I always thought her dying out of nowhere in such an ordinary way was what made it interesting. she wasn't murdered by some evil samurai or some shit, so it lets zoro focus entirely on his promise instead of looking for revenge or whatever.
I understand how an ordinary death plus + never seeing her corpse + tashigi looking like her might leave people to wonder if there's something more to it, but for me it would only take away from zoro's character if kuina turned out to be alive.
