I know she's strong and has super powers, but was she always able to go toe to toe with Homelander? I didn't read the comics.

In the comics she got jibbed by him in a second.

In the comics canon they established it was said Homelander, Maeve and Black Noir were the top tier and in a league of their own. But when it finally came to their fight, she unapologetically jobbed completely to Homelander. But Homelander jobbed completely to Black Noir. The biggest complaint about the comics was the powerlevels were so inconsistent in the canon with zero explanation. And the entire premise was the Supes were supposed to be a genuine potential threat to Humanity but they all were shit, even the heavy hitters. Stormlander and the equivalent of the Avengers could be harmed by freaking construction tools.

That's pretty common in comics, though, right?

Yes but they set up the powerlevels in their own canon then ignored them completely to the point where the central premise of the entire plot was undermined.

      >Stormlander and the equivalent of the Avengers could be harmed by freaking construction tools.
That was due to the compound the boys took, they explicitly said it out them above 90% of supes.
Speaking of power levels, Malchemico or whatever was his name was pretty broken, hadn't it been for that situational weakness I think he could potentially 1 on 1 Honelander.
      >But Homelander jobbed completely to Black Noir.
That's exaggerating, they basically kill each other. BN survives but barely.

Yes but not supposedly the Seven, whom they claimed over and over could effortlessly wipe the floor with the Boys. And Payback was supposed to be just below the Seven, if not their direct competition. And Stormlander was the original Homelander. And even if the Boys were 90%+ how can Butcher's ordinary crowbar smash Stormlanders face but Maeve's ordinary sword shatter on Homelander's face. No consistency.

          >Yes but not supposedly the Seven, whom they claimed over and over could effortlessly wipe the floor with the Boys.
Just factoring their heavy hitters, the simulation clearly says so. Anyone but those three is fodder. And Jack from Mars is killed before he can use his magic word.
          >And Payback was supposed to be just below the Seven, if not their direct competition.
Those were the guys w/ storefront, right? They were obviously a bunch of shitters save for him.
          >And Stormlander was the original Homelander.
He fought like a moron. Once he saw they could actually harm him he should have just zapped them from above. But 1 on 1 he could kill all of them easily; he hospitalised the female who was their strongest member.
          >And even if the Boys were 90%+ how can Butcher's ordinary crowbar smash Stormlanders face but Maeve's ordinary sword shatter on Homelander's face.
I assume the gap was THAT big.
          >No consistency.
Remember two things: most of the characters don't have any feat, also because if they fight they are usually instakilled, and most of their reputations are based on made up facts and they actually have 0 combat experience. That's why I say Malchemical could fight HL, we actually see what he can do and seems pretty op.
The boys isn't really about power levels, there's just two or three heavy hitters, then the boys, then everyone else.
That and Ennis is a fricking hack, of course.

the sword Maeve hit Homelander with was a prop, he even mocks her and calls her a stupid b***h for trying to attack him with it.

              Anonymous

It was a prop for her but it was a real sword. You even see it managed to scar Homelander's face. The point is how mere steel welded by Maeve can just give a scratch to Homelander but ordinary steel can cave in Stormfront's face when Butcher was doing it. Stormfront and Homelander were supposed to be equals and Butcher is not supposed to be even close to Maeve's strength.

i always assumed Noir won because he's a goddamn lunatic and all he ever does is think about violently murdering Homelander. that, and ways he can get the greenlight to do so. he was too laser focused on his purpose to be stopped by someone who – deep down – knew that their life was irreparably fricked the second they stepped outta that room, regardless of if they won the fight or not. Noir just wanted it more, way more.

but nah, Maeve got washed in the comics. i was real worried she was gonna get obliterated during that season finale. lol

She was the second strongest supe, but was scared shitless by Homelander. It's when Homelander got gank'd in Herogasm that she found out he's not so God-like afterall. Maeve took a gamble and almost won lol

      That's the liberal reboot

In reality, Wonder Woman was nowhere fricking near Superman in terms of strength. Sometime in the 90s they developed the DC Trinity (Supes, Bats, and Wondy). She did not belong in that tier. So she's been getting feminist power boosts ever since.
