There's been a couple of good isekais this year. Arifureta and I'm a Spider both go to great lengths to give real stakes instead of just OP MC wins every fight easily.
Realist Hero is the best civ-builder isekai to date.
I watched ep1 of Overlord IV, didn't impress. The fact the youtube keeps recommending me the sniffing scene is not a great sign.
I've never seen an Isekai and I also tried watching Overlord and had to turn it off like halfway into the first episode
I probably had some bias against it though
I don't remember if it was subbed or dubbed but the VAing or artstyle wasn't the issue and it was more the subject matter. The "holy shit I'm in a video game this is epic lol boobs" really turned me off immediately..I'm sure there's some good writing in the series but I might be too much of a jaded crab to enjoy it. I think the scene where I turned it off was when two little kids ran up to the skeleton guy and were like "Hey viewer, are you read to explore this heckin game world with us?" and I thought "No, no I'm not" and turned it off

I only seek out new anime to watch once in a blue moon nowadays but Overlord wasn't jiving with me that night. Switched over to Demon Slayer Kimetsu since that was on Hulu too and finished the first season in a day
I've heard good things about Tanya in the past and may give that one a shot if I get the craving to try another isekai

The entire show is just characters sucking the MC's non-existent wiener. The vast majority of modern isekai is like that.

It's a bad show. The writing is shit, the characters are shit, the setting is shit. A lot of the people that i know that like it say that the worldbuilding is the best part, but that is also shit. The animation is also shit. The only good things about the show are the character designs, and even those are shit if you don't like the aesthetic.

I liked the first half of the first season. Felt it should of been longer since I felt that's kind of what the whole point of the show was supposed to be about. It would have been better if they split the first season into two seasons. Didn't finish Alheim Online but was enjoying it.

i saw a clip of an anime a while ago and since im bored now it sprung into my mind and i wanna see it
ok so theres this guy walking somewhere and he is clumsy and falls with a girl who now thinks he's a pervert
and he keeps walking being clumsy and shit making all these girls hate him
i remember one of them he bumped into her food tray or something and got tea all over her
then they all follow him to beat the shit out of him but the leader of the girls says he knows the guy from when they were younger and some shit and theres a flashback, they are in a classroom and the girl tricks the guy to say outloud what she told him to say which is something along the lines of "i wanna be a maiden when i grow up" or some shit, the teacher was asking what they wanted to be when they grew up
any ideas would be appreciated

One is enough for me, and the relentless, unstoppable and never ending release of new "different" isekais wants to make me barf >on this one the MC is really smart >on this one the MC is really dumb >on this one the MC is evil! >on this one the MC is a girl >on this one the MC don't want to get back home >on this one the MC has to fall in love to get back
And so on and so on....
I liked other stuff that could be considered isekai I guess, like Samurai Jack or Inuyasha.
But it's the artistic bankruptcy what's hurting the genre. Everything is pretty much the fricking same, saving one gimmick.
