Once the full arc is out I might like it more but I don't think I was ever a fan of any of the establishing issues for arcs.

Agreed. Waiting months for hardly anything to happen is not an engaging way to gain readers. I was super invested in the previous arcs because all the issues were already out, but this is now also happening because they keep delaying the comic by months. Issue 68 came out in, what, December? So we had to wait almost 6 months for an issue where they race for two pages, fall off their boards, and that's it?

All the other minis came out alongside the monthly book, why did Fang derail it? Hammerstrom didn't draw Fang so why didn't they draw it while Fang was coming out? It's not like the book has a set art team.

                >IDW is very poor and is losing money very fast.
IDW had the second highest selling GN of the year beating out every manga except one. They're having a better year than Marvel or DC. And Sonic is a cash cow because autists collect the shit out of it. Along with TMNT it's one of if not their biggest seller. Why does TMNT have 5 ongoings and a thousand variant covers and Sonic can't even manage a 4 issue mini alongisde the main book when they did that just fine last year when they were in even worse financial straights?

3/10. Eggman looks cool, very 2000s. I would be bothered by the blatant phantom rider plotline if I wasn't already spoiled by future synopses. Crying lesbians, teasing future events, it's all the same idw drivel

With all the mandates they supposedly have to deal with, sidelining the actual supporting cast for the OCs that hardly interact with Sonic is pretty ballsy.
Anyways, I don't get what they are doing here. Feels like weird cross promotion between arcs. But there's no new Riders game right?

I’ve seen people ask Ian to do a Riders story in idw a few times before, though at the time they probably assumed the other game cast would actually be taking part in it and not just sonic and the lesbos
But yeah after Belle/Surge idw seems to have settled i to just entirely filler stuff

                ???/10.
I don't understand what this comic is working towards. No I don't just mean this current storyline. I don't understand what they are doing with the existing characters or comic original characters (particularly Clutch and Lanolin). I can't tell if this shit is supposed to just be fun or if it's trying to focus on world building for the Sonic game canon, which is pointless because that world changes on whim between games anyways. I want to like Tangle and Whisper but even this story treats them like back up or alternates to actual existing Sonic characters. Creating a team for just the OCs really makes it feel like they are being pushed into the narrative ghetto too.
I really thought this shit would be coming together better after 69 issues.

No lie really shows just how incompetent the writers are and how much they want to push the Cutters. They literally drop the actual interesting plot line of a comic arc version of Riders with new enemies and potential fun rivalry and concepts for a tourney race. To just have sonic in the race as racer X kek, which takes away the fun of his banter and beef with characters like Surge or Jet. All for the bland brigade and Lanolin who is slowly becoming the most hated character or at least divisive

Because they decided that Sonic is a bleeding heart and Eggman is a prize hunter and is really in it for the glory.
Which means at their worst: Sonic wants to detain Eggman and Eggman wants to empower Sonic so their duel of fate is truly glorious enough to be worth the effort.
They made an entire meta-arc with the best original character in the franchise starring in it to illustrate this point. You should understand by now.

Poor Tangle is done so dirty. She was a fun character at first, but now she's been roped into this miserable team and gets shut down constantly. She'd be better off with Tails and Amy.

It's 2024, are you really susprised that a fun character got bogged down in romantic crap? That's what happens to every character.

It's extra bad because the gays got to her. Now hear me out - If she was dating a guy, she'd have enough independent moments to show she's not subservient and just clinging to some dude's arm all day. But because she's gay, that's okay; it's not chauvinistic if they're both ladies. Like the male angler fish, Tangle has ceased to be an individual and is just stuck to Whisper like an extra appendage, the two known only for their symbiosis. And if they against all odds decided to put them into conflict, that's just even more worthless relationship drama. Just quietly separate the two.

They're trying to make them a battle couple, just like our married pair here. The problem is that why MAKE them a battle couple when you can't even officially acknowledge it? I don't care for oh so subtle hits like having the pride backing them in one panel, either Sega lets them go all the way and let the b***hes be gay or just don't bother with it. And if the latter finally goes through, let Tangle have a solo adventure with Sonic again. Has Tangle even been detached from Whisper ever since their one comic?

I've seen some people on twitter say that's what she is, but as you said Squidward got his comeuppance constantly. Really we already have a better and more well tested squidward as well i.e Shadow. I think that's a lot of people's biggest gripe is the fact Lanolin just showed up and suddenly had all this authority and can control the well established characters. It's like a master class on how to make a unlikeable oc, add on to that she's a nepo oc pushed by ABT since like issue 1.

This is pretty much it. She's a brand new character batting up against the more established ones, even tangle and whisper. That's what always happens with new characters when they get put in the spot light, but the whole Mimic storyline and her general b***hiness gets people turning against her. Shes a newbie going up against characters with more time in the fandom than her and more experience and credits on their resume than her in universe.

True but I used it more as a meme but was referencing her whole arc so far with Clutch. Their are many scenes where she is shown to be intimidated and sweating in his presence which is insane, because again she has powers and she said literally in her last arc I won't be used or controlled anymore to sonic who just wanted to help her. But her dumbass getting bullied by a literal 1 arc fodder villain like clutch.

Surge is not particularly smart. I believe she can be easily connected trolled with the right words. And Kit does whatever Surge wants him to do.

Also, lest we forget; Surge and Kit were running out of food in Starline's old base before Clutch the Possum found them. And he not only got them a place to stay within the Restoration; but also CLUTCH PROMISED SURGE THAT HE WOULD TELL HER WHO SHE WAS BEFORE STARLINE BRAINWASHED HER. Even if Clutch is lying; Surge absolutely believes his every word; so she probably wants to stay in his good graces because learning about her past is one of the handful things Surge cares about.

True but when your whole arc is about hating evil people, specifically ones that facilitated your life being ruined and used you. You'd think she'd be smart enough to not get used by Clutch a cartoonishly evil.

Yeah if they want to get Surge arc going again they need kit to nut up and smack her and take bit of command. He's a super genius but he's only used it once and the second time he almost did something smart surge loused it up.

But it isn't remember she said she didn't care who she used to be? Though I believe this is the point the writers keep flip flopping over. Does surge care or not, also he's 100% lying and I'm sure surge'll find a way to blame sonic kek. I think I get that but then she shouldn't be so intimidated, like with starline she wasn't intimidated even though he was her boss and could probably actually kill her. Why is Clutch different?, as you said you can stay in his good graces without being his complete b***h.

Surge is a tragic dumbfrick who once got a bucket stuck on her head. She's powerful but not the best at using her powers - yet. In any case; whatever arc Flynn and Stanley have planned for her probably isn't going to come to fruition for probably another 31 issues.

Which isn't a bad idea imo. With how restrictive SEGA are in letting Flynn and Stanley write the core Sonic characters; the new IDW OCs are the most interesting parts of these comics. I like them.

Of course not anon, we've got 31 more issues of Diamond cutters .Also really eh I only really like whisper and the villains albeit not Clutch to much. He's too big brained but the writers are too small brained to write that.

I feel only ocs I hate are lanolin and belle, the rest I just feel bad for as they have potential but the series obviously isn't going to utilize it.

Yeah belle is well accepted as the worst sonic character of idw at least. It didn't help Sage came shortly after and many fans have been vocal about Sage replacing Belle and making it to the comics. An with murder of sonic having her have a cameo it means she's double more canon than Belle anyway kek.

                >I think that's a lot of people's biggest gripe is the fact Lanolin just showed up and suddenly had all this authority and can control the well established characters.

Yeah but thing is you lull them in anon, you don't just suddenly make them a massive shitheel. Like even if her job is to be the downer rules character, don't try and have her compete with the big dogs on day one. Biggest gripe was she talked down to Silver who she didn't even listen to or give credit for being a usually creditable person. She really is up her own ass and the biggest problem is like the reference to being squidwar, Archie had two characters like her as well. But the big thing was no one listened to them early on and they both were shown to be kind of jokes to the other more establish characters. If Lanolin had been like that then we'd probably be more forgiving of her but she's portrayed as a authority figure when she basically just showed up. Also honestly she's a oc in a beloved series she's the one that needs to bend the knee not the established characters. It's the whole burden of proof thing, she needs to prove she's worthy in being more than a foot note.

Plus when the vast majority says a character is shit odds are their has to be something wrong, especially when that vast majority is sonic fans and idw sonic fans to a female character at that.

True but my biggest thing is that if your plan relies on others acting exactly as you plan without using mental manipulation your dumb. Like why tell her your real name? why use your real name, why not use a dummy president/leader which is things Eggman has done before.

He really just toeing the line, he could easily be outed just by a random conversation. Or by the wrong person being around, like what if tangle walks into him or what if idk israeliteel who went on a adventure with and is best friends with the main cast was told to be on the look out for Clutch. In fact it's weird they didn't put a bounty out on him since the Chaotix were hunting him down a few chapters ago meaning they told them to find him. So again just israeliteel not know is weird.

Here's a photographed picture of Clutch during the chao races arc. Clutch is a public figure and not something who was in hiding.

The big frickup was having Clutch himself make the deal with israeliteel without using an intermediary. Even with a different name, Old Green Opossum is fairly specific.

And I will stand by what I said threads ago, Clutch should have been set as Sonic's equivalent to Kingpin. Squeaky clean public persona and doing shady dealing with his gang as the heavy lifters. In this case for the Chao Racing Ring, we should have had some no name mooks as the ones Amy and Cream fight, they get their asses kicked and the issue ends with Clutch being informed by another lackey shit went down.
There, now Amy doesn't know who he is and hell, could even be a fan of his "public work".

Yeah really that would have worked but bro really puts himself out as a crime lord and reveals his hands both times. It's why he was living in the sewers for a while and is so openly evil everytime. Really but we are expecting good writing from the people that made the diamond cutters lol.

THIS, I fricking hate this type of writing. Games, cartoons, comic doesn't matter, don't make your characters stupid JUST to make plot conveniences happen.

Yeah it also doesn't make him look smart just makes the writers look dumb because they can't right a decent plot where he won't be obvious. Literally half these threads are just us shooting half assed ideas of what they could have done. like the dummy figure head thing, I've seen that in many threads as one way to do Clean sweep. If we can think it up and were just fricking around, how can people who it's their job not just stop and think "hmmmm is this too stupid for a smart character?"

That's what I don't get about Starline, it's blatantly obvious he only understood Sonic and Tails' dynamic from an ability standpoint and not an emotional one, which doesn't seem like that difficult a thing to grasp.

You could say that was a sign of Starline having some kind of autism or aspergers or whatever the big thing is these days, but it was really the only instance of such a blind spot Starlight ever showed, aside from his narcissism and desperation for Eggman's love. So was this supposed to be some kind of sign about Starline's actual character, or just making him dumb in order for a plot to work?

Because it doesnt take a genius to recognise that Sonic and Tails' brotherly relationship is the basis of why they work so well together, and his failure to work that into Surge and Kit is one of many reasons why they don't work.

                Anonymous

Again, being smart does not mean caring about others' emotions. He needed a robot to understand emotion better. He treated everyone and everything like a tool to be used and thrown away and saw everything through that lens. Him looking at Sonic and Tails and only paying attention to how Tails serves as practical support to Sonic is about how deep he bothered to understand them. He always has this grandiose idea of being a perfectionist but constantly has his hubris kicking him in the balls. This is his character, and it's not that complicated to get.

Not that I'm excusing it, but this is a pretty common trope with villains: not understanding comradery. It's not a matter of autism, though I'm sure Ian would readily claim that just for twitter brownie points because he's a hack.

He doesn't get people, it's why he thought Eggman could be turned on and it would work. Dude never got that his idol is a scrapper who uses machines because they scale to need, not because he's a big thinker.

It is pretty glaring that Eggman suddenly doesn't know who clutch is when clutch is supposed to sell his salvaged robots back to him.

The only way this makes sense if is no one has realized either how much killer robots he sells to people or that the Clutch that cleans up egg robots is the same Clutch that sells to Eggman

I wouldn't mind if they were allowed to feel like main characters with agency. But they still really feel like the B-team and are entirely reactionary. So instead of feeling like us seeing a new kind of adventure with a new set of faces it just feels like we're being forced to babysit the lesser characters with crippling emotional baggage.
If Tangle still had her high energy adventurer attitude and Whisper matched the description Silver gave her during her reveal, they would be a lot of fun to follow. Dunno how to salvage Lanolin though. She genuinely just seems to be a designated stick in the mud by design. Here, this is for (You):

That was my original point in , you pinhead.
Surge didn't need to justify killing Sonic because of his "morality" (which is completely antithetical to his game characterization in the first place).

Surge already justified it with Sonic's mere existence, and no, I don't have a problem with that because yes, she is an antagonist.

What I'm saying is she didn't need a second reason that was clearly intended as a meta critique on Sonic's character in the comics.

Ultimately, it seems like it's you blaming Sonic for her circumstances, not just Surge.

They still need to make sense in context. Why and how does she have any knowledge of Sonic supposedly being the reason Eggman regained his memory and caused the Metal Virus? Starline himself isn't aware that was the case, and even if he did, he would still take credit for restoring Eggman's memory. Because that's exactly what he did!
                >I argue from her stance because that's whose motivations we're talking about.

                >They still need to make sense in context.
It does. It has less to do with the Metal Virus and more to do with the general history between Sonic and Eggman. She watched Starline files that went over the reasons why he did all this, the page I posted you seemed to have ignored. It's a simple equation for her: Sonic doesn't kill Eggman = Eggman cause trouble for years = Starline gets inspired by Eggman = Kidnaps and creates Surge and Kit to surpass him = therefor Sonic's fault. I don't know why it's so hard to get why she would reach such a conclusion for you.

        >They tried plot with Belle and it sucked ass
You're confusing character growth with plot. They NOT tried plot with Belle. Belle goes through character growth where she accepts Mr. Tinker is gone and Eggman is not him. Currently it's being teased that Belle is similar enough model to Metal to share same access authorizations.

        >they tried another plot with Surge and it sucked ass
Most people couldn't even read that story and thought Kit & Surge committed suicide at the end. The comic might be too intellectual to these readers. Surge plot is a 2 parter. First part is the finale to Starline, where he reaches his peak and dies as a failure. Part of that failure is his creations Kit & Surge. They're on bar with Sonic & Tails, but too mentally unstable to be stable. The 2nd part is called Overpowered for a reason, as Surge is now stronger than Sonic, but even more unstable, which is how she loses again. Its not supposed to finish her off. She and Kit are supposed to reappear in the comics, the plot wasn't supposed to appear as one off to these characters, but rather as an introduction. Imposter Syndrome is extra, little deeper dive into these characters, and issue #50 is the big reveal.

Surge gets high off the Dynamo Cage and so doesn't see Eggman as enough of challenge for her, which is why she doesn't immediately kill him. She then goes for a joyride, probably to get Starline off her mind. Her joyride ends with both Starline and Sonic interfering, which ultimately ends with Sonic tricking her to follow him into trap Tails setup. She then confronts Starline one last time and starts setting up a trap for Sonic. But instead of Sonic, Eggman has come after her, and then Sonic joins forces with him. Surge then recoups with Kit to spring the trap they've set for Sonic.

The trap, most readers of course were too unintelligent to realize, is the silo shaped room with one entrance and water tanks. While Kit distracts Tails, Surge breaks the water tanks and floods the room to conduct her electricity across the whole floor. The trap works, Sonic gets stunned enough for Surge to try to strangle/electrocute/drown him, but the constant battling has drained the Dynamo Cage, and attempting to kill Sonic pushes it too far and the whole contraption breaks. On the immediate aftermath, Sonic and Eggman start arguing who gets to take Surge back to their base, to which Kit interferes and reveals his passivity was a ruse. Kit then carries Surge out from the ceiling window while causing the whole silo to collapse on the rest.

Next time readers get to see S&K, I'd say there is a hiccup, as S&K have returned to the place they were last time seen escaping. They then join forces with Clutch to find out who they were.

              Anonymous

The trap was clumsy and Drip's passivity was not feigned. They are both mentally unstable and dangerous, prone to outbursts and obsessive behavior. Surge was trying her absolute best to kill Sonic and ended up doing more damage to herself than him.

They both aren't good enough to succeed, you could say... https://youtu.be/vYyO44U2BQ4?feature=shared

Filler implies you have a story or lore worth returning to.

      This is the status quo.

I think the comics are now just filler content to fill in space between games nowadays. It's just not the same anymore as it was back in the day.

      Anonymous

They don't even fit between games anymore though. It's been about restoring the post-forces setting for years and now we're getting a Riders story. It feels totally oblivious to what's going on with the games now.

        Anonymous

        >It feels totally oblivious to what's going on with the games now.
The games as usual do their own thing so they're about as connected as little as possible.

          Anonymous

That's fine. But where does that leave comic that built it's whole status quo and setting off the current game at the time?
The games don't care about continuity much. That's why we are even having this current issue regarding human civilization existing or not at current. But you actually have to make sense out of this stuff in a narrative focuzed comic with an emphasis on continuity.

            Anonymous

            >But where does that leave comic that built it's whole status quo and setting off the current game at the time?
Doing it's own thing. It's not required to adapt or promote each new game on some timetable. When it's time to touch anything from Frontiers or Dream Team it will when the staff and Sega feels like it.

              Anonymous

Then it doesn't even qualify as filler like people keep saying. I don't know what role it really fills at all. It's simultaneously limited by the creators of the games but aren't really connected to the games outside of when it was introduced. If they can't use game continuity to their benefit then it's literally only a hindrance.

                >Then it doesn't even qualify as filler like people keep saying.
People throw around that word incorrectly all the time. This was never some straight adaptation of the games, so there's no plot to add filler to. It's just the plot of the comics.

The post Dr. Starline arc seems to be "Sonic vs polite society"

Mimic, Surge and whatshisname from Clean Sweep are trying to take over through subterfuge, something Eggman's never really been about. And so you've got Sonic (and Silver) trying to solve problems by punching them, except the villains are using that to their advantage. Lanolin has become the character exemplifying this, telling Sonic (and Silver) that they're disturbing the peace when they're clearly on the right track, but not used to the methods their enemies are employing.

It's not a bad idea on paper, but it's hard to be compelling when drawn out like the IDW stories have been. I think the benefit Archie had over IDW is that Archie was never really "written for trade" and a lot of the stories were just the length they needed to be.

I do miss the Metal Virus arc (a hold over from Ian's Archie plans) because there was this constant clear threat the heroes were struggling against. Ever since Starline became the main focus it's been too much "carefully laid plans and machinations" that the heroes know almost nothing about.

      >I think the benefit Archie had over IDW is that Archie was never really "written for trade" and a lot of the stories were just the length they needed to be.
I think Archie's advantage there was the editors. Ian wanted the infamous "House of Cards" arc to be longer, but they forced him to cut it down to four issues IIRC. But now we keep getting these 6-10 issue arcs where frick-all happens.

IDW sucks because you know everything and everyone is going to okay. Archie had tension because it had a bodycount.
Hell, even Fleetway had a bodycount.
IDW only had one, Dr. Starline's incredibly ambiguous death that's open to bring him back, you just know that they wouldn't dare even teasing one of their crying lesbians dying.
Remember when people were thinking Surge would kill Whisper? Fun times.
Anyway this issue was mid, apart from the Cutters' fits, just an excuse for another costume change.

This comic really needs a solid main story before it needs to worry about arcs for winding down like this.
Can't believe it's this far in and only like two stories felt substantial, one of which doesn't seem to be well liked.
Rounding off the pitty party OC duo with a stick in the mud also seems like such a bad choice. They need a character who pushes them forward, not one that slows them down.

Only about Lanolin which honestly isn’t a flex

For every one on point criticism there's five or six deranged posts or people literally making shit up because they suck at interpreting books. No wonder Ian and Evan have trouble improving.

It has honestly opened my eyes on how illiterate people actually are.

          >One issue Eggman is attempting genocide on the furries
          >Another he's getting into a friendly race and teaming up with Sonic
Why is this comic all over the place? Why's Eggman being treated like a frenemy, instead of like Archie Eggman?

They barely treated him better in Archie
          >Does generally heinous shit like the egg grapes
          >After getting trounced by Nicole’s stupid nanites, they tell him to go instead of capturing him
          >They’re somehow guilt tripped by Snively, another piece of shit that doesn’t deserve sympathy, and leave mind broken Eggman in his care
This is what I hated about Archie Eggman, the more awful shit he did the less it made sense for the heroes to give him any sort of chance whatsoever. Ian admitted he was trying to bring back that version of Eggman with the death of the original Diamond Cutters and I’m still rolling my eyes over it.

            Anonymous

An Archie-like Eggman just wouldn't work in a game-inspired world like IDW. It would put him in Black Doom/Mephiles/Erazor Djinn territory and those characters won't shown mercy. You can't have some of the goofiness that Eggman is known for with genocide and torture where he clearly kills characters and feels glee from it on his list of crimes.

I mean they essentially committed to that when IDW Eggman decided he was cool with things ending up like Robotnik Prime's home world if the virus succeeded. The line has been crossed.
Pretty different from SA2 Eggman being cool with blowing up the moon and killing Sonic with an underhanded trick but understandably deciding he doesn't want to inherit a lifeless wasteland.

Why do Blaze and Silver act nothing like their original depictions now? It's not like they were only that way In one game.
Look at Blaze's original promo art. Every piece. She's got RBF and looks like she's about to kick someone's ass. Now she's just generic amicable female ally.

She was cold cause she literally just didn't have friends in her home world. The games make a point out of her learning to accept others as friends.
But in 06 she just seems like a doting big sister type. Doesn't really fit together regardless.

Why do people think Sally was some killjoy b***h? Most of her screentime is being in the trenches fighting with her friends. Sure you get some OOC shit with the slap but that was not the norm for her character. She never aided the villains by being a Karen like Lanolin has done twice now.

      Anonymous

Eh, ignore them. Lanolin is basically an inferior copy of Sally as well as lacking a real personality. Ian and Evan can't write stoic women like Ellen Louise Ripley from the Alien Franchise no matter how much they try, because writing a real woman would involve giving them, you know, flaws.

Well that's what I thought they were going for. Military/Merc leader, strong woman, blah blah blah. So i'm sure they intended Lanolin to be some stoic tough girl or w/e, at least at the start, yes?

No? I don't know how you got that from her first issues. Majority of her appearances is her constantly looking haggard or being grumpy or fricking up.

Forgive me, I honestly forgot. I haven't really be following the comic for a while now. I mean, I tried, but first couple dozen issues just bored me to tears.

As much as people meme it to exaggeration, there's a reason "crying lesbians" became a thing because they're never written as badass strong women. I think to the detriment sometimes to try to avoid making them too competent over the game characters. People whine about Lanolin stripping down other characters but at the end of the day, she's going to be proven wrong which is just going to hurt her confidence again.

Perhaps 'flaws' should be replaced with ''gravitas' in the standard response. They have them, but what does it tell us about them? Why should we care? Theirs is a soap opera metaplot transplanted halfway into an action-adventure series.

I would honestly prefer them being show stealing mary sues to what they are now. Silver made Whisper sound like a legend.
But as it is now, if you compare her to "buddy" from Forces, that character was canonically much more competent and accomplished than Whisper despite starting as a cowardly rookie.
Whisper is literally a Forces create-a-character with a super special unique wipson. She should essentially just be a better version of the canon "buddy" but has never reached the same level of importance as say, that guy and Sonic beating Infinite together.
Hell I don't think Sonic has even spoken a fraction of as many words in her general direction.

Honestly agreed, its why I liked Whisper in the first place. This seemingly determined sniper that was seen as a guardian angel. Not saying she can't have flaws and her weeping over her fallen team is expected, but her showing leaves a lot to be desired.

This just shows SEGAs incompetence even more, they always try to wash their hands of situations without following them around. They just make general demands without crossing their t's and expect money to roll in because "sanic". Its why Prime was so dragged out, the comics are being treated as if the archietards are still writing it, and the games are given hyper strict deadlines with no flexibility or creative decisions for the makers.

Blaze and Silver are characters that require the entire plot to be built around their gimmick(time travel or alternate dimension).
Which is why I find it funny to see them together, because they nullify each other and end up just being two strong people standing around.

It isn't. He hasn't liked how low stakes everything has been since MV and how being canon means the comic can't change the status quo much.

I stand corrected, I think most of the old Archie fans have moved on. As for the status quo, I think the dirty secret no-one wants to say is that the comic would probably work better as a comedy where there isn't the expectation that someone should die at any moment. It's also partly due to the target audience too I feel, where again you can't really have a hardcore story about drugs, or a very cerebral plotline because Little Timmy won't be able to follow along. In short, it's a kids action comic and kids action can only be allowed to go so far. It's probably why I generally enjoy the one-off stories and annuals where the writers and artists can get a little more loose.

Aleah needs to come back and fix her husband's writing. At least she had cool lesbian characters.

If Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley want to flex their creative juices, why don't they just make their own series instead of riding on a licensed IP where they can be replaced and they work overwritten at any moment?

      Because they have bills.

Ian's podcast is the thing paying his bills because fans will give him a whopping $100 for an answer to a question he has already given or you can find online or just to tell them his headcanon.

and more often than not fandom shitstorms usually follow over a piece of information he really shouldn't be mouthing off about to begin with.

Ian and evan are shit writers and ip leeching is the only way to try and get any money out of the pathetic state of western comics

Now, let's not make things up. They do have credits elsewhere. It's just no one buys those because they're mediocre and new comic IP isn't a very strong market right now.

No, i can't. I'm in too deep. I know names, I know dates, I'm aware of timelines, of several timelines. This IP is a part of me now, and barring the heat death of the universe, or more likely, however long it takes for Sega and IDW to die, I will be forced to consume this shit.

Man, if only the comic stuck to being AoStH/SatAM influenced.

I started with this series when we it comes to Sonic comics. I don't get what niche Lanolin fills. Is she literally just there to slow things down?
People keep saying she's nu-Sally but what does that even mean? Wasn't she a princess and a central character?
Lanolin just feels like someone's shitty supervisor from work is tagging along for an outing you would normally just invite friends to.

Lanolin represents the more "grounded" feel the Archie Sonic comics had, eschewing the fantastical and video gamey world the rest of the series presents.

She's also proof of why that doesn't work anymore. The only reason it worked with Archie was because pre-Dreamcast there wasn't much saying otherwise.
