I remember there wasn't a single thread on Zim where this tweet wouldn't get posted, made the announcement of Florpus all the more shocking. One of those rare instances where the modern obsession with revivals and reboots actually turned out well though

I thought florpus was mediocre, i probably would rate it a bottom 5 zim episode if it wasnt carried by the fact that its a de facto series conclusion

Crazy how acting like dib will get you bullied harder than acting like zim

    SOVL.

Reminder that Zim only has like 20 episodes and yet still managed to become a massive success and a beloved classic.

        It's okay, you can seethe.

It had 46 episodes (38 eps of 11 mins and 8 half hour specials)[...]

Those are segments, though. In total it has 27 full episodes plus 1 pilot.

I spent a lot of time having on Zim just to be contrarian because of its classic fanbase; but in recent years I just can't keep up the act anymore. Not only is it kino, but it's just funny, too. Gir is hilarious and cute and Zim is actually a pretty good villain who wasn't anywhere near as incompetent as I remember him.

Glad you came around anon, it’s a fantastic show. Also a lot of the wacky sci-fi ideas they come up with are legitimately interesting.

    holy soul
Invader Zim was way ahead of its time
I also miss quirky proto-goth girls wearing Gir hoodies and bracelets and sitting in the high school hallways with sketchbooks. God I wish I would've hit on them

I remember telling my sister I liked this show so she gave me the entire Johnny the homicidal maniac comic series, Squee and Lenore. I was like 8.

Doesn't all of this just seem so silly and innocent now? Vasquez had some commentary on consumerism and conformity but it seems like the world before 9/11 was infinitely better than what we have today.

Even post 9/11 wasn't the worst thing. Yes the damage to the American psyche and the lie about Iraqi sold to us, the innocence was lost and the cynicism creeped in but we weren't doomed materially and culturally until the Great Recession.
Doomed us to the absolute Hellscape we're in now.
