It's not made up. Used to live with my dad the guy is blind to everything around him, he will not notice anything happening or detect an emotion / mood except you specifically tell him. I mean he will in time, but it's very hard for him for some reason.

My friend is an empath. She didn’t even know it until two separate people on two separate occasions told her throughout the years. But this idea that it’s just people that sense emotions is dumb.
She understands emotions like everyone else, the only difference is she tends to feel how the person feels on a deeper level than most people. It’s not a big deal, she just needs to be careful of what movies/songs/media she’s exposed to or it can effect her all day. She’s not a b***h or emotional, so not sure where people are getting that. I should warn her though, it seems the word has been co-opted by weirdos and being hated on by other weirdos. I’m highly aware of peoples emotions, but I’m definitely not an empath.
