I hate all anime I've ever come in contact with an all people who watch it should be frickin gassed immediately,

but people keep insist that it can sometimes be kino and point to these two as their main examples.

Is it true? Are they worth watching or is it more weeb shit that's gonna make me nuke Japan a 3rd time?

And are there others that are genuine kino?

I like Akira but it’s a manga the size of several phonebooks compressed into a two hour narrative so it’s a bit nonsensical. I thought GiTS was pretty slow and boring outside of a couple cool scenes

You had to be there for Akira. In 1990, when I first saw it, it was fricking amazing. Ghost in Shell is ok, but it was already part of the first wave of slop. A better example is Cyber City Oedo 808. Basically 80s and early 90s anime. They were still experimenting then. The rest is souless weaponized slop.

You know, a lot of it is, sure. But there was something new and fresh about it, and people took risks. That led to some good shit. And not all of it was entirely Japanese either. But that was basically 40 years ago.

Ghost is worth watching but watch it in Japanese with subtitles. The English dub loses a lot of the atmosphere of the movie.

That's cope. Changing the voices to screeching children doesn't automatically make a movie better.

people who read the manga itself are pretty iffy on it, because its huge, 6 books, like a thousand pages. Every character you see in the movie has enough pages to be its own movie. Its like turni;g lord of the rings, plus the hobbit into a 30 minute short. Its done well, but when you see the clowns getting like 15 minites screen time, it might be disapointing.

99.99% of Manga/Anime is absolute dog shit. I know people say "90% of anything is dog shit" but anime is even worse.
You really only need to watch and/or read 3 or 4 Japanese Cartoons and then just stop because it just loops after that.

        >noooooo not my precious cartoons from Japan
Really just watch 4 or 5 anime movies or read 4 or 5 manga and just call it a day afterwards. the entire country has nothing else to say.

No, he's basically right. Varying tastes will mean there's a little wiggle room but really, there's maybe 20 or so total that are considered the greats and are the only ones that get recommended. Just look at the posts in this thread: everyone is only recommending one to three at a time.

99% of the tranime i was tricked into watching was juvenile cookie cutter garbage but Akira was actually ok. Ghost in the shell was boring ass shit tho, something like some fat smelly nerd would call "deep"

Spriggan is a mix of both and it's not very well known, psychic power villain, super soldier programs, brainwash into killing machines. The way the action flows it feels very western. This part really sells it

Have you tried Boku no Pico? It's pretty hard hitting stuff about the human condition and I believe it's more important today than when it was released.

    Anime sucks.
Akira is not interesting. The plot is not interesting. The animation is full of lazy colorization mistakes.
Have not seen any other Anime, since Akira is allegedly the best it has to offer, and it sucks.
