Have you tired the rest of the Ghibli library? That would be a good start, they're all pretty innocent and wholesome. Also Disney stuff and light-hearted comedies.

Pretty much anything Disney, Disney-like, or early Pixar.

    >or 'sad'

How not 'sad'? No sad at all, including things like UP? Or just nothing like Grave of the Fireflies-type sad?

As for live-action, and if she likes animal movies, then you might watch my personal favorite comfy-kino Homeward Bound.

    Also define "sad"

How do you define 'sad'? Like, bawl your eyes out sad, or just a bit sad?
Mamoru Hosoda movies are similar to Ghibli movies, only focused more on family relationships. Some of the movies can be a bit sad though.
    "Mirai" is my favorite.

"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" is one of their best, but it is a bit sad towards the end.

I would probably avoid "Wolf Children" if you don't to both be crying because its a movie about a mother and her children, and it has some sad and sentimental moments.

    Violet Evergarden
My mom cried like 3 times. Netflix has the entire series+special+2 movies. My all time favourite series, nothing will ever top it.

She wasn't a fan of Paprika, too artsy and confusing. I was going to show her Deep Blue but then i remembered the rapes.
Spirited Away was the first animated film we watched as a family in theatres when it released, so we watched Mononoke recently and she liked it.
She liked Wolf Mother but it was kind of slow.

Your Name and A Silent Voice will be next, they're some of my favorites but she doesn't 'get' japanese high school romance dramas.
Honorable mentions to these 2, very touching:

You could try series like Mushashi, little witch academia, Frieren

I put this film on after last weekend’s Ghibli thread. Watched it with two friends. They were extremely angry with me for putting it on and have not responded to my texts since.

Why’d you recommend such a gay movie, bros? Maybe literal babies would like this idk.

Quite the opposite. You'll understand when you grow-up. I felt the same way as you when I was a kid. As an adult I fully appreciate it and consider it in my top 20 movies.

I guess you can go for fantasy, comedy, slice of life and romance:

    The NeverEnding Story
    Groundhog Day
    Linda Linda Linda (BIG rec)
    Rushmore
    Isle of Dogs
    Back to the Future trilogy
    ET the Extra Terrestrial
    Amelie
500 Days of Summer (semi sad, but still optimistic I think).
Hitch (very underrated romcom, big rec).
    Pretty in Pink
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (big rec)

Hope that you can use some of these recs man!

All good animated films but be aware the middle two movies have very minimal dialogue so it might put you off.
