I don't get it either. I don't think Acolyte is a great show and episode 3 really did suck ass, but just about every Star Wars show has had similarly low moments if not lower, and we all know about The Rise of Skywalker.

What are you asking? Why are the views so much lower than anything before? Because that's the only difference I see. And that's because people have finally had enough and are no longer giving things the benefit of the doubt just because it's SW. But if you're talking about people openly complaining and talking about how trash this series is, one I'd say, they have always been complaining about Disney Star Wars, And the other I think the Acolyte has had less filter, less supervision than anything that came before it.

The Acolyte is the worst in the sense of being the garbage that finally crosses the line into "B Movie" territory. It's actually something worse than "woke" or canon-destroying. It's goofy. Joe Normal watching Disney+ probably won't care about wokeness or deep lore. He probably WILL care that the ritual that the episode was building up to is this goofy girls' summer camp bullshit instead of anything even vaguely resembling an actual religious ritual, much less a ritual by these dark and mysterious witches.
Contrast that with how Dune 1's Sardaukar chant practically had its own fanbase.
