mirrors our world where people went from just being naked to highly prudish. falls flat because we never see the cultural context behind such fashion in TLOK, so it's only there for setting dressing which makes it feel hollow. Style without substance, which is tbf the common sticking point for 1920's/victorian/steampunk/pre-modern vibe in a non-earth setting; it's there to give vibes, not because it organically occurred.

Eh, it sorta makes sense, considering it's in dieselpunk times.

Op is a moron but Asia adopted more western clothing trends as it modernized abd Korra was a blatant caricature of 1920s Asia hence why the clothing anesthetics from the early 1900s was borrowed

That’s how real life fashion works. It’s not always a linear line of least amount of skin showing -> most amount of skin showing, instead it moves more in cycles. In many cultures of our irl 19th or 18th centuries, it was perfectly acceptable and normal to go publicly swimming or bathing in full nude.

Public nude swimming was considered perfectly ordinary for prepubescent children well into the 20th century and for private swimming areas until the mid-century.

Regency era dresses and outdoors wear were seen as scandalously revealing by the late Victorian era. Also going by OP's pic, Asami is wearing less than Mai on the whole and Mako's trunks are shorter than Zuko's while also being skintight.

The lightning bending power generation always gets me. I don’t have a problem with lightning bending getting more common or using bending for generating power, but literally any other method would have been more efficient. Water bending to turn turbines, fire handing to heat water, earth bending to turn a wheel running a generator. Anything would have been more efficient. A prized skill 70 years ago turning into a minimum for shitty menial labor feels like commentary that didn't land.

Also yeah there really should have been more racial tension between fire handlers and earth benders. The end of a 100 year long colonization/occupation being the creation of a new country wouldn’t have made both equally miserable.

Bending in the Korra is approached completely differently than in the original show. Feats of bending were toned down so Lightning bending's autistic requirements were most likely nerfed along with everything else. And the Racial tension was basically Bender-NonBender. 100 years is a long time to forget old wounds especially when most of the original victims are dead by that point

Wait, did you think the 100 year war happened 100 years ago? No it's called that because it lasted 100 years and ended when Aang defeated ozai. The youngest victims of the war are still alive. Litterly every person in the world in Korra still has some connection to the war
