I finally rewatched Temple of Doom and it is clearly the worse Indy flick of the first four.

I finally rewatched Temple of Doom and it is clearly the worse Indy flick of the first four. I don't count the new woke one.
Why does this one not hold up yet the others do?

Its a prequel, only boomers like it for some reasons.
    The actual trilogy is
    >Ark
    >Crusade
    >Skull
    Rating
Crusade > Ark > *power gap* > Skull

Fuck no, what sort of retardation is this? Temple>Raiders>>>>>>>>>Last crusade (highly overrated)>child's funeral>crystal skull>catshit with tapeworms in it>dial of destiny.

Last Crusade is full of lame ass Marvel-tier jokes. It’s too goofy compared to the others. It picks up a lot with the tank scene and the grail at the end though

Finally, someone said it. It's a very boring movie. Temple is a lot of fun with lots of adventure and twists

What don't you like about it? You could make the argument that it is the weakest of the three, it is by no means the worst when compared to garbage like skull and dial.

      >What don't you like about it?
      The main female character
the asian kid is annoying (funny at times)
they play the theme song every other minute
wayyyyy too much action going on in every scene
the villain was a bit over the top
it was just a clusterfuck to make people not think

story was written by George Lucas alone and had some idea in his head of imitating horror B-movies and giving Spielberg a child to work with like he did in ET, Spielberg thankfully was not one of those israelites and was fucking the annoying woman, but this meant her role was nepotism

Skull is half Indy typical adventure, (second) half family movie.
In the end he marry with the love of his life and he is happy he had a legacy (his son).
Keep in mind less than 10 years later the indiana jones of videogames (nathan drake) wasnt allowed to have a male heir.
Its a nice goodbye to a badass character.

What is temple about? An action shitshow full of jungle naggers?

the real truth is that raiders is the only truly great movie, all others are just a retread/cash grab.
the real enemy here is harrison ford who just keeps saying yes for some reason.

The quality of the Indy movies is actually release order, making Temple the second best.

    Imagine being this wrong.

I can see a case for someone preferring Raiders over Temple but Crusade and Crystal Skull are both vastly inferior films on every level. And I say this as someone who likes all 4.

I'm not even gonna watch the Disney shit.

I like Temple of Doom in that it is the most "exotic" of the original trilogy. It's nice that they made a movie that didn't feature Nazis as the villains. To me it makes the Indiana Jones mythos seem bigger; he was travelling the world, etc. It is perhaps the weakest of the original trilogy, but easily a better movie than Crystal Skull or Dial of Destiny.

It's certainly the weakest of the three, but it's still fantastic. The biggest problems for me is that it's clear in Raiders of the Lost Ark that Indy is full atheist/empiricist and doesn't believe in anything supernatural in the slightest, he just likes historical artifacts. That doesn't make much sense when just a few years prior he romped through India stealing magic stone from voodoo priests who pull mens hearts out and walk around with it still beating.
Find me a prequel that doesn't do this to some extent though. That's its only problem, other than that this film is stellar.

watch it again and listen to how many times they play his theme song. They force it into every scene. In Raiders it was done at the right times not to dilute it

Last crusade is like a parody movie on the level of “scary movie”

I don't know why they even bothered calling it a prequel, it's pointless and has no effect on the film's timeline other than creating inconsistency.

Why do folks here pretend to hate dial of destiny? Sure it's not the best one but it's definitely in the top 3 best. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a fantastic actress and was great in it. I hope she continues on the Indiana Jones legacy.
