (or someone at the base) was pressing a button to teleport - ie, Omni Man was slow enough to react to.

Invincible has some pretty incredible voice performances too.
I enjoyed elements of Invincible but it kind of lost me when it just became 'slightly edgier DC animated universe' stuff. It didn't need to be full The Boys but I found it much more compelling when it was dealing with stuff like the logistics of not-SHIELD making depressingly pragmatic plans for dealing with out of control supes.
it gets better that was most of the first vol and a little of the second, e.g. robot doesn't get a body until after Nolan leaves earth, but shit escalates a lot and not shield is a big part of the story

I need to reread the comics, I skipped most of it except for anything with omni man and the viltrumites. I consider that stuff the main story and everything else boring filler.
This is actually a stealth Cinemaphile thread. The show can eat a dick. The concise however are some of the most fun I've had. I especially hate that they code jk Simmons for omni man. It sets the precedent that he's always a scary evil butthole, when in the comics he had a crises of faith and came back as one of the most wholesome father figures. Hell I consider omni man a more interesting protagonist over mark.

well he's not going to wake up one evening and think "well, time to be evil, first step is taking out the league". it's more like giving him oversight, he can't just do whatever he wants because he knows he might have to answer to them. if he kills someone in a moment of weakness, or just starts killing people instead of capturing them, he knows the league will probably find out and do something about it. they're an obstacle for him in case he ever loses control, but of course he's too paranoid to put a team together without also having a way to stop them.

The real question is why would Cecil treat Omniman after his fight with The Guardians when he was searching for a plan to kill him? Why didn't he try to use that furry cat who managed to almost kill Invincible with his axe? was it the weapon or the cat was strong enough to open Invincible's stomach?

Mark was grievously injured, though not as badly in the comic. The cat is a warlord from another planet who seeks death through battle but is, like, cursed with ever-increasing strength. He lobs himself at the interim-emperor of the Viltrumites to die honorably on the battlefield.
the one thing I thought was dumb as this show was homeland beating up mark at the end. Like okay you told him earth has to accept joining the empire and there is nothing they can really do about it.
