The scene literally makes no sense without them. And the same actress did a commercial featuring the braces joke years later. Fuck redditors who deny mandela effect, she originally had braces.

Her braces were almost as sparkly like the iron teeth.

I've never seen this movie BUT this still fucks me up, because it's so obvious that this scene only makes sense if she has braces. There was a webpage I saw that looked closely at the frames and saw artifacts that look like light reflecting off her teeth where braces would be. WTF

      This is the correct answer.
Braces were not a thing outside of America. They wouldn't have had the connotations people are putting on them to the people making the film.
It's an Anglo-French production. Putting her in braces would make no sense. The stereotype didn't exist

Then why does Jaws have braces?

Find me a British or French movie made before 1979 which features braces in a similar context.
The association between braces and geeky fragility did not exist at the time the movie was made. A film made now she'd wear them, but not a European film made in the 70s. It would not have occurred to anybody involved in the film

CIA pr other entity wants to see how easy it could be to change people’s memories of past events.
It likely been done before, but further separated in time from when the events happened.

It's just a test. They periodically do this to study how long it takes people to notice, how many accept vs deny the new status quo, where and how the knowledge of the change spreads, etc. It's just research to help them with perfecting the process so they can change actually important things with minimal fuss

Well, they never showed up again and my dad said they died like Mayday because it's a trope that bad guys that switch sides have to die to redeem themselves and since he is my dad I am obligated to believe him in order to preserve the memetic legacy of my parental line.

You should have seen the AI utopia dimension where everyone had android waifus.

        Anonymous

We get glimpses into that dimension all the time. It's an anti-utopia where all of those waifus are permanently online, subscription based, get patched into oblivion, pressure you into constant microtransactions and of course when you get sick and tired of them they roll out the Classic version which doesn't work properly and devolves into the retail version within a month.
The grass is always greener on the other side.

They removed the braces from the American version because they thought it made her look too young and these is implied sexual romance between her and Jaws as well as overt sexual relations throughout the entire franchise.

My problem with this scene is that without braces, it makes ZERO sense. The entire point is that the dude has metal teeth, so her having "metal teeth" as well would create that bond between them. Without the metal teeth, regularly smiling makes no fucking sense.

It would be like the dude having metal robotic legs, and then she lifts up her dress to reveal normal legs, and they walk off into the sunset because they can walk, fuck off
