It's not surprising that she has super durability, but I do think it would've been more interesting had she been a glass cannon who was just as physically weak as a normal person.

Nta, but yes, that was a weird scene. I can give them the benefit of the doubt he was caught off guard and didn't want to leave that spot, but in general I am hating what they're doing with his powers, and power levels in general to be honest. I've watched every episode (not sure it's something one's supposed to say out load) and I was sure a bullet to the head would have killed Neuman. Another thing that surprised me is Firecracker holding her own with Asian Deadpool for that long, ending unscathed. I have the feeling that was convenient for the plot and she's not really that strong. Now that I think about it, another time it didn't feel right was Stormfront's lighting bolt doing literally nothing to humans while it was supposed to be deadly. Not to mention Maeve's punch hurting Homelander that much.

Not sure about the show, but in the comic Compound V is in the water supply across the country. It's all random who actually gets powers, most people infected don't even have powers.
This is important because Butcher at the end of the series wants to release a compound which will kill everyone with compound v in their system. It's a crucial part of his character.
The show removing this element from the world just to have all supes grown in a lab was fricking stupid.

They all have super durability and strength to some degree, but at minimum makes them invulnerable to non-super forms of harm, like bullets, bombs, knives and the like. The entire story couldn't work without it if humans could just kill supers whenever they want.
in the comics pure V gave invincibility and super strength, everything else were just mutations. The Boys in the comics only had pure V and were stronger than 99% of the other supes. You don't actually need any fancy gimmicks.

Yeah, given Homelander's durability, I could believe that headpopping simply wouldn't work on him.
But no one in the show knows that for sure, not even Homelander. I don’t care how strong I am, if another superhero has the power to effortlessly pop people’s heads, I’d be cautious of them. That’s not something you want to find out you can’t survive. Yet he seems so confident he can take her, when he’s been shown to be scared and apprehensive about dealing with someone like Soldier Boy. He knows he’s not invincible anymore. If the show had better writing, they would have some tension around the fact she might be able to instakill him, yet they never explore that and we just have to take their word for it.

We do know that. She's tried to pop the head of a durable supe and it just made them bleed a little.
The guy who was in the supe orphanage with her. She eventually pops him but it takes some doing and he is presumably nowhere near as strong as Homelander
Over 40 years of being untouchable would give him good reason to be confident. We also saw that she struggled to head pop a far weaker supe than homelander. Even if she managed to give him a headache, he'd take her head off for trying.
It’s not effortless though. It takes at least 5 or so seconds for non supes to pop. That’s why she’s never tried it on homelander: even if she could theoretically pop him he would rip her head off before she could finish.
In the courtroom scene, heads were popping left and right and she moved her gaze around. Including the supe in the room. The only time we saw it take a few seconds was for dramatic effect when she was popping that one CIA lady’s head. It’s effortless and very quick. And she doesn’t need to be face to face with Homelander to do it, he just needs to be within her eye line.

That's literally what happens to any Superhuman when they go against The Boys in this show. They either get blackmailed, distracted, they are enhanced or they see The Boys as no threat so they live. Rinse and repeat for 4 seasons now. Which is ridiculous since at this point, they have taken down Translucent, Stormfront, and Soldier Boy.
She's a politician. She won't get into fights unless it benefits her. This is also her weakness as Butcher and Hughue knew they had a chance if they simply talk with her.

In the courtroom scene, heads were popping left and right and she moved her gaze around. Including the supe in the room. The only time we saw it take a few seconds was for dramatic effect when she was popping that one CIA lady’s head. It’s effortless and very quick. And she doesn’t need to be face to face with Homelander to do it, he just needs to be within her eye line.

Heat vision, hearing, strength, durability and flight means he can cripple and destroy a country in a matter of hours, and he has a game plan to do exactly that. He wasn't really trying to kill Maeve at the end of season 3, just incapacitate.
