I'm not liking the direction B&B is going.
Mike Judge can't voice Beavis very well anymore. The tweening animation style looks awful. The new character designs are more reminiscent to Bojack Horseman or Archer. I for one do not support or appreciate this return.

I like the movie a lot but i do agree about the animation style.
I thought the art direction was pretty good and the tweenting wasnt that bad. What concerned me more was the lack of wit. That jail part was lazy, even for beavis and butthead
The jail part was the worst bit and didn't land at all. I liked the rest of the movie a lot though.
The animation style doesn't bother me because I didn't expect anything else in the year 2022. No one knows how to make visual art anymore so this is what we're stuck with. For what it is, I think it looks alright.
Well, frick you then mate. The movie was fine, it entertained me for 80 min. nothing wrong with that
But hahaha they made a white privilege joke about five years late LMFAO
You have made this exact thread before using the exact same picture
welcome to Cinemaphile
First week on Cinemaphile?
I liked it.
The 2010 revival didn't have this problem. I don't really get the change.
The 2010 revival had it's own problems. It suffered from "Simpsons digitally animated/colored" syndrome in that it looked too clean. It lacked humanity. Original B&B's art style is perfect for it's show content. It would rough, grainy, almost an unfinished look. Digital ruined cartoons.
The first season of Beavis and Butt-Head was digitally colored.
>watching a reboot of a "show" that was created to advertise music videos
Yes, because it's Mike Judge and he makes good shit except when he did Goode Family.
I agree Mike Judge rules but BNB have always been pretty overrated
Over half of every 10 minute episode is a music video with some stock cuts of them headbanging plus >huh huh
The movie was decent because the characters actually did something
Meant to reply to
They struck a great balance. The video riffing was a great critique of current pop culture and the actual animated episodes were usually good.
Favorite episode
>B&B get a phone book and keep calling a guy named Harry Sack and flushing toilet when he answers the phone. This goes on for months until Harry gets Caller ID, calls them, says they won a free pizza and want to deliver it to them. They give him Stewarts address and Harry shows up there and sticks the phone up Stewarts dads ass
>play The Cool Band
>huh
>huh huh
>this is cool
>huh huh
>headbanging
>play The Lame Band
>huh
>huh huh
>this sucks
>huh huh
>snoring
Real biting critiques right there
Gotta rope in those Headbangers Ball consumerrsss i mean bad ass huh huh rock on Metallica good!
Wow, you really broke down the content of the show perfectly! That's like me saying "Sopranos sucks"
>Tony does mafia thing
>Chrissy/Paulie say something stupid
>Tony cheat on wife
>Carmella b***h and moan
ZOMG you think THIS is the best drama?!
Yes
Did the Sopranos use the same two stock reactions for literally years on end and pad over half their show with other creators' work?
>Did the Sopranos use the same two stock reactions
What reactions are those? You have to remember that Beavis and Butt-Head were simpletons and couldn't delve too much into what they were watching other than this is good or bad. They would then proceed to give reasons as to why this is.
From a generation that watches homosexuals on Twitch scream at their screen I don't see how you can criticize Beavis and Butthead
The snoring or the Butthead-devil horns-and-Beavis-headbanging was a part of *every* video clip
And please tell me one thing BNB ever said that was a "great critique of current pop culture"
>Fire!
>Huh huh, fire!
>meanwhile the viewer has listened to the latest Danzig product and the merchants are happy
>The snoring or the Butthead-devil horns-and-Beavis-headbanging was a part of *every* video clip
There were much more moron. Like: the boys dancing, Butt-Head smacking Beavis once, Butt-Head smacking Beavis a bunch of times, Beavis kicking Butt-Head in the balls, Butt-Head or Beavis picking their nose, etc.
And they didn't use it EVERY video. Lots of videos they just sat their staring and laughing.
>And please tell me one thing BNB ever said that was a "great critique of current pop culture"
They ripped apart shitty glam rock bands who tried to be edgy and failed miserably. They would insert famous people's names into videos and talk about them. Such as
>"is that Oprah"
>"Oh yeah, she gets fatter all the time"
etc
You clearly have only seen around 3 clips on youtube. Watch the show and you will see what I'm talking about.
You're right, I'm slightly hyperbolic, but we seem to agree that the early seasons were cheaply made excuses to play more videos.
>were cheaply made excuses to play more videos.
Wrong. Animation was super expensive back then and they had to figure out a way to fill a half hour animated show without a half hour of animation. This was the solution. And it worked out ok. The videos have become my favorite part of the show as I've gotten older.
the show itself was great but the music video riffing was absolute dogshit. not only did you have to sit through shitty MTV music videos but the 'hilarious riffing' was, at best, mumbled nonsequitors, and most of the time it was stock footage of them doing fricking nothing. at the time it might have been novel but there's zero reason to subject yourself to it in this day and age unless you're the kind of mouthbreather who would watch hours of music videos back in the day. the only people who could possibly be entertained by those segments are unironically as fricking moronic as beavis and butthead are meant to be.
Holy frick kys moron. It was funny and most agree that it was funny. Go blogpost your butthurt somewhere else.
Judge is a visionary, Beavis and Butthead reacting to popular music videos is basically the streaming/Let's Play of today
The music videos were barely a part of the original show
I own every episode on disc, the early seasons are fricking ads with a 4 minute 'story' shoved in so it resembled a show
That's how it evolved. It was meant to be a little thing, but then they realized they had something so they had to pad it out for a full episode. By season 2 things got much better.
Nah the early seasons were short cartoons, the music videos were a small part in between. You don’t know what you’re talking about. The DVDs didn’t even have the music videos.
Yes, the animation sucked. And the voice would be ok if he just did B&B like 2 old genxers
Beavis sounds like how Eminem does nowadays
I'm not expert on sound engineering but can't they tweak Judge's voice in post to sound like the Beavis' of 25 years ago?
And yeah the animation is so fricking soulless. B&B always had a crudely drawn animated look. Now it looks like all the other garbage out there.
I thought a lot of the humans looked like metalocalypse characters and it turns out titmouse animated the movie so now it makes sense
It was ever good its just friends for stoners
Go watch a fortnite stream you zoomer homosexual
Are the remastered episodes up on Paramount Plus yet? It's the only thing I want to watch on the platform except for maybe nu-Trek just to get mad.
I’ll be able to let you know in about an hour or so. I just got the free trial for that shit and saw something about the Beavis and Butthead series. I assumed it was the newer episodes
Thanks anon
Beavis >>>>>>>>>>>>> Butt-head
for me, its Beaver and Buffcoat
