I've read the comic book, but it never said said how the King felt when he saw Griffith just appear out of nowhere looking completely normal even better than before. I mean the King KNEW that Griffith should have been in the dungeon for years or at least months. An even then he couldn't do shit to Griffith not fricking the shit out of his daughter nightly a few months later.

The entire point of the eclipse is forcing the viewer to empathize with Griffith before he sacrifices all of his followers and rapes a woman in front of Guts as a show of dominance.
