Well yeah, God 100% exists in the Hellboy universe.

Even Satan believes in God, anon. He's literally seen Him as close to "in the flesh" as He can be.

Well, God definitely exists based upon the fact that he is a demon. Secondly, he was born a demon and didn't do anything evil to become one, so logically it's not "wrong" for him to worship Christ and seek absolution from his sinful heritage.

I don't think a required part of being a demon is not believing in God, anon. It may be one of their goals to make people NOT believe in God, but demons typically are portrayed as knowing damn well that God does exist.

by that logic we're free to call you an idiot.

Were people really butthurt about the ending being exactly what it said on the tin 20 years ago?

      Anonymous

People were more annoyed about how rushed and anti-climactic it was rather than the premise. Mignola wanted to leave comics and go do life drawing for the rest of his life but didn't trust anyone to take care of the IP without him, so he rushed it and wrapped everything up in about a fifth of the time it needed.

I didn't think it was rushed when I read through it. I think /toon/mblr are just a bunch of gays, as usual.

Of course he believes in God, anon. His right hand literally contains a portion of the Big G's power.

Agreed. I can't even fathom how anyone can call a story three decades in the making "rushed." The Devil You Know wasn't perfect, but it wasn't hot garbage like /toon/ says it is either.

Did God or angels or anything like that ever appear in the comic or is some American Horror Story scenario where it's just demons and Hell and that all the time with absolutely nothing from the other side.

Both God and angels undeniably exist in the Hellboy Universe, but we never actually see God himself (for obvious reasons).

Also the fact that Hellboy was initially characterised as a someone who continually gave the middle finger to fate because it was the right thing to do, except the ending was just a big "You can't escape fate and destiny whatever you do, fuck you". More than a little ending.

          Anonymous

A problem with his whole fight fate thing is that all he ever did was fight, destroy and kill. At no point did he try to build a life or a future so all that was left for him in the end was ashes and that sweet Hecate snussy

You're gramps was either hallucinating or lying to you, according to mainline Christen canon, demons are not creatures but purely spiritual beings. They also don't look evil or ugly or anything, but are in fact unearthly beautiful, because would you give in to the temptation of something that looked like an aborted nightmare?

Because no matter how crazy Mignola can get, he's a pretty fucking great artist. It's too bad that Amazing Screw On Head was too expensive to make, it captured his artstyle perfectly.
