Robocop is a right wing christian conservative police officer who signs up for the military during a civil war, is killed then get's reanimated as a robot soldier for a paramilitary organisation in bed with the american government and made to enforce intersectionality on his former small rural american town. He returns to humanity and regains his memories slowly over the course of the movie and removes corruption from the government.

If they were to do a reboot, I'd like to see and inversion of the original. Murphy's brain is completely scooped out and replaced with an AI computer. Instead of remembering his humanity, AI-Robocop grows his own identity, partially based on his fellow officer's reminisces of Murphy as thequintessential 'good cop', and the horrific violence and degeneracy he witnesses on the streets. At the end of the film, in the corporate HQ, where everyone is a sociopathic piece of shit and there's no 'old man' to set things right (always hated that in the original), AI-Robo simply blasts the whole board room and walks back on to the streets, having become Old Testament cybergod.
Robocop vs Terminator was about Murphy's brain being digitized and being the base for Skynet or something.

There was a third (mini)series called Prime Directives that followed an aging RoboCop coming out of retirement in a more traditional, cyberpunk Delta City and fighting against a rogue AI developed by a bitter OCP engineer. It's pretty kino for a low-budget Canadian sci-fi production and probably the only RoboCop show worth a damn.

It’s a horrible time to try and resurrect Robocop. Go all-in on satire of the present and you’re going to get too far away from the core identity of the original film. RoboCop 2 already covered the concept of RoboCop being reprogrammed by the SJW committee to use non-violence and lecture people on environmentalism, so that’s out. Essentially the last two decades are just too lame to support a character like RoboCop. You could either do a retro-future like the excellent recent game did, or maybe you could make a culture clash of RoboCop being revived into a parody of the present work somehow - people start screeching on social media about defunding the police, BLM, etc but then he actually gets results, naturally the corporation is behind all of the social unrest in an attempt to asset-strip whatever city it’s set in but honestly that’s not satire or prognostication, it’s just our actual reality.
Given Weller’s age I always thought a good starting point for a sequel might be whatever OCP has evolved into deciding to make a new RoboCop for a new city, like LA, and at some point he meets the original, an extended cameo by Weller, who’s considered obsolete and been put out to pasture (maybe kept around to oversee the corporate archives or something like that). The new guy gets some insight into his situation from the original and learns he can’t expect much from OCP.

I like to see that Robocop has had a resurgence in popularity. I will always remember being a kid, some of my uncles were watching it, and seeing that scene where one of the henchman comes out of the toxic waste, so cool and horrifying. Some people say they were “traumatized” by some stuff they saw in a cartoon or something. Try seeing that lol.
Just do that sequence in Robocop 2 where the woke programming rendered him an impotent authority figure but now it's the whole film.
