I have a dark, foreboding dread in my heart. We were so close to superhero movies finally dying out.

I have a dark, foreboding dread in my heart. We were so close to superhero movies finally dying out. They couldn't get anything right. Now this one is coming, and I have a bad feeling it's going to save the genre.

the same way Barbie saved stupid IPs that shouldn't be movies

WB managed to completely bungle Barbie's success. Only WB could make 1 billion dollars off a movie and somehow still be in dire financial straits.

Even if it does "well", Deadpool is a type of capeshit parody so it will push the genre away too because it makes stuff such as MCU seem even more ridiculous than it already is

      ???
But that's the whole reason the MCU is popular, it's always laughing at itself. People have been complaining about this type of humor for like 10 years. If Deadpool does well it means there's still an appetite for more humor like that and future MCU movies will be unbearable with the amount of jokes.

The MCU has one joke here and there but it has a pompous let's save le world bs about it that all generations except for a dwindling number of capeshitters find cringe

it will make a billion, easily, but the next Marvel slop will still flop.
this is R18, has Deadpool and Hugh Actman + a million cameos from 30 years of capeshit movies.
The only way Marvel can make another it is getting RDJ or Evans back

I have never watched any of the Deadpool films and I certainly have no interest whatsoever in watching Deadpool 3. I think Deadpool 3 will briefly revive capeshit, but after Deadpool 3, capeshit's decline will continue.

Deadpool & Wolverine will do well but it won’t save capeshit. It’s a holdover of an earlier era of superhero movies that gave fans what they actually wanted with faithful adaptations of fan favorite characters. It’s an anomaly in the current era of D-list characters no one asked for.

I wouldn't call Deadpool a fan favorite character. It was the movies that made him popular, just like Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's definitely gonna make money but it will nothing more than a brief respite for Disney. Everything they have planned for after this movie is the same garbage they've making for the past few years. Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four and the X-Men reboot are all "female focused". That Captain America movie is a full on shitshow. They're still doing a fricking Ironheart TV show as if even a single person in the entire planet gives a shit about that character.

It’ll delay the death of capeshit by a few years stuff like thunderbolts and captain america nwo will kill off any momentum and goodwill this movie brings back.

But Disney plays the long game and these movies that they've been working on for a while will just be considered acceptable sacrifices while they pivot towards making more movies like Deadpool. It's a weird situation where it's too late to stop the trainwreck but in a few years the landscape will look completely different and they can recover.

        >while they pivot towards making more movies like Deadpool
They're not going to do that. They have no plans of changing the direction or tone of their content despite what Iger and Feige have said in some interviews, it's all just damage control. They're still putting women front and center in both Fantastic Four and X-Men. They fricking genderswapped the Silver Surfer. These are projects that started development AFTER Quantumania and The Marvels and She-Hulk and all the other shit that failed. They're not course correcting anything, they're just slowing down output and hoping audiences will come back just because they miss it.

          Anonymous

These movies have been in development for a long time. It will be years before we see the results of any possible course correction. And they didn't genderswap the Silver Surfer, they simply used Shalla-Bal instead of Norrin Radd, you fricking fake comic fan that only cares about what your favorite youtuber tells you to get mad about. Complaining about women in FF and X-Men is all it takes to out you.
