No really though, whats the point of him having this whole character arc where he moves beyond the need to be with Nancy only for him end up back with her again? I get why the writers are doing it, they need to stir the shipper pot to drum up interest and fan gossip, but story wise it just makes no sense. And its also clear they had no idea what to do with Nancy and Jonathan once they got together, so the only thing they're gonna try is going back to the whole season 1 love triangle thing again.
The writers (and redditors) are obsessed with the idea of Nancy being a perfect badass but in the end, she doesn't deserve a future with him, and even if she did, their dreams of the future aren't compatible. She spent three seasons making it clear she can't love him so what is this big "right person, wrong time" narrative? Though it's clear they're foreshadowing him as the stay-at-home dad and her the progressive career mom.

I mean Chrissy and Eddie probably had a more developed relationship and they both died the same season they were introduced, Chrissy didnt even make it past episode 2. It wouldnt be hard at all to just sweep her under the carpet like they did with Will's date at the end of season 2. Whether it would be a good idea is up for debate, but they definitely could.
I've seen too many people talk about her for them to get rid of her without getting any flack. I do think nancy and robin have chemistry but i could see people getting upset there was no hint of nancy being bi beforehand.

If the writers had any sense Steve will get a 12/10 cute military admin girl, when he has to help Hopper & Joyce sneak somewhere in a military HQ set up by Sullivan, & he flirts with her & gives her the old Harrington charm to distract her. They end up falling for each other & she helps them subvert Sullivan's grip on the town. He realizes that his infatuation with Nancy was more about he had personally matured & how he doesn't want her anymore it was only his own mind projecting an ideal onto her after growing up. Jonathan & Nancy are perfect for each other in a way. Jonathan fears becoming his father, & Nancy fears becoming her mother. The only way for them to actually develop is to be honest with each other & love each other anyway. Let Nancy be okay with Jonathan not following her to college. Let her still want to be with stoner Jonathan. Let Jonathan be supportive of Nancy's bullshit. Then, in there epilogue they become cross country investigators into paranormal shit. Jonathan takes the pictures, Nancy writes the articles.
