I used to think like the creators of this show... when I was a teenager. Then I grew up and realized that zealotry, passion and extreme beliefs are the only ways in which the world could change. Giving criticisms of both sides can only come from a place of privilege. As long as it leads to good change, who actually cares about the sincerity of their beliefs? I'm so tired of shows like this trying to didactically convince people with half baked insight and criticisms into the topics they talk about, not realizing that we might have a better grasp on the situation than they do.

You're correct, a violent socialist revolution is the only way to change society. It's tough but it's necessary.

Realize that the creators of this show are no longer in touch with the average American as they were when it first aired. Of course they have no grasp on your problems, they're quite literally rich.

I don't think they try to convince people. To try to make people laugh by putting their own spin on the situation, and reading too deeply into something makes it hard to find humour, so they don't.

Does that mean satier is inherently counterproductive to undestanding the actual substance of whatever is being satirized

It depends on the type of Satire. If you're cranking out new episodes in a less than a week, and trying to wrap a 20 minute plot for a cartoon around it, how much time can you possibly have to read into something?

Other examples of tv satire take months to create.

there are really people that get their political beliefs from fricking South Park?
I thought this was a joke and no one could ever be that stupid...

It's more people waking up to M&T being terrible role/political models considering Trey's relationship life is in shambles and Matt is an butthole israelite and are desperately trying to reclaim the show from them

What's with all the ManBearPig appearances lately? Have they suddenly just decided that global warming is real now or something?

    >As long as it leads to good change
Most changes demanded by zealots don't actually benefit the majority. Earlier South Park was absolutely right in its portrayal of activists as loud, annoying, and ruining things for everyone else.

I dig some of the writing, but honestly Matt and Trey seem like self-important fartsniffers in a lot of ways. Like, they seem to seethe at the slightest criticism of the show, and think they’re saving the world or something as opposed to just… making a funny show

      >Make fun of everyone by declaring them crazy people who want everyone dead.
      >Insist on making fun of muslims even though it means you'll probably get everyone killed.

So it's better to just quietly get fricked in the ass than to resist? Fricking cuck. You are the reason the West is dying.

Not making fun of them resulted in zero deaths, so what you're saying makes no sense.

Not making fun of them resulted in countless innocents getting raped and killed by barbaric muslim immigrants.

What are you babbling about, Trey? The Muslims would kill people with or without you making fun of Mohammed.
