More writers need to adopt this mindset, if delivered with absolute sincerity then even the most ridiculous shit can be accepted.

Nobody would mind all the DEI stuff if instead of saying
    >It was time, inclusion is needed for this series
    They just said
    >Oh yeah they're from the remnants of Minta Mulla's great Trade Caravan that passed through this region 450 years ago. Many were left behind and formed sub communities within the kingdom, specifically in the Donkurt region.
    It would be accepted more.

Making random lore changes to insert more Black folk is soulless

Making your protagonist’s best friend an obese alien who runs a 1950s themed diner is sovlful

Wouldn’t expect a mental midget like you to understand

You can easily insert things without stepping on existing lore. Fictional worlds have <1% of the detail the real world has. Just insert things here and there to help flesh it out
        >But there weren't black people before, and how come we never heard of this region?
        >Well this region was a poorer one, and its inhabitants tended to keep with themselves. However due to the stability brought by the actions of the protagonists in the previous film, movement within the kingdom is safer and more frequently seen.

Improving the writing is a good move, injecting brown people into an existing IP for diversity’s sake isn’t.

                >for diversity’s sake
The purpose is irrelevant. Maybe it's because mr Finberg wants a broader target audience, maybe the writer actually wants to incorporate some not widely known cool story from native American mythology. My point is that diversity in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing. It all comes down to how ome handles the subject.

OG BSG was very diverse. They made Tigh a white guy for the new one for Pete's sake. And Boomer going from black guy to Korean woman is a lateral move

Minta Mulla was a King from the southern realm of Baginda, renowned for his martial conquests of the surrounding regions. After conquering many of the southern realms he embarked on a great trade caravan that would stretch across much of the known world. Initially started as a way for him to see the world and to spread word of his glories, it quickly brought the attention of the other realms who before thought little of the south. Though his caravan ended in disaster with the king going missing, the world became a much more interconnected place with the Minta Trail being left in his wake, serving as a consistent route for merchants and travelers from all over.

This is a direct result of DEI hires. Of course the 20 yo black woman from the ghetto that got a gibsmedat decree has zero interest in Star Wars and the like. Of course she has nothing but contempt for the fact that instead of being given a project about the shit she likes, Disney has her write the 25th entry in a franchise that has been running since the fricking 70s and is all about white boys going on adventures. It was never about her and she hates it. Imagine getting hired to write the reboot of fricking Glee.

Of course they fought. After the Caravan suffered mishaps crossing the Donkurt Mountains many of its soldiers and followers were elected to stay behind so the caravan could continue. Tensions were incredibly high as the newcomers were forced to settle the frontiers of the region. But after their assistance in the great Reptoid incursion 225 years ago they have become more well liked by the locals, allowing the communities to interconnect.

    >But then a phantom menace struck. George Lucas would periodically check in on the status of the games his company was making, lending creative input and advice. The developer I talked to sighs, and agitatedly says, “In one viewing of Fracture, [Lucas] said it looked really good, but he didn’t like [Mason Briggs’] name. We’re like, ‘What do you mean, George?’ He responded to the effect of, ‘It doesn’t really fit. When he jumps on stuff, he moves pretty fast. I like B.J. Dart.’

    >“So everybody’s like, ‘No, he’s gotta be f---ing with us.’ He’s absolutely not. So when something like that happened – in the middle of the campaign, mind you – we have to go back through that entire naming convention again… from scratch.” From that second session, Jet Brody was born. Coincidentally. Jett is the name of Lucas’ son.

    >A similar situation arose with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’s protagonist, Starkiller. “[That name] was only supposed to be a nickname or call sign, not a proper name from the beginning,” a former LucasArts employee says. The development team hoped that Lucas would give Vader’s apprentice a Darth moniker, which at the time, was something that didn’t happen often.

    >“The team threw a Hail Mary to George, saying the game would have more credibility if the apprentice had a ‘Darth’ title,” a Force Unleashed team member says. Lucas agreed that this situation made sense for Sith royalty, and offered up two Darth titles for the team to choose from. “He threw out ‘Darth Icky’ and ‘Darth Insanius.’ There was a pregnant pause in the room after that. People waiting for George to say ‘just kidding,’ but it never comes, and he just moved on to another point.”
