But to answer your question, the plot sucks, a lot. It's a rehash of the plot of the first movie, but this time Anxiety plays the antagonist and behaves like a genuine villain that sends Riley's "sense of self" and the 5 OG emotions to the back of Riley's mind and proceeds to change Riley's personality, flood her sleep with nightmares, undo her friendship and even commit theft in an attempt to be popular with the brown girl with danger hair that appears in the trailer, all while the 5 OG try to recover Riley's SOS and return to the HQ, all while the other new emotions do jackshit. The worst part is that the plot tries to portrait Anxiety as sympathetic in the same way the previous movie did with Sadness, except that unlike Sadness Anxiety is a 100% negative and destructive emotion that only causes damage to everyone. Also Disgust has a crush on a Final Fantasy-like character and Anger befriends a talking pouch.
>Also Disgust has a crush on a Final Fantasy-like character and Anger befriends a talking pouch.
Does this mean riley will grow up to be an autistic furry?
Probably, unless she can still discover Sailor moon and become a storyboarder that can only write "story of my life with a twist" where she is sailor moon and her bully is the villain
all the new characters should have just been the original 5 going crazy from hormones, this just stinks of execs looking for new toy lines (or writers wanting lecacy)
yeah, it should be about how the og emotions develop various negative manifestations that fight with each other, with Ridley having to learn how keep them in check and grow as a person
Anxiety straight up compares herself to Fear during her introduction even saying "Fear protects Riley from the things she can see, while I protect riley from the things she CAN'T see! :D".
>Disgust doesn't les out with Envy
shit movie/10
Envy barely has a character, at least in the novel. She's just Anxiety's Yes Ma'am and says things like "I wish I had [thing]" from time to time. She doesn't transform into an evil/monster versikn of herself as anons theorized
all the "new" emotions are just pointless "negative" versions of the regular emotions >Anxiety is Fear >Envy is Anger >Embarrassment is Disgust >Ennui is Sadness >Nostalgia is Joy
it's not even subtle, the whole conflict in the last movie was LITERALLY Joy being nostalgic to a damaging degree
It's a fricking movie people pay money for that shit. no stake is for series at best.

Most comedies have low stakes, and this movie, at least from the trailers, looks to be a lighthearted coming-of-age comedy. So I don't see the peoblem here

It feels like a Disney+ special and has a worse understanding of teenagers' emotions than Turning Red. We should be past the point of viewing them as organic robots

I can agree and understand wanting to avoid any woke shit now and days, but anon you have to realize that media can still be shit and poorly made even if it isn't woke.
Like, a bad movie is still a bad movie, woke or not. Don't give this trash the time of day because it does the bare minimum to try and get your attention.
Actually Riley AND Anxiety get to have their respective panic attacks at the climax of the movie, with Anxiety's being manifested as a storm that blocks the control panel and causes Riley's panic attack.
I did get the feeling that is what it would have been about from the trailer. I liked the first movie, and I remember one of the complaints about it was that only Joy and Sadness are the only on the adventure while the other emotions are left behind, so I was happy to see that all of them were on the adventure this time but at the same time it gave vibes of a Direct to DVD sequel.
the brown girl is a thief...
how well is THAT going to go over?
Why is this the most white woman film pixar has ever made? This movie really does make Wreck It Ralph 2's plot less embarrassing.
Riley IS the thief. Anxiety removes Riley's memory of theft being bad and forces her to steal her coach's notebook that contains notes about every camp member in order to see how Riley can improve as a hockey player and be part of miss danger hair's team.Anxiety also makes Riley die her hair to resemble that other girl's.
ah, ok, not as problematic has you made it sound originally.
I get that anxiety is the root of a lot of stress, but I'm really not sure why anxiety normally makes people do that? Like wouldn't that be an Envy thing to do? I want to be better, so I must commit a crime to achieve that? Read your other posts about the other emotions...
I hope not, because then these "woke" and liberal animators will become more dependent on Canada and other countries for more serious animation, only to then face the rude awakening of the USA being the only real nation with full artistic freedom
You may even see some who believe animation's purpose was always to be a propaganda tool
>Lust
Ignoring the coomer arguments, this unironically should have happened.
Lust gets teenagers into so much shit and is the cause of at least half of their issues.
I know that Disney has to keep their "family friendly" appearance, but the fact that they decided to have a movie about puberty and not even mention/hint at the fact that teenagers are horny bastards is bizarre.

Sometimes it feels like they're wagging the dog for another studio to release a Sausage Party-style cartoon movie that deals with teens' issues
>The only new emotion that needs to be there is Lust
They probably would have to call them something like "Passion" but I agree. Lust is both a negative and positive emotion, and fits with Riley growing older. It is also easy to handwave away one emotion not showing up in the previous film. You can make a gag about them always having been off-screen before.
That would shatter the illusion of lust being some kind of "unlocked reward" for surviving puberty

reading all the spoilers, this looks like an episode of Braceface. Where's the antagonist, where's the climax? Riley comes up as a fricking bland, assinine person.
Movies (unless it's Sony) tend to be released two days earlier in the Philippines. I recall there was even one time when GOTG Vol 2 premiered there two whole weeks in advance before it dropped in the US.
I've watched the movie earlier today and I'd say it's not half bad to say the least, even though it's kinda a rehash of the first film as some of you may say. Instead of Joy who fricked up, it's Anxiety this time. Although to be fair there's still some areas that Joy messed up (discarding memories to the back of the mind). Story's alright but it's not as heartwarming as the first movie. I've kinda expected that the movie would balance the screentime among the new emotions but I was wrong. Envy did nothing significant in the film whatsoever. The movie also suffers with weird pacing, like when Riley got emotional on her mom when she haven't packed for hockey camp yet. I also find it confusing that the Firehawks suddenly have bonded with Riley even though they literally backstabbed her the minute she first fricks up. They even invited her into some night out or something like nothing happened? I still enjoyed the movie though. The mixed animation part with the toddler cartoon parody and the Final Fantasy character is kinda funny. Their representation of stuff like panic attacks etc. is great in my opinion. I wish they could've just explored with Fear and Disgust more though rather than adding Anxiety and Envy.
To be honest I haven't thought about it that much till you said it and it did bother me now that you mentioned it. They really didn't explain anything. They only showed the parents having their own version of Anxiety, not the other ones. I think they showed it in the final trailer too and if I can recall, that scene only appeared during the start of the credits. I only remember the mom's emotions trying to calm down anxiety and tell her to go back and hide or something. Pretty much half-assed.
>the movie would balance the screentime among the new emotions but I was wrong
funny, they cut down the planned emotions to 5 in the original because they saw how hard it was to balance screen time
Yep I really didn't dig how much of the cast there was for the wholeass movie. Pretty much my pacing issues would be resolved if they removed a lot of side characters or just balanced the shit out of it.
Anon, most adults won't realize kids and teens have real, complex emotions for another 100 years, the only thing that would mildly speed things up is some 9/11-sized disaster
It's weird to live in a world where adult start to pretend they forgot their whole past the moment they hit 18. I'm so sick of that fake amnesia, talking about your childhood/teenagehood at work is a dreadful collection of "o yeah I was le dumb I am a genius now" "uh? nah I don't remember anybody doing THAT", and "well yeah but I was really different you see"
The premise of Inside Out will always be fricked since Riley, a human, is basically a non-character who only exists so the actual characters can exist and do things. Something about that just really bothers me and feels wrong. Like it makes sense in mecha animes, but not when the mecha is an actual human being. Especially a kid who doesn't fight or anything. With that said, the art is 11/10.
Flip anon here. It's literally just that monstrous brute thing. The only thing it did was to free the 5 emotions out of the jar that Anxiety imprisoned them in. I guess they didn't explain it since it's literally a deep, dark secret?
I thought it was a joke at first. She didn't have any scenes in a bathroom but there's a scene where she wears one of her old shirts and she's sad that she outgrown it and it looks like a crop top now lol. There are scenes in a locker room too but nothing about her changing that much. The high schoolers do get something though something that's still PG-13. Example: I remember one girl with a sports bra on and is putting on deodorant.
>It's another "the villain can't be a villain" movie
Anxiety is something we deal with, but it's something to be managed, not embraced. It provides no emotional catharsis in the way sadness does and does not benefit us
It's fundamentally an emotion that can not be left to run wild.
seriously the easiest way this could have all been managed is in the end, anxiety isn't redeemed and she gets sent to emotional jail or she gets weakened
she's still there, she's just not as powerful anymore and everyone knows that if she's kept at bay, she won't cause damage and become stronger
the actual best ending is that the new emotions just merge with the existing emotions, because overcoming and embracing those negative feelings is part of growing up, not just shoving them somewhere out of the way.
and it explains why the adults don't have them in the first movie better than just a half-assed retcon that they were there, just hidden away. BUT all this would also require greater characterization for the new emotions beyond just "we are also here."
The usa release date is in about 1 and a half days.
I repeat a little over ONE DAY.
So there is a good chance someone online could post a leaked mega (better be 4k U-hd) of the movie here by tomorrow.
Will that happen? Probably not.

movie should have been about body image issues when roley starts to get fat from all that fast food take out and all that uber instead of walking.
The only reason this movie goes soft is because DeSantis would kick Disney out of Florida if they went all-in on teen issues
Disney bent the knee
I've watched the movie earlier today and I'd say it's not half bad to say the least, even though it's kinda a rehash of the first film as some of you may say. Why has it taken close to 100 fricking years for adults to understand that kids have even basic emotions?
Is there a toilet scene?
Does the movie even address why Riley's parents didn't have the new emotions in the original
To be honest I haven't thought about it that much till you said it and it did bother me now that you mentioned it. They really didn't explain anything. It's probably that she cheated at a hockey game or something

She looks like she's preparing to pee standing up...
Ahh so this is where this one came from

Does Riley actually show her bare toes?
Yes, according to the art book
Good lord can someone please leak that scene my dick cannot handle the thought of her barefoot with that smile of hers.
I MUST COOM!!!!
UUUOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH
I wish I worked at Disney as the certified dicky artist. Well a man can dream

Are you telling me there's no lesbians?
Frick you, make it lame and gay or I'm not watching it
well it's lame at least
It's lame and sterile which is somehow worse than lame and gay
Watching the final trailer is pretty obvious Riley was nervous around the older girl because of how cool she was. Not because of homosexuality.
I assume he's not in it
I could swear i saw the kid in one of Riley's hallucinations dreaming of the cool girl stealing him away like in that one meme pic
He left her for danger hair girl?
I guess it's recreating that old meme, but does that mean they are dating? Doesn't seem like it's mentioned anywhere on the film
i have no nude edit and i must coom

Apparently Riley has an orgy with a bunch of fat faceless bald men. It's actually quite touching and the climax of the movie
African American fans will be glad to learn that the vast majority of Lewis Black's lines come up whenever Riley sees one of them
(These scenes also heavily feature Liza Lapira)
