Not morally righteous, but working across a pretty wide array of industries, including government, seeing skilled, talented, and qualified people with great credentials get passed over for someone's lazy, incompetent, drug-addled relative or college roommate pisses anyone off. Just because nepotism/favoritism is a reality of life doesn't mean people have to like it or think it's a good thing.

I thought either the egg creature would kill Psychotic's brother and he would be happy because his abuser is dead, or they would vow to be good parents for the egg because their dad or mom was abusive or something..

I guess Smiling Friends episodes having poor resolutions is like a running gag at this point but this one's was so weak.

The vow to be good parents, yeah; but the abuse theme didn't show up there.

It probably had the best pacing of the season. Each scene built on the last so the situation escalated, and it helped that we saw Pim's stress building up over time.

Most episodes struggle with that. This latest one had a pretty good idea for the brothers' rising conflict, but the pacing was awkward with some really rushed exposition about the mother and money and drugs. Doing more "show, don't tell" probably would've helped.

The message for people like Dr. Psychotic is that nobody will respect or accept your creative dream unless its actually successful. People are results oreinted and they dont care how mich effort you put into something creative if you are failing. The creators of the show are youtubers, they probably got this same sentiment from their parents about making cartoons while being broke. Does this mean that the show wants you to think psychotic is right and doug is wrong? No, but understand this perspective

        >Began really thinking he was hot shit

        >Now he just streams videos of himself gaming in total silence to draw in enough simpbuxx to pay rent rather than get a job
The real key is that unlike the DSPs of the world he made genuinely good content for a while there.
His counter monkey series was one of the first “D&D is actually kind of cool and not gay” series that made its way on the internet, for example.

How was the brother animated? It looked too imperfect to be rotoscoping, especially with how the colors and outlines got blended together when there was too much motion in one spot, and the frame resetting every couple of seconds.

      >Introduce a mad scientist with world domination plans
      >Immediately drop that idea and he's just a generic loser with a nerdy hobby
What was even the point of having him talk about conquering the world? They didn't have any jokes playing off that. Are they trying to pull a Rian Johnson with subverting the audience's expectations just by setting up ideas and doing nothing with them?

autistic nerds in their bedrooms escape their real, fruitless lives by building big castles of delusion to hide in. He was never a mad scientist. >Seems like the message is to get a real fricking job and not wasting all your time doing dumb shit
Didn't he in the end archived, creating life with his experiments? Maybe the drug addicted brother should learn about being passionate about your interest.

I'm really glad I got to see Marc M. design a character. It was just missing his iconic mexican voice

I really hate to feed the schizo but the show is starting to feel a little preachy and formulaic, it reminds me of what happened with rick and morty but as long as the show doesn’t take a nosedive like in rick and morty’s season 3, I’m sure things will be okay.

      >the show is starting to feel a little preachy and formulaic
The ending literally told you there's no moral to be found in this episode. Am I replying to the schizo?

I don't mind shows having good morals. I don't get why millenials hate them so much

The pacing of the episode would have been greatly improved if they cut the Jared Fogle bit at the start and used that runtime to flesh out the ending more

Yeah, the entire episode felt off, like it was half an episode, I was expecting them to do more with pim and the brother at the construction site and have charlie take professor psychotic somewhere in addition to the resturant, it also felt like they brought up the painkillers thing last second, like they wanted to make the brother look like a dick near the end when the whole episode was more just showing professor psychotic’s flaws.

Yeah the brother storyline did not have enough time devoted to it.

I actually just checked the runtime, charlie and pim also only start helping the brothers’ relationship halfway through the episode, which would make sense if there was a subplot in addition, but no, the entire first half of the episode is dedicated to build up.

The argument between the brothers also takes up over a minute of runtime which doesn’t help things considering the episode is only 11 minutes long, meaning a 1/10th of the episode is lost to the gag, and there was a few minutes of screentime before then just about getting assigned the job, with the fat guys fighting over ham and jared fogle bits taking more time away from the actual plot.

That's exactly why the episode is fricked. It's not them writing like they have a time limit, but that they deliberately gave themselves one by adding in filler.

I'm conflicted on the runtime. Some episodes feel too rushed, but I feel like the usual 20 minutes are way too much for the show's style.
