In retrospect, should Hickman have taken DC's offer to write Legion of Super-Heroes instead of doing X-Men?

Yes. DC would have let Hickman do whatever he wanted for however long he wanted.

I thought Hickman wanted LoSH but got wienerblocked by Bendis

That was the rumor at the time, yes. Because Bendis was currently doing nothing with Superman and LoSH after he signed on.

Bendis just likes to take what other people are doing any time it gets a little bit of fame.

No Hickman was doing something related to the New Gods for DC after he left Marvel and before he returned for Hoxpox.

The rumor running around is that Hickman wanted Superman or the Justice League, but DC only offered him the LoSH. Interesting to think about how different the landscapes for the DC or the X-Men would've been in the reality where they gave him what he wanted.

Frick, wish they'd offer me Legion of Super-Heroes. That'd be a dream.

WHAT?!? We could’ve been spared getting ass fricked by Bendis but they picked him over fricking Hickman?!?

They're both trash, and I'm glad they went with the one who crashed and burned fastest and most spectacularly.

        >walked when offered LoSH
damn, didn't these guys use to be popular

I think the bigger factor in his decision was Marvel giving him free reign with the X-Men lmao

It would be bad but it would also make the Legion popular so I'm incredibly conflicted

It would have been bad but probably an interesting bad unlike Bendis legion which was just regular bad

no, it was offensively bad. the redesigns were godawful

the redesigns were the only good thing, every time I see Cinemaphile complain about them I feel like I'm looking at different art

the art itself was great, the ideas questionable, e.g. the moronic element lad

Yeah I was just talking visually to be fair.

Bendis just likes to take what other people are doing any time it gets a little bit of fame.

When he was talking about Legion he seemed like a fan. Just didn't mean the stories were good

managing new ultimate line and probably writing another G.O.D.S. related run
      >inb4 its flop
yes i know getting axed early because not in top 10 best sellers but still i think because ultimate spider-man so successful marvel owe hickman favor so they gonna continue wynn adventures one way or another

    I would have preferred neither.

Computo leading a cyber revolution against the Legion frick den sounds every bit as uninteresting.

Was his X-Men any good? What'd he do with them?

It was good but editorial didn’t let him do what he wanted with Krakoa and wanted him to extend the Krakoa status quo indefinitely so he nope’d out

So he's responsible for that Krakoa garbage. Glad he didn't get anywhere near the Legion, then.

Given the rumors that have leaked over the years about Hickman's Legion pitch, be glad it didn't happen. As he wanted to do to Legion what Bendis did to the Avengers, without the explicit out that was Bendis's Legion being a new timeline that can easily be erased/demoted to alternate earth.

    >>Like Bendis rehashed the Byrne run Dark Scarlet Witch storyline, Hickman was going to rehash Starlin's infamous "Evil Brainiac 5" storyline and have Brainiac 5 go evil again because "he's a brainiac and brainiacs are always evil".

    >>Mon-El was going to be turned into a test tube super assassin created by Brainy, all of his convoluted origins were lies Brainy brainwashed all of the Legion into believing along with all of the continuity reboots being extensive mindrapes to keep the Legion under Brainy's control as far as retconning the TMK/Archie Reboot/Threeboot/Retroboots as being MKUltra type brainwashing the Legion were subjected to in order to handwave them away once and for all.

    >>Lots of classic Legion members would die; in particular Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy would die stopping Brainy, who would hook up with the Computer Tyrants of Colu to try and create a "Dominion" (which Hickman repurposed with the Phalanx in X-Men).

    >>The surviving Legion members would find a clone lab Brainy created Mon-El in and a bunch of clones of dead Legion members and a whole slew of hybrid clones of existing members, who would become the new defacto Legion.

There are so many holes in this only a DC editor could approve it.
