I like the idea far more that these were just another creation of the Engineers. One that was more successful in being peaceful and since they didn't have that drive to kill each other, they were still technologically simple. But they had areas where the Engineers came and visited every so often and it was always a big happening so it was like a celebration until David blasted them. I hope that was what Ridley was going for because having it be the real Engineer's homeworld doesn't make much sense and is really disappointing. They should have floating mega cities, gigantic orbital habitats and ships all over.

That's what I thought when I first saw them. They also have irises with pupils which the Engineer in Prometheus didn't have, but I've heard that Ridley said they were the Engineers and not one of their creations.

Why do you assume that their society homogenous and ALL of them are advanced? We have fricking suburbs where people rest from the urban life, we have religious places where people go to pilgramage, we have places like Tibetan temples where monks live in recluse and learn to recite prayers. If Aliens were to land in Tibet and see our Tibetan monks, are they to assume that all humans are backwards moronic people who don't have technology like electricity and cannot go to space?

Implying Ridley Scott is this nuanced.

Engineers had special separate planet for their genetical experiments. They didn't experiment on their homeworld with weapons that can destroy the life on the entire planet. So Ridley was nuanced in that.

Having a separate planet for all traditionist Engineers who want to live away from technology is kinda based, and something we ourselves would like to do. Imagine if you could escape this world away from the internet and porn, escape it all and live on the entirely different planet that is basically forest paradise, away from the rest of your species who change their gender, grow additional limbs, create new life forms as pets and make living abominations for their art projects and even develop special pathogens to kill off many their creations that start running amok...wouldn't you want to get away from that shit and live on that separate planet?

The original Prometheus script implies that they are not Engineers, but another creation of the Engineers just as humans were.

The original script got butched by suits though, so the final result is kind of a mess.

Its only a mess if you assume that all engineers should look the same, when its not even for humans.

In the future, there could be two humans who look like person on the left, and the person on the right. If we have your dumb mindset, you would say they are not even the same species, because they look so differently. But they could exist on the same planet, and even somehow have fricking kids.

I was expecting him like landing his ship and trying to talk to them again, i am sure they won't just tear his head off again, no way! Or maybe he could have returned to human planets and start explaining to them why he is the only android alive, he could re-integrate into human world, i am sure they wouldn't just blame him for everything or tear him apart and reprogramm him. No way!

Should have never been connected to Alien and it probably would have been fine. Just a mission to find ancient creators, they turn out to hate us and wipe out the crew aside from the android and one other, they go to either the creators homeworld or a colony and use the bioweapon on them, and whatever else Ridley had in mind for the trilogy. The Alien aspect brought it down and diminished Alien with needless lore conflicts and stupidity.

What is the worth of such a story? Mankind was created by a mysterious humanoid race....so who created them?

        Anonymous

Ridley is fascinated with androids, life, creation, religion. This turns the usual tropes on their head. You have religious people finding out real proof that God didn't create them directly. Then of course everyone would be thinking their creators must love them. But instead find out that they were on the way to kill them and hate humans. And humans creation, the Android, is almost a mockery of life and they treat him so poorly at times that he has decided he doesn't like his creators either. There's some interesting parts just as a different take on the usual and scifi likes to explore different ideas all the time.

Xeno blood is depicted as being able to melt through ship decks (presumably some alloy of steel) effortlessly, but only for a short time. No chemical known can melt steel that fast, so unless the deck was made of a gallium alloy we’re dealing with something new. Fortunately, by analyzing the interior of the Xenomorph’s veins we will find something which can contain this new acid.

This is the best Alien movie, so much better than those condom-glue-and-a-Black person-inside ragdoll old "kinos". Daft shiteaters argue about who was better, like, Finch or whatever - the truth is simple: without proper CGI anything not human looks funny and half-assed, Teletubbies style. Only today it is possible to make any creature look realistic = truly horrifying and awesome looking. Alien: Isolation is just proving my words - the videogame turned out to be a 100% better experience than any Alien movies at all.

The new Alien TV series is going to suck so bad. One of the twist in it is similar to the twist from Blade Runner 2049. Remember those replicant freedom movement who believed in the chosen one? So this new Alien TV series is all about trannies from android liberation movement who plot against the big bad corporation and believe in some satanic scientology plot about the coming of the Sacred Chosen Android Hermaphrodite, who is going to fullfill the prophecy. And aliens for them are just like wolves, that you unleash from the cage to distract attention and cause havok.

      dumb characters =/= bad movie
a lot of horror movies have dumb characters, but they still being considered classic and good movies. No one is saying "Oh, this old horror movie is bad because characters there acted dumb and got killed by a monster/murderer!" but for some reason Prometheus/Covenant are treated differently.

        >but for some reason Prometheus/Covenant are treated differently.

I think they're under-rated. Had a young director created Prometheus, the movie would have been praised and the director handed a big franchise to helm. Because it's Ridley who did Alien, Bladerunner & Gladiator, people like to shit on him.

Nah, this is brought up all the time and is a legit criticism. Alien had smart and competent people who were exposed to an extremely unusual situation and had to make the best decisions they could with the information at hand and things kept going wrong since due to everything the didn't know. Prometheus had genuinely idiotic characters that can't be excused. It has two characters who are loud mouthed and in everyone's faces about how smart they are, how much better they are and how they're here for money or whatever, then literally both of them fail at the specific job they are supposedly experts at and were hired by a gajillionaire to make this extremly important, once in a lifetime, mission a success. The fricking map maker guy gets lost as he's cowardly running away, and the biologist decides to pet a creature giving a threat display. All after they were so fricking scared that they abandoned everyone and they decided to smoke weed while still in the spooky alien ship. These movies aren't meant to be on par with the bottom barrel halloween slasher flicks portraying high school teens.

I don't remember much about the original Alien but I do remember that the characters of Alien were workers on a cargo plane or something like that. Prometheus had scientists (of many kinds especially biology) and they were infinitely dumber than the space truckers of Alien.
