This franchise has been shit from the beginning, sorry. People give the first iron man a pass for rdj and brides’ star power alone but it’s always been the same garbag, this has been my opinion since 2008.
I have a soft spot for the first Captain America because of Joe Johnston and it's Rocketeer vibes but yeah none of the early MCU films were massive hits on their own. They were all enough of a success to keep the studio afloat and fans engaged but they weren't anywhere near the level of Raimi's Spider-Man or X-Men.
Iron Man, the first one was. It more than the every X-men film to that point (too lazy to copy and paste links, I just double checked wikipedia). I remember hearing non-geek friends talking about it during lunch at school at the time and thinking even then "this might actually catch on". None of the other films were at that level until the first Avengers was though.
Honestly I don't remember there being that much hype around Iron Man. Spider-Man and X-Men were big and then there was Dark Knight. I remember seeing posters for Captain America and Thor but never seeing them. It wasn't until Avengers that the MCU got my attention.
All due respect how old are you? I was in fifth grade at the time, in one of the prime target audiences which might explain it. It made close to 600 million, none of the X-men even made 500 million. Even if this ended up being the only MCU film at all I'd bet it'd be remembered.
There are only going to be women and minorities in the lead roles now, funny how they seem to mimic the comic books in alienating their most hardcore fans
>capeshit has been around for so long that zoomers are nostalgic for early capeshit
Grim
>zoom zoom doesn't remember 90s capeshit
the original iron man is a good film, the other two not so much
cap 1 isn't great but it has a lot of soul value
thor 1 is just a snooze
This is still the MCU
there's a pretty big difference between Paramount MCU and Disney MCU
Same MCU
I miss fun good superhero flicks made with passion
Damn you should check out this thing called the MCU, it's exactly what you are looking for
>I miss shit movies from my childhood 50 years ago
ftfy
if you're fricking moronic maybe... oh wait this is Cinemaphile
Exactly this is Cinemaphile go to reddit where they cry about how much better Iron Man is to the rest of the MCU as if it isn't the same thing
You really gonna pretend you don't like MCU garbage for nostalgia?
thor isn't good, replace it with the incredible hulk
Thor isn't good but it's much better than Hulk
the incredible hulk is shit
Still surprised they haven't brought back Jeff Bridges

I was like 10 when Iron Man came out so I wouldn't say I was out of the target audience but also I wasn't big into superheroes as a kid.
>Blade II (2002)
>Hulk (2003)
>X-Men 2 (2003)
I miss this MCU
Me too
