Old guy. Centrally tied to the backstory and close to the active story, but also in a way a non-actor that only shows up at key plot moments to be a plot device and the rest of the time he's on the sidelines puking exposition and being a cheer leader. Not an exact parallel, but the same in the way they're kind of part of the scaffolding that holds the story up.

Anon, the first season was the loosest of adaptations and this season is going to deviate further. The author even said that the cartoon is the new canon. Yes he is that much of a corpo wiener sucking homosexual.
I mean he wrote both the comic and the show, the latter allows him to redo a lot of the story and pacing without the limitations of comics which emphasized shock value just to stay afloat and keep selling.
Feel pretty faithful in the key plot points. Pacing is the biggest difference as well as some minor characters but everything with the main plots seem to be going down fundamentally the same.
iirc in an interview he said his editor at the time forced him to move the omniman vs mark fight forward in the story because of low sales. Season 1 is probably more along the lines of what he wanted to do with that specific part of the story originally.

Invincible is pretty much the definitive superhero comic, which is ironic because it started out as a parody/subversion of superhero comics. Like it's got most of the tropes and hallmarks of the genre but it actually has a clear beginning and ending unlike Marvel/DC.

As long as you don't consider the spin-off titles and other comics set in Kirkman's corner of the Image Universe but yeah, 99% of the people who read Invincible because of the show likely didn't bother with the other stuff

It did not, it was always a homage to the Spider-Man and Superboy comics of ye olden days, if those books had contained R rated stuff.
It doesn't mock the genre like The Boys or try to deconstruct it like Watchmen, it loves the classic beats of the Old Stuff.
It's funny, after S1 I marathoned through most of Invincible, I think. I at least got to the part where the interdimensional war happens and Eve gets reborn but I've forgotten almost everything about what happened in the story now. It was just that tiresome.
I do wonder if female fans will get upset that they spend so much time with her as the "sad widow" archetype. Especially when S1 gave her way more of an attitude and backbone.

She isn't, even without the limiter Eve is using her own body to convert molecules, so she is limited to what her body can sustain, that's why throughout the entire comics you don't see limitless Eve doing something as grand as mess with an entire city or something of that scope; Dr. Manhattan was deliberately made to be without any limits, the god imagery all over his character is because of that.

I feel like it's not just the animation but rather the direction, the show and the shot composition is very very flat for the most part so it feels cheap and bland.
The most memorable moments like Omni-Man vs the Guardians of the Globe and Invincible, even with their lacklustre animation, manage to sell the fights by emphasizing the sound design and actually move the camera and change shots per punch to make the scene feel more dynamic.
This is the second time he's told Mark to abandon people to die and about the third he's brought up Mark's dad to try and guilt him into behaving the way he wants. And this is while he's studying ways to counter Invincible.
He is literally a groomer for the state. It's his job to earn the trust of those he employ. Especially teenagers under the legal age to serve in the military or have sexual relations. He is kind of a frick.
In his defense there weren't any kids in the original Guardians, he only did that when he needed to get a team together in a hurry.
Cecil, it shows more and more as the comic goes on, is just a guy trying to hold the entire world together as crisis after crisis pulls it apart, and he has to step over boundaries for the greater good. Shit like working with Sinclair, etc.
In the grand scheme of how the world works in the comics he is indeed doing what must be done for the greater good but harder doubt he will make amends to any of the heroes he employs for robbing them of their youth.

Thadeus recognized her during the Viltrumite War, considering he killed Argall and left the Empire 10,000 years before the events of the series, she must be one of the oldest surviving Viltrumites.
It was memed/questioned why she had gray hair. They wanted to confirm that yes she is old. But she also ends up having kids implying viltrumites are always virile no matter the age. Also wish conquest lived I want to see him become a dad.
If next episode or at least the one after adapts Kregg and the other Viltrumites invading Thraxa, it’ll be a bit weird since a large part of it frames how much kinder Nolan is to the average Viltrumite, kinda hard in the show with how much more ruthless he is.

Feel pretty faithful in the key plot points. Pacing is the biggest difference as well as some minor characters but everything with the main plots seem to be going down fundamentally the same.
iirc in an interview he said his editor at the time forced him to move the omniman vs mark fight forward in the story because of low sales. Season 1 is probably more along the lines of what he wanted to do with that specific part of the story originally.

It did not, it was always a homage to the Spider-Man and Superboy comics of ye olden days, if those books had contained R rated stuff.

hard to say for sure, the start is much more comedy focused, which is a key indicator of the writters not being sure what they want from the story.

I feel like it's not just the animation but rather the direction, the show and the shot composition is very very flat for the most part so it feels cheap and bland.
The most memorable moments like Omni-Man vs the Guardians of the Globe and Invincible, even with their lacklustre animation, manage to sell the fights by emphasizing the sound design and actually move the camera and change shots per punch to make the scene feel more dynamic.
The animation does legit feel a lot cheaper, I bet they have some tightness on the production side.

In his defense there weren't any kids in the original Guardians, he only did that when he needed to get a team together in a hurry.
Cecil, it shows more and more as the comic goes on, is just a guy trying to hold the entire world together as crisis after crisis pulls it apart, and he has to step over boundaries for the greater good. Shit like working with Sinclair, etc.
In the grand scheme of how the world works in the comics he is indeed doing what must be done for the greater good but harder doubt he will make amends to any of the heroes he employs for robbing them of their youth.
