I thought all his drawings were some sort of porn by default

giger was a deviant homosexual and everything he ever drew was full of wiener balls and pussy

I have been to the Giger museum, all his work is literally some sort of porn.

Giger was an /d/eviant dude, and there is strong evidence he himself participated in a /d/ xeno porn thread around 2009, go ask for the Giger draws there i had it but lost it when my HDD failed

literally all fox/disney has to do to save the franchise is this

    >cold forge adaptation with chirstian bale as the bad executive dude

    >phalanx adaptation in the style of "mature yet young" cast ala stranger things

    >Into chardybis adaptation

That and putting real effort into making amanda riply a new offshoot of the series with a isolation adaptation

His art is so cool, it's a shame it didn't have a bigger influence on Prometheus and Covenant. At least there's Scorn coming out soon.

Search Alien 3 Giger, he has a full sketchbook of ideas and even made models that were never used.

      >When Giger was brought on, he was still thinking on the level of the monk characters from Vincent Ward's Alien 3 script, there would be lots of monks and there would be a situation where they kissed the alien and then the lips comes close and then finally, "suck".
      >The monk's eyes would be seen to open a little bit followed by some blood running between the lips and then the creature pulls back the whole interior of the victim's cranium, the brains come out.
Interesting stuff. Kinda like Star Wars' Anzati.

Knowing Chris Cunningham also worked on Alien 3 makes me sad the two never got a chance to collaborate on anything else, would've been pretty great.

That sculpture is way better than the design they used in any of the films. Sad.

      >chromatic aberration: the game
Literal walking simulator. Casually walking at standard speed towards the objective (no crouching, running or exploring) is the optimal strategy for 95% of playtime and you will barely see the alien if you do it.

        Maybe on Easy lol,
There’s only one area where you can rush to the objective without worrying about the Alien and that’s the first encounter.

it works for Tool since it's metal, ELP was wacky synth music (not saying that it's bad, just stating the fact)

    >be able to save the Alien franchise with his designs
Species was more faithful to Giger's vision and it shows how hardcore alien rape and horror can coexist, Alien movies always had sexual undertones but they were always too pussy to show full hardcore rape when it should have been the direction of the films

Fox at the time didn't even want Giger, they had to fight for everything that ended up in the movie, specially Dan O'Bannon.

I've read that Giger was one of the few people that remembered their own birth and that it gave him nightmares.

It would explain quite a bit but how is it even physically possible to remember your own birth?

I dunno, it must've been a difficult birth.

Unlikely. Even for Alien they were cherrypicking his work. I was actually pleasantly surprised at his xeno concept for 3 and I think a sexy xeno could have worked, but they went a more generic route instead.
Maybe that became Species instead, to a degree.

Production design can enhance a film greatly, but I don't believe it can save a film entirely on its own.

A shit script has an almost insurmountable tendency to become a shit film, and nothing short of a genius director + a genius editor can change that.

Why does it need saving? We have Alien. How many sequels/prequels/remakes/reboots do people need?

      Anonymous

As many as possible until they make one so bad, no one likes it. Enter 'Alien should have ended at movie X, now it's ruined' homosexuals.

I really want a canon explanation as to why the dog alien doesn't have those back tubes... is it immature? Does its body regulate whatever process those tubes are for a different way because of the organism it's based on?
    Two explanations I've got:
    1) its growth inside the dog sped up in the presence of a queen (queen pheromones produced from within Ripley which the dog and the chestburster inside it sensed) and this happens as a survival mechanism for the species so that there's at least one soldier preparing her hive, and the dog alien will mature and grow tubes of its own as time goes on (rather like how the xenos in Aliens were 'mature' and looked different from the newborn xeno in Alien), but likely of a slightly different configuration because of its body plan
    2) the tubes regulate the xenos temperature amongst other things, and because dogs regulate their body heat through their mouths (by panting) the alien's biology mirrors that and it uses its mouth for this instead of tubes
    What say you, Cinemaphile?

      3) The tubes looked bad on a quadruped creature, so they got removed by the art team.
