I never had this cd, but I did have new age ones by Enigma and Enya and other artists on there.
I remember the ad and Return To Innocence playing on it.
I remember a commercial in the late 80s of jingles for your answering machine, it was just shitty, telephone-themed parodies of a few hit songs that would play as the greeting when someone called your answering machine. They must have been pretty short too because no one's going to sit through much of them. Anyone else remember that commercial? It came on a lot back the and it seemed to grate on everyone.
idk if you're a bot set to detect nostalgia shit or what, but i'm glad you always post this lineup.
man, i'd give up everything to go back to those days being a kid and watching all this.
The music industry hit it's peak in the year 2000 in terms of sales and revenue. They were a well-oiled machine by that point and knew how to attach prewritten catchy radio songs to young faces, and then leverage TV and cable to make them household names. So my mom knew who Hanson was thanks to the Today show and other daytime talk shows. Or you'd see them on late night shows. Or my sister would see them on MTV.
The fact that the medium was much narrower and under such direct corporate control meant a lot of things, namely that there were at least universally shared cultural experiences. Even if we rolled our eyes at a lot of the garbage THE MACHINE kept dumping onto us.
Anyway music sales started plummeting in the 2000s and never really recovered, probably due to piracy
Now the internet gives us a hyper-curated feed designed to tap into our unique insecurities and make us anger addicts.
I remember when this board would have Synchtube threads here like 10 years ago. I was 12 and a lot of people from what I could gauge were 20-23. I'm 22 now and those guys were sure as hell a lot clever and had a lot more chill than anyone in our early 20's age group nowadays.
>be that kid >have access to a $3kUSD pentium II PC >buy a set of encyclopedia britanicas >bzzz bzzz beeep >lose connection >MOM I"M USING THE WORLD WIDE WEB
things were slow but fricking comfy
No you don't. You miss being young, as do I. I mean I'm here in the same thread as you, but old cable wasn't good. Want to know why you remember Now thats what I call music commercials? Its because you saw them a collective few hundred times, as they were played during EVERY commercial break, every 8-10 minutes. It was an advertising scheme that literally worked, as you're still thinking about it to this day. But streaming/pirating is so much better than having to deal with commercial breaks every few minutes.
I downloaded a power puff girls theme for my AOL and Mojo Jojo would say MAIL IS WHAT YOU HAVE when I got mail. Any time someone got online Bubbles would say HEY which got annoying. Sending a message made the powerpunch sound.
The late 90s were a truely special time.

You know what’s a b***h? The original CD didn’t have that X-Files remix. You had to hunt down a reissue for it.
Damn this track-list is full of bangers. I only got NOW 9
How the heck were Hanson so famous back then yet you hear their music anymore, not even on one of those classic pop stations.
I met Hanson once. They were pretty nice guys.
I hate white liberals so much it’s unreal
Nice. They’re human
i knew the drummer kid was NOT a clean mmmbop kinda homie, he had that vibe

It means you're moronic for not having adblock in 2022
imagine being over 30 *vomit*
Half of all Cinemaphile users are probably over 30 at this point.
SPOILER: You'll be here in your 30s too.

Is that you Mayor Pete?
>see someone who died in 1998
>feel envious of them
it's not fair bros
When did it end for you guys? For me 9/11 set the downfall in motion and the final nail in the coffin was November 4, 2008.
Before 9/11 everything was peaceful. 08 obongo was something, but things got bad after 2012.
This is how I can tell you're underage and not trying to work for a living, because 2012 was objectively better than 2008
summer of 99, when JFK died, the South Park movie was out and Matchbox 20 released that song with Santana.
*JFK Jr.

watching the weather channel during hurricane season is by far one of my most comfy childhood memories
What about during winter when you knew that was coming the night before? Snow day!!!!!
Nothing will ever top weather channel music. 90s tv had so much soul compared to anything on tv or the internet today.
I still have that first song stuck in my head. And those graphics are so simple and clean?
>What's the weather today?
Snow
