I think that The Phantom Menace is the best of the prequels. It's pretty moronic in a lot of ways just like the other two, but it somehow captures the spirit of the original trilogy the best. Maybe that's because it used the most real sets. I think that there was a spark of genuine creativity and old Star Wars spirit in parts of The Phantom Menace that is almost totally gone in 2 and 3. It has that feeling of fantasy that has long since disappeared, especially with Disney. There are even some shots when they're on Tatooine that are genuinely good and remind you that George Lucas was a talented director at one point.

its breddy gud
Whoa whoa whoa. His shadow is Darth Vader. Wowzers!
>Dude I'm irony poisoned to the point where I've become a mental cripple lmao
Yeah, it hints at future molestation!
Y’all think jake Lloyd ever got pussy from this role in like hs or some
>he doesn’t know
Yeah and all the promotion and related games and everything were the best. I saw that movie like 5 times in theaters when it came out. I don't know if I saw any other films twice even. It was a magical time.
>I think that The Phantom Menace is the best of the prequels.
That would be a pretty sad state of affairs.
The phantom menace had the least amount of ps2 graphics of the prequels. It was before lucas lost his mind and tried to do everything on greenscreen so it has amazing sets. Even the mattes are better in phantom menace. So much in the next 2 look after effects tier.
The prequels are a sad state of affairs. Poetry.
Yeah, TPM is the best of them. There's no Hayden Christiansen or any of the shoddy writing and dialogue that characterize the other two.
>I HATE SAND
>FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, THE JEDI ARE EVIL!
>I HAVE SEEN A SECURITY HOLOGRAM OF HIM KILLING YOUNGLINGS
If you ignore Jar Jar, TPM is a decent enough adventure story.
I went to watch it last month in the theaters, and it was probably the most bored I have ever been watching a movie. A complete dredk
The only enjoyable scenes were the pod race and the maul duals.
>If you ignore Jar Jar, TPM is a decent enough adventure story.
>"dude just ignore a quarter of the movie, then it's good"
Black person
>If you ignore Jar Jar,
I like jar jar, it's a self insert for kids in the audience like r2d2 was in the real ones
All three prequel movies are pretty garbage, but the Phantom Menace is indeed the least garbage of them. It at least feels like an actual movie, albeit a shitty kids movie, while Ep 2 and 3 feel like watching cutscenes from a shitty PS2 game.
I have this poster in my room.
Kino
was this an actual poster when it came out not gay fan art?!
Noice. Just get a better frame for it, Anon
What was it about the TPM’s CGI that just looked so much… better? Comfy, even. AOTC and ROTS looked like proto marvel video games, but phantom’s looked so much more life like and real, especially with the droids.
I think mainly it was they were using the CGI for ships and battle droids instead of people. You didn't have any of the off-putting CGI clonetroopers or anything in TPM.
>You didn't have any of the off-putting CGI clonetroopers
I was 10 years old when I saw Revenge of the Sith in the theater, and even then I remember thinking it was bizarre that the clone troopers were cgi despite being just dudes in plastic armor. I think that was the first time I ever viewed something in a movie critically. I realized deep in my maturing brain that what I was being presented wasn't quite right.
is this a bait thread ?
>thread full of people unironically agreeing
>Wtf is this bait?!
Phantomchads are rising up on Cinemaphile
Feels good to be a day one Phantom enjoyer.
Peak millennials are entering their 30s and are getting nostalgic for the absolute piece of steaming shit they saw as a 9 year old
Phantom Menace mogs any blockbuster in the last decade.
The Apes movies are better.
Very true.
Stop making threads about this dead franchise. It's over
>it somehow captures the spirit of the original trilogy the best
Agree
Real sets and being shot on film helped. But also because Lucas had a sense of confidence that was gone after the backlash. Episode 2 and 3 feel like he just wants to get them over with.
It’s tough, it definitely has the best SPFX of the series IMO. My mind was blown at how good it looked when I went back to rewatch. The OT looks like Dark Crystal or something half the time with the hokey effects and the latter prequels are really heavy on colorful CG.
I prefer RotS slightly, but TPM easily solos 90% of Star Wars movies. Heck, it's better than RotJ, which is carried hard by the throne room scene.
Phantom sucks ass, it’s the worst of the original six.
There are no original six. There are the original three.
the prequels are all equally good/bad
if you have to pick the best its obviously the second one or third
Movie is atrocious. I'm guessing anyone with a positive opinion of it is a zoomzoom who saw it when their brain was still soft and malleable.
>Maybe that's because it used the most real sets.
>that has long since disappeared, especially with Disney.
the REAL nature of George Lucas is that he tricked atheist manchildren into hyping up christian lore by appealing to their childishness.
He was something of a sith chad himself.
meds
>noooo star wars is NOT a thinly veiled Jesus story!!! How could you even insinuate such a thing!!!
is the fandom really this flimsy and touchy feely on their own origin?
>see twitter post
>Dave Filoni: Anakin is the greatest of the jedi
>twitter thread filled with idiot ESLs arguing no because they think great means another word for very good
for you pajeets great can be used to describe Hitler, Julius Caesar etc. The word does not force opinion.
Reminder the only way to truly enjoy this movie is the VHS/early DVD version with puppet Yoda, and pretending the two other prequels don't exist.
the prequels are not canon
I don't understand this recent wave of shitting on duel of the fates
It is the gold stand of all sword fights, let alone lightsaber fights
My coworker's name is "Anakin" LMAO dunked on from the get go.
OT > Rogue One > prequels > SW Battlefront game >>> the rest
Rogue One is a complete trashfire.
Which movie is the one that had a bunch of teddy bears destroy that robocop machine with a log
watch the RLM reviews
I've seen the plinkett reviews many times and I'm actually not sure which one Mike would say is the least bad. He would obviously like that TPM has the most practical sets
>Yoda says 9yo Anakin is too old to start Jedi training
God what bullshit. It was a transparently fake excuse when he used it on 20yo Luke so why bring it back here?
Keep making threads about this alive franchise, it hasn’t even begun.
Had the same issue as Terminator 2, tbh. Kid should have been older
Outside of Jar Jar, I agree. The tone, atmosphere, and the way it is directed feels more like ANH.
Attack of the Clones feels too Noir-esque and Revenge feels too dark.
Yee Pee!
