It's kind of stupid to not eat plants because she loves them so much because the meat she eats would eat plants anyway which amounts to the same. Or if she eats carnivores they would eat herbivores which eat plants. Fruitarian might make more sense because fruit can be eaten without harming plants.

          ?????
          >semen
Oh, right, you're just here for the porn.

          Elaborate?

Ivy really wanted babies and was going through her womanly baby phase. So she kidnapped a guy to milk and make plant babies. And then skipped town. It was revealed that she learned to make stable plant clones of herself. The comics claim she married the guy that became Swamp Thing and died in the explosion that created him. The Green Ivy you see for the rest of the series is a clone she sent to keep Harley company.

Ivy didn't milk him to make plant babies. She's infertile.
          She just grew plant babies.
He existed as a cover story.

That's the point. She's Joker's mental case Robin that heads-over-heels for him. THAT'S THE POINT. It's what makes the dynamic work, because it's abnormal and unhinged as frick.

Yeah it’s true, sure it’s an abusive relationship but it’s but one that’s infinitely more dynamic than Pam and Harle’s have ever been. Speaks volumes that despite the rotten reason they initially were written as couple no has successfully improved it.

I used to like it because it's extremely hot, but now it got stale.

Question. How do we fix Harlivy? They were good once upon a time. Personally I think it's important that Ivy wears the pants in the relationship and Harley's the one who follows her leave. It makes more sense than Ivy just going along with Harley's dumb little whims.

        Anonymous

Show the relationship as flawed and toxic.

Ivy is still a misanthrope at heart and keeps Harley around like some sort of pet in order to trick herself into thinking she's not as horrible as she actually is.

Harley thinks herself independent and free just because she's not with the Joker anymore, while in reality all she did was shackle herself to someone else who doesn't really care about her, highlighting Harley's character flaws.

I'm not asking for them to horribly abuse each other like IRL lesbians do, but as it stands, their relationship is sanitized, glorified, and depicted as perfect le wholesome chungus yas queen slay lesbians with zero personality.

I really don't think it should be fixed or used as it is essentially a sum negative for Poison Ivy's character, personality and usage as a character as it reduces her to an accessory for Harley.

Do you think Ivy could somehow use her plant abilities to save or heal Gwen during the incident?

      Anonymous

I doubt she could heal a broken neck, but she could probably bloom some large, soft flowers to cushion Gwen's fall, or use some vines to grab her mid-fall without causing whiplash.
The schtick is whether or not Ivy's "rehabilitated" enough to willingly help save a potential romantic rival.

She still has her hypnotic pheromones doesn’t she? Couldn’t she use those to convince Gwen that she isn’t in love with Peter?
Also I’m imagining Spectacular Gwen but in college for this because she’s my favorite version

          Anonymous

Even if she does, gaslighting someone into thinking they don't love another isn't a particularly heroic thing to do, and it's the sort of thing Pete would lose his shit over. Not just because it's Gwen but also because it means Pam's still using her powers for personal gain at the expense of others.

            Anonymous

True true. Maybe saving Gwen is a major turning point for her or we combine it a little with that Gwen in a wheelchair au where she acts fast enough to save her life but Gwen’s spine is still damaged enough to leave her legs non functional

Also what do you think Pam’s alternative marvel origin could be? Because I could see Oscorp having some connection to the experiment that mutated her. I also think she might be heavily motivated to save Doctor Connors since she sees him as a fate that could’ve been her if she was less lucky

              Anonymous

I don't think you'd need to cripple Gwen to make something like this work. Could just save her and have her as a romantic rival for Pete's affections, allowing for some extra conflict between the characters.

As for Pam's alternate Marvel origin, instead of leaning on Oscorp, I actually prefer the Doctor Connors angle. She could be Connors' lab assistant so she's present when Peter goes down to his lab in the Florida Everglades. She helps Pete cook up the first batch of the serum that temporarily cures Connors but over the course of the story she gets hit with the stuff too, and mixing that with the flora in the Everglades causes her to develop her powers, even if Peter only finds out about it after returning to NYC.

                Anonymous

Fair enough and could also be a cool way to kickstart her hatred of Oscorp with her realizing the pollution they’re causing in Florida and deciding to kill the snake at the head in New York which is coincidentally where Peter lives

                >Pam has a personal vendetta against Norman because of how much pollution Oscorp is responsible for.
Now I wanna see Pam having to interact and play nice with good guy, sin-free Norman.

                Anonymous

Personally I prefer plausible deniability Norman. He knows he’s bad, she knows he’s bad, Peter knows, but they can’t do anything without evidence

                Anonymous

That sounds fun too, to see Pam struggle between actually acting like a hero or giving into her desire to save the Green and giving Norman yet another avenue through which to frick up Peter's life some more.

Yeah. And given how malicious Gobby and the others can be I could easily see Norman arranging for the creation of some Captain Planet esque villains to drive Pam over the edge

Is it supposed to be an amalgam universe? Because I'm partial to the idea of Peter being in DC. Born in New York, but moving to Gotham afterwards, either because his aunt and uncle are there, or because he got into Gotham University.

If the Clone Ivy thing turned out to be canon - Harley would have been covering it up for decades & then her, original Ivy, and Joker would have been pulling the wool over Batman's eyes for decades too. To a point Harley was even able to enter the Justice League. The final punchline to Punchline's character is Harley returning to Joker & punching her in the face after a massive betrayal to the League. True Ivy could easily have broken everyone out of Arkham & other prisons for decades whilst never even being in Gotham. Possibly not even in the United States. Just a compound in South America where every plant nearby is a sentry/guard to protect real Ivy. An actual fortress with a standing army designed to fight supers.

I had an idea for how the Ivy clone thing might get exposed - one time one of the female blonde leaguers had her hair in twintails for some reason in Gotham - maybe Lady Blackhawk cause of mutual age/tastes. Could even be a new character or just a random girl with blonde twintails. Anyone one day this woman encounters a clone Ivy who is about to explode into a pile of flowers, vines, & leaves. Clone Ivy isn't following orders to go kill so & so for environmentalism by x time so she begins deteriorating & whilst sick as hell she starts looking for Harley who is off doing League shit. Sees blonde twintails and in her deteriorated state thinks she is talking to Harley. Other girl is confused but comforts Ivy since she appears extremely sick right before she dies. Regardless of who - the girl keeps the flowers, vines, & leaves that get left over and the next time a 'clone' pops up she gives the still somehow alive fauna to new Ivy and Ivy just screams & collapses only to wakeup with the previous clone's memories + her own. At this point since Ivy would have collapsed in a public place during a incident - Batman is now involved & immediately realizes Harley should have known about this or spoken about it. But suddenly he can't find Harley at all.

He was plowing her so I'm pretty sure he saw her naked
And yeah, she was used as an experiment. He convinced her with honey laced words taking full advantage of her.

When she realized he was going to kill her, tried to kill her and it wasn't an accident and the full extent of what was done to her body she had a total psychotic break.

But she did end up as a tiny 15/10 instathot and lured men to her by the truck load which did wonders for her ego.
Imagine the mid wallflower, which would be funny if that was her first villain name before everyone else labeled her poison ivy, becoming hot almost instantly and having power over people and plantlife.

But her future of being a tenured professor and retiring to her families farm and having multiple children was stolen from her.
She also lost the child that she was a few months pregnant with and thought would be what made her professor finally want to settle down with her.
Her first act is vengance on Woodrue. The Floronic Man. A swamp tier and nigh cosmic tier villain.

Giving her such a basic simple human background and showing how far she fell into the monster she is now would be interesting.

true it is a cycle based on what a particular writer likes or enjoys, like how Sandman became a villain again or how Boomerang got a big push as a major supporting character in Spider-man then died.

G Willow Wilson has been alluding to it in the solo. She tries to talk to Batman the second time they meet into joining him. He spergs out when she starts cuddling him and claims she was manipulating him, but she denies it. They leave it vague, but she's still pretty butthurt about it in the present.

I can picture ivy melting that guy. Or even a shareholder. Just needs a good reason to not just kiss him or hypnotize him or even just shoot him with a gun.

If you're going to err, to get it wrong, better to be too safe than not. Like wearing a plate carrier, when all you needed was basic Kevlar. Better to be wrong and wearing the plate, than dead because you were wrong and only wearing the Kevlar.

Honestly wouldn't be a bad way to start an Ivy redemption arc if it was planned out from the beginning
          >Ivy becomes a plant-mancer
          >uses plants to brutalize people
          >is herself victimized by a plant
          >said plant is literally the living manifestation of her misdeeds
          >Batman still saves her from her karmic punishment
          >she lives in fear that Harvest could one day return
          >gains perspective on the fear she inflicted on others
          >becomes less of a villain and more of an antihero/lethal protector, does the right thing out of a desire to preserve life rather than defend the status quo
          >would still love a Ted K feverdream world where there's no industrialization and everyone just shits in the woods, but now has the perspective to work towards that goal without murdering loads of innocent people

      Anonymous

I prefer Human Pam but Plant pam is good too. If I was writing Ivy comics I'd wanna do sort of a "master of disguise" vibe with her. Where she can disappear into a crowd and nobody knows where the next poisoning comes from.

I like human pam but still with some slight plant powers. World's Finest did that very well in the first issue, Waid and Mora were absolutely cooking.

Human Pam by miles, not only does her design look better but it also makes her mastery of plants, poisons and manipulation play more into her intelligence, cunning and capability then just being a mutant. I can see her controlling or able to direct them but either through her nurturing them or maybe low level plant manipulating powers at most

        This.

no problem man, also being a plant person also means her skin starts to blend in with the costume which clutters/worsens the design even if she is a lighter shade then her costume

My thoughts exactly. Green skin plus green costume is just not a good color scheme.

I also prefer her hair to be explicitly orange not just cause I find it sexier but I feel it flows better with her costume design also

            Anonymous

Fricking this. Making her skin green also clashes with her red hair to me and makes her look more garish. Pale skin is so much better.

I think the only times it has worked for me is in Brave and The Bold and that one shitty Harley Quinn DCAU movie. Maybe it's cause those designs just also look really good or because they use a very light shade of skin but very dark shade of costume that makes it somehow work

Oh that's a bit of a bummer. The idea that they were colleagues and really respected each other but didn't recognize each other in costume was my favorite bit.

maybe that could be some of the fun is seeing the gradual slip and tension of knowing she will utterly relapse or fully invest into her villainy but how, when and why

                Anonymous

The idea we discussed a lot was that she established a civilian life in order to enact some kind of scheme but ends up being unwittingly purified by Pete being respectful and starry-eyed about her science stuff, so she starts feeling bad about he villainy bit. She doesn't go hero, but maybe she actually takes his thing about killing to heart and becomes a more light-hearted villain.

I mean it's all goofy fanon, we discussed them meeting aunt May and May thinking Pam would be a great date for Pete due to the red hair and being brainy.

A moment of Ivy almost killing SpiderMan and seeing it’s Peter and just has memories of Peter and her working together and seeing Peter taking care of his aunt. Would be interesting like her breaking down because of empathy and realizing she’s still too human.

which could either lead to her either trying to be a little more moral despite not abandoning her goals and motives of plant restoration/supremacy or desperately trying to be less human because she can't actually deal with the emotional complexity since he saw her eco crusade as very black and white from her perspective

For me, what makes Ivy so hot is because she's a walking death sentence. The idea that she's sexy, seductive ready and evil makes such a good combo. Part of why she does nothing for me when with Harley is that Harley is basically immune to her it's like defanging a cobra. She's got nothing really going for except vines or whatever. I think what makes Poison Ivy work, much like other Batman or Spider-man villains, is how many way's they can be interpreted that either bring a fun spin, highlight different interesting elements of the characters or can really make them likable or delightfully awful. Poison Ivy is very similar in how she can either be very sympathetic in her goals to help what she feels is an oppressed and the most beautiful part of the world while being a threat or just this sexy yet oddly intimidating presence that hides how much of an awful monster she is who uses her cause as an excuse for her misanthropy
