GL going from Geoff to Venditti was like going from rustic homemade cooking to the Lunchables.
that was thorne
Yeah it’s in a bad s0pot. Hopefully Adams can bring it back from the dead. Sucks that night terror derailed everything.
Adams ain't saving anything with an Earth-based run and probably fridging Kilowog.
I mean GL has been great so far and has been the only worthwhile read during Knight Terrors
It's only been 2 issues, we'll see.
The worst part about the Adams run is that he's going small when everyone wants bigger.
gl killed himself
They could've saved their asses by just bringing back the animated series for one more season.
Also it's so obvious how nearly impossible to represent the gl in the Big screen
It could only work on a cartoon show format or comics
>Also it's so obvious how nearly impossible to represent the gl in the Big screen
Not in current year, VFX tech is good enough that they could do a live action TV show if they really wanted. There's no excuse now for not being able to pull off a feature film.
>live action TV show
it would have been so easy to do a police procedural with green space paint
Idk I mean Thor worked and Asgard was all special effects, Oa could kinda work like that
I think the space, planets, aliens are easy to manage but the light construct are doomed to look awful if we had a Big fight ، and it'll always limit the cgi team which will lead them to have many limitations .
an anime adaptation would rejuvenate interest in the property
I feel like that's the perfect medium to adapt Green Lantern, with the perfect demographic to lap it up
this but wrong image. once Simon and the chick were introduced it was clear they ran out of ideas and ESG had taken over
you're just trying to bait
this was a good run
Did it every improve after Humphries left? Felt like whiplash reading the first issue after that.
oh I posted seeley
Humphries was the good writer, lmaooo dogfricker wrote those two very well
How did Simon and Jessica never get together?
This was like queerbaiting but straight.
Wasn't Simon a devot Muslim man I really think it's hard to write him with Jessica, even if I really like his character he was a cool character
That just makes it better, it's forbidden love like Romeo and Juliet.
I think Simon was a better Muslim character than ms marvel (in terms of believes/actions)
And I think Muslim men can marry non Muslim, so if you gived a writer some freedom of expression we might actually get a great lantern love story
This thread being dry as Frick just shows how nobody cares about Hal or the green lanterns anymore.
Cinemaphile doesn’t read comics, sis. They watch girl cartoons.
Hal is an otome husband.
The introduction of the Rainbow Corps killed the Green Lantern IP.
This is like saying Link to the Past killed Zelda.
here's your (You)
Yeah, we need boring dogshit corny Silver Age antics instead
The other corps saved GL and they're fricking dying without them
Hate them all you want, but the Rainbow Corps saved Green Lantern.
There was a time when the internet loved making various characters part of the different Corps.
Love it or hate it, it had mass appeal.
Red lantern guts goes hard I never knew I needed to see this in my life anon .
Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful day you did a good job for posting that
you're right, the series should have remained Hal on Earth struggling to fight guys that toss javelins at him
what
what
hear me out
what if the javelin wore a ring??
The rest of the DCU at their peak is so fricking gay and boring compared to GL at its peak.
I thought Venditti was okay, but the Morrison and Thorne runs were NOT good.
Venditti was the most unreliable GL writer post-Geoff. For every good story he had, there were like two in its place where you ask why he did that.
It was weird how bad his New 52 stuff was but Rebirth was great (for a bit at least, fell off with that whole Kyle+Soranik's future child thing)
Green Lantern was never good
I don't much about GL. I watched Justice League war where he was arrogant douche that cucked by Batman and Superman. So not a great impression.
Anyone want to recommend me some of his best comic stories?
Grant Morrison's GL, especially season 2.
The Geoff Johns run. Quit reading DC comics after that.
Isn't the underlying issue the fact that DC has decided that only Batman and various Gotham characters should have ongoings?
Aquaman doesn't have a book either.
Neither does Blue Beetle despite doing great in sales
Terriffics sold well but is also cancelled
Same with JLA Odyssey and Dark
When is the last time just...any...New God had an ongoing? 2015?
Is there a single cosmic or magic book out right now? Just anything at all Adam Strange, Dr Fate, Zatanna, LEGION, anything?
Know who does have an ongoing series right now? Poison Ivy, and a teamup book with Harley, while Harley also has a monthly book. So does Catwoman. And Robin. Fricking Penguin has an ongoing right now....Penguin...
did rebirth just end for your or something
>Poison Ivy, and a teamup book with Harley, while Harley also has a monthly book. So does Catwoman. And Robin. Fricking Penguin has an ongoing right now....Penguin...
Who cares when they are all shit
I care when I want to see more of the New Gods, the Green Lanterns (an actual return to the space epic of Johns not this "Hal is back on Earth" crap), the magic side of DC, Hawkman/Thanagar, Martian Manhunter, and even new characters that I took a liking to (like Sideways, who had his own mythos like Static Shock and could have been DC's equivalent to Spider-Man). Hell, I'm not even that big of an Aquaman fan even though I loved Johns's expansion of Atlantean lore/politics and the inclusion of the different kingdoms, and even I'm pissed that Aquaman, a core JL member, has not had a solo book in a while. This is supposed to be an entire universe of different characters. Marvel, even when wanking the X-Men at it's hardest, at least tries to promote its other IPs. I'm glad Flash, Superman, and now Captain Marvel (the real one) have a book, but it's genuinely amazing how DC continues to push more of Gotham as if these characters and stories haven't been exposed enough already.
DC is moronic so expect decisions that make no sense.
Sideways had so much potential
I strongly believes if DC Was brave enough to make an animated movie About him he'll be their next Big thing but unfortunately his gone now like every good concept DC comes out with in modern Times
I really wanted to see more of him. He felt like he had so many opportunities in a world full of his own characters and rogues. His design clearly shows that DC wanted him to become a potential Spider-Man. I would be all for it since far too many characters are tied to DC's core characters (like how most teen heroes are just offshoots of the JL). But forget about treating the new characters right or creating any new potential IPs that people could like, DC doesn't even treat its established characters outside of the JL with any care (and even that's in question, given how GL and Aquaman went for years without a single ongoing, and Martian Manhunter doesn't even have a solo out). I wish DC would just sell the rights of a lot of these characters if they are only going to continue publishing Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman (though it's not like they actually make an effort to make her mythos compelling), and Flash.
Joker has a monthly book too. But the Bat shit is insane right now. so far it looks like
Batman
Batman and Robin
Batman Brave and the Bold
Robin
Detective Comics
Nightwing
Batman Worlds Finest
Outsiders
Harley
Poison Ivy
Penguin
Joker
Catwoman
Birds of Prey
Are all out in the months of September, October, and December. Poison Ivy, Brave and the Bold, and Detective Comics get two issues each month too.
>Robin
There's no Robin book, Tim's book got canceled a while ago, you're right about everything else tho.
I would gleefully cancel every Batman book to get another of pic.
my basketball-american
Based. This event made Sinestro my favorite DC villain.
>Neither does Blue Beetle despite doing great in sales
It's literally starting next week.
>sets the GLC back by decades
