No. The PT was not "reevaluated" at any point. What happened was the kids and teens who grew up with them became adults and naturally shifted the tone of online discourse. The ST will not experience the same kind of natural shift because it did not appeal to children whatsoever.

no one enthusiastically likes the sequel trilogy

The Last Jedi I don't think is even appropriate for kids under 12 to watch. Its overly violent and mean spirited in a way none of the other movies are, you have tons of good guy characters being killed on screen and the movie heavily dwells on that fact. Like the scene where this cute pilot girl just gets blown up in her wienerpit.

Its more that mainstream movies in general have become such unwatchable slop in the modern era, that it becomes hard to rag on movies like the Star Wars prequels. I'd even watch Crystal Skull over most of the junk being shoved down our throats these days.

Exactly. One of the most common complains about the prequel trilogy was that "Lucas is doing this to sell toys". Yes, he did that, and a lot of children became SW fans because of toys, or cartoons or videogames.

This never happened with the sequel trilogy. Toys didn't sale at all, there were no cartoons and there were zero videogames about the sequel trilogy. Nobody will have fond memories of the ST in 20 years.

Unlike you I actually hung around with prequel apologists back in the 00's. Everything they said then has turned out to be completely correct.

I've seen old forum posts of people analysing the Prequels at the time and correctly predicting certain events based solely on historical/mythical themes present in the other movies. This narrative that everyone hated the movies at release is pure cope.
In reality it's just journalists and critics with a personal vendetta against Lucas, and their bugmen audience who parrot everything they see in the news.

I think most ppl hated phantom menace at first due to the shock of how bad and boring child anakin was. Other than that phantom menace was and is decent. Attack of the clones is absolute garbage outside of a few decent scenes, and the end(though it fricking sucked not to actually see the clone war). I remember living revenge of the Sith and thinking it was almost as good as the original trilogy. To this day I think revenge of the sith is actually worthy of being in talks about favorite Star Wars movies.

No it won't - not as much. The Prequels expanded on Star Wars even if people didn't like them. The sequels are hollow and sterile. There isn't much to their universe beyond the films.

SW homosexuals ate up the prequels, so they will eat up the sequels as well, especially if you count that TLJ is actually the best SW movie since empire (which shits on all the prequel movies combined).

                >do chinks care about black+white?
Anon, they don't like black people to begin with. They don't like seeing race mixing with the exception of white + chink, with the latter being in control of the pairing. This is why Disney bends the knee to the CCP & PROC when it comes to minimizing POC roles among other things that wouldn't fly under the Chinese government. Hollywood has done this for decades to please them as much as possible, because Chinese box office revenue is potentially enormous and no israeli mogul wants to risk compromising that estimated gain.

Keep telling yourself that. By this point in the PT there were countless games, books, comics, card games all propping up the PT to keep it alive and push it. The ST has fricking nothing but a cancelled TV show and some books with fart weddings and a hotel riddled with a virus from 2020. The ST will always be hated and the only people involved who deserve forgiveness are the Rose actress, Gleeson and Max Von Sydow but he's dead

        You know why?

Because the buyers of the merchandise were middle aged straight men who were George's original audience during the age of the OT!
Disney's nu wars hasn't made a penny since they bought the ip!

i'll give the prequels credit for providing characters that were, at the very least, cool to look at, and did cool fighty moves. the prequels were actually quite good kids movies aside from the boring politics talk. i was born in the late 1990s and the prequels were actually my first foray into star wars and i actually found the fight scenes, lightsabers, force use and general aesthetics very cool as a child. the issue is they're just movies in every other aspect and don't hold up to scrutiny as an adult.

          Anonymous

People go on about the "boring politics", but I was an actual kid when these things came out and I never noticed.
There's this strange revisionism going on here where adults decide that kids must think the politics scenes are boring, I guess because they do.
Trade embargos meant exactly as much to me as a kid as an empire and a rebellion. It's just grown up background stuff that you ignore because you're taken in by the cool aliens, and the action,

The british actors have always been the highlight of most all the star wars films so i can understand the casting decision.

        Anonymous

The juxtoposition in the casting was a pretty big part of Lucas' movies though
You always had a mix of some literal who for the protag who seems to never find work again after, the American action star (Harrison Ford/Samuel L Jackson), the classical British stage actors (Alec Guinness, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, etc) and the sex israeliteess (Fisher, Portman)
If you throw all that away you're left with something that feels nothing like a Star Wars movie.

          Anonymous

Thats actually very true. i guess you could say Oscar Isaacs was the american action star and Adam Driver was the literal who but we didnt get a sexy israeliteess or really that many big british stage actors until the last movie with Ian Mcdiarmid and Richard E. Grant.

Max Von Sydow was in the movie for like 3 seconds at the start

Doubtful. Kids back then loved the prequels, and toy sales will back it up. The new movies aren't nearly as popular with kids. Kids like Marvel and Fortnite.
Plus the prequels are actually movies that are good, and respectable in a lot of ways. You can kick and scream about it, but it's true.
The new Star Wars movies are going to be regarded as something similar to Pirates of the Caribbean post-3, or The Karate Kid sequels, or the Hobbit movies. "Oh yeah. That happened".
