same i went into it blind without watching the miniseries
probably not the best way to watch, the way it drops you into the action is pretty cool though. the cylons are really mysterious and you have no idea what's going on at first. you piece it together as the show progresses.

It does spoil a little bit of the miniseries if you watch them like that, but it's not too bad. A couple of the other movies/TV sppecials are kinda like that, where they just show you a different perspective of time frame of the main series events
>let’s just abandon all our advanced technology and medicine that was the only thing keeping us alive and just frick prehistoric Black folk all day long
Woah what a kino ending! Also you are aware they just made Starbuck disappear because they hacked together the storyline episode by episode with absolutely zero idea as to where they were going or would end up?
you probably complain about the religious elements and deus ex machina even though head six said she was an angel sent by god since literally the first episode after the miniseries
Stop inventing a straw man and comment on what I actually wrote in my post, schizo. The ending was trash and made no sense because the show runners didn’t know what to do either.
i was just checking
yeah it doesn't make sense they'd get rid of all their technology, like asking some kid to give up his asthma inhaler or some kidney patient to stop dialysis
giving up the ships seems more believable, i can believe just about everyone hated those fricking things after slaving on them for a year and a half, no one wants to fix or process fuel or whatever for them anymore
By the way, this is now a BSG thread. OP should leave to avoid spoilers... I am still disappointed that they never confirmed Daniel was her father, making her the first hybrid.
space is essentially devoid of oxidizers and erosion though
yeah its strong, surviving its numerous pummelings and one reentry (not landing though), but i don't think simple environment erosion is something it was designed for
there are almost certainly chunks of plastic or more exotic materials that might've survived, maybe some particularly large chunks of metal wouldn't have completely weathered away, but it seems like it would almost certainly be unrecognizable as just some chunks in a field

This was spelled out in the prequel to the series that was called Caprica. Very few people watched it though.
I rewatch BSG every year or so. You may hear people complain about the ending. I didn't have a problem with it, but I do turn it off before the shitty final scene which is completely unnecessary, and probably only exists as a further explanation for idiots.
To be fair there are a lot of idiots who didn't realise what was happening until they spelled it out in that scene, even though Six literally told Balthar that she was sent by God in the miniseries. Several times.
>there are no ugly people
*stops you in your path*
Also the crazy plastic surgery cancer granny was not easy on the eyes (or ears) either.
>this pathetic ragtag group of refugees is struggling to survive >has probably the most attractive cast in sci fi TV history
Love the juxtaposition of premise and cast.
>You may hear people complain about the ending. I didn't have a problem with it,
I thought it was ok. Ending a show like this in a satisfying way is extremely difficult and they did a satisfactory job.
I can understand why people were upset back in the day, but the standards for endings or just writing in general have plummeted since. BSG ending is mediocre at worst.
The effects are a little janky in places but considering it's a TV show from 18 years ago they're really, really great. The effects aren't why you watch it though, you watch it for the brilliant characters and unbearable tension, the action scenes are like the dessert after an exquisite meal.
>the effects were dated but whatever
The battle scenes are still brilliant, tense and badass. Every single shot of the Galactica's point defense systems blasting away is cool.
It literally doesn't make any sense.l
Rockets flying in space where the distances a millions of miles apart
You could just evade any rocket long before it had time to reach you
if you watch the show they fight like battleships trading broadsides at close range.
the galactica has frick all evasion capability, so it puts up a flak screen. i don't even know what the vipers do except get killed by cylon raiders.
>Rockets flying in space where the distances a millions of miles apart >You could just evade any rocket long before it had time to reach you
That's why the ships get close enough that they can actually hit each other. They aren't fighting at ranges of millions of miles.
rockets can adjust their course way faster than you can evade since they're substantially lighter and can experience mind-boggling accelerative forces that would be hard to overlook with all but the most advanced 'inertial dampener' technology
not that it matters because BSG goes for the naval style combat, with ranges being like 100km or less. Whether this is typical of battles in-universe, or just something Adama did in the show because he knew the galactica was substantially better armored than basestars, we'll never know
real talk: if they had landed the galactica or another ship, would it still be around 150,000 years later? it would obviously be a rusted hulk if anything but would it be recognizably something human made? or just a lump of iron?
150k years of weathering i would assume it would be reduced to dust, unless it were buried.

idk i'm not a frackin' scientist m8
the oxygen provided by the atmosphere in the ship should be pretty minimal compared to the explosive's own oxidizer, but yeah an explosion should light up for a while until it runs out of oxidizer and cools enough for the gases and heated soilids to stop incandescing
Any solid or liquid oxidizer agents would probably keep the fires burning just fine as long as the reaction is big enough to continue consuming them before they drift too far
Thought it was a boring show. Was about to quit, when the scene of the scientist ghost fricking half naked Tricia Helfer came up. From then I was glued to the screen.
I thought it went to shit and became a confusing mess after a while, but now that i think about it i wonder if i should watch it again as my own perspective has changed a lot since, and i wonder if i might be able to understand and appreciate it better now
>Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We're evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go.
Punished Tigh was absolute kino and this scene was the cherry on top https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jiYitBoDW0
The battle music alone gets my blood pumping, but Prelude to War holds a special place thanks to the gold that is Pegasus storyline
No i hated it. They say "frack" instead of frick. So alot of "fracking" "frack that" "frack". Also i hated the characters. They were all garbage except the guy who had visions.
hes unironically a sick deranged evil fricker
i mean the whole show including the genocide of humanity is him punishing his parents because he's butthurt they made him organic instead of a proper machine
To be honest, a bit of a disappointment. Although Tricia Helfer is hot enough to make me jerk off, her breasts aren't big enough to see me through to completion.
Did you know that Zarek was Apollo in the original BSG?
Also, the names that are used as callsigns in the 2004 BSG were often the actual names of the characters in the original. Like he wasn't Lee "Apollo" Adama, he was Captain Apollo, and so on:
2004 BSG is military sci-fi so they use callsigns like Air Force pilots.
original show was weird, everyone dressed in spandex and silk and there were humanoid lizards and other shit.
man I hate those weird unisex bra shirts.
Up until Black Market and Scar, frick those episodes and frick you.
I skip those, the rest is great.
Scar is based
yes
woman king is worse than either. black market didn't bother me as much on last rewatch
>Up until Black Market and Scar
they really should have kept it to 13 episodes per season
there was too much padding after the first season
Black Market is a homage to the 70s show and Scar is essential to character development and is KINO.
Yeah it's kino. Make sure you start with the miniseries, that goes before season 1.
Thanks, do I need any backround knowledge on the 1978 series or can I just watch this on its own?
Nope it's a completely standalone thing
no it's totally irrelevant other than a couple visual easter eggs
It's pretty much a word-for-word reenactment.
yeah if you never saw the either of them i'd see how you could think that
i don't believe that but that would be kino
thanks jim
I watched the miniseries after finishing the whole series and it was a great experience
i started watching not long before season 4 started
same i went into it blind without watching the miniseries

Yeah but it jumps the shark hard from the end of season 3 onwards
This. Just watch the miniseries and seasons 1-3 for the best of nuBSG.

OP here, feel free to discuss the show with spoilers, don't mind me
Thanks for the replies everyone
is this ireland or something? really beautiful.
The whole show was filmed in Canada, those scenes were in Kamloops in British Columbia
What do they eat?
Meat.
What's their tax policy? Are Cylons tax exempt?
This was spelled out in the prequel to the series that was called Caprica. Very few people watched it though.
In British Columbia? British Cocaine I guess
kek
the way Apollo got blueballed really hit me hard
It's excellent
It has some of the best space battles ever produced.
I rewatch BSG every year or so. You may hear people complain about the ending. I didn't have a problem with it, but I do turn it off before the shitty final scene which is completely unnecessary, and probably only exists as a further explanation for idiots.
yeah the flash forward is truly eye-rolling
turn it off at the flash forward, you'll know it when you see it
To be fair there are a lot of idiots who didn't realise what was happening until they spelled it out in that scene, even though Six literally told Balthar that she was sent by God in the miniseries. Several times.

its gud
if they made it today you would absolutely need some ugly people in the main cast
>there are no ugly people
*stops you in your path*
Also the crazy plastic surgery cancer granny was not easy on the eyes (or ears) either.
lol my gf hates her and Dualla, she mentions her several times each time we rewatch.
>Dualla
Why? Dualla is fine af
WE NEED A MEDIC!
F
Shut up Cally was cute. Would marry.
it was god
SO SAY WE ALL
The first time I saw this after the 3 episodes of misery on new cap was fricking nuts
if you're into post-911 us vs them military drama that just happens to take place in space, yes. probably the best sci fi show ever produced.
>probably the best sci fi show ever produced.
Was true until Ronald Moore started producing For All Mankind.
The man cannot be stopped.
>apple tv
so it basically doesn't exist
I'm not gonna watch it if he cast that talentless homosexual
you take that back right now. joel kinoman is fricking great. the heart and soul of that show.
i'll be pissed when he goes.
Among us ruined rewatch of this for me
I couldn't not focus on the cylon sus meme
i watched a youtube video the other day, the effects were dated but whatever, i was wondering if it was worth the watch.

Why would you ever get close to a Cylon ship?
They usually do their FTL jumps right to within firing distance IIRC.
The Cylons were chasing them, they only sought them out on a couple of occasions to accomplish very specific missions.
They aren't millions of miles apart, what are you smoking?

are you moronic
KINOEST OF KINO
I want to frick Sharon SO BAD
worst case of yellow fever ever bros, 18 years running
Same
Still the best space kino we've gotten yet imo.
I'd rank it tied with Deep Space Nine, but both of them are leagues ahead of everything else
> what is the expanse?
homosexual.
the expanse triggered a lot of pseuds
You can just tell Ellen was based on someone Ronald D Moore knew in real life
real talk: if they had landed the galactica or another ship, would it still be around 150,000 years later? it would obviously be a rusted hulk if anything but would it be recognizably something human made? or just a lump of iron?
150k years of weathering i would assume it would be reduced to dust, unless it were buried.
It was made to last and survive space + reentry. I reckon it wouldn’t be completely gone within 150k years.

high IQ post
Is this accurate of what a fiery explosion in space would be like? Fire should be able to breathe for a second or two right?
the cylon ships are pressurized so yeah maybe.
idk i'm not a frackin' scientist m8

>miniseries, season 1, first half of season 2
the only parts worth watching
I'd give it to the end of 2, but yes, 3 is shit.
No it is not. It have no plan. They just pull meaningless events from their ass and string you along indefinitely.
My favourite scene is when Adama decides to put the fleet back together.
?t=184
>nobody is posting literal pieces of artwork from the show
>You wil never experience a menage trois with them
Why even?
just be baltar bro
I always thought she was hotter as her dirty blonde variants.
It's one of my all time favorite shows.
I thought it went to shit and became a confusing mess after a while, but now that i think about it i wonder if i should watch it again as my own perspective has changed a lot since, and i wonder if i might be able to understand and appreciate it better now
no it does become a confusing mess after season 3. classic example of jumping the shark.
still moments of kino throughout.
>it's Chief getting his toaster heart trampled by roasties episode
>when he strangles the poo
righteous
She was fine af tho
The show's soundtrack doesn't get enough love
passagalica and something dark is coming are the peaks
>Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We're evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go.
Punished Tigh was absolute kino and this scene was the cherry on top https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jiYitBoDW0

Elevated a 7/10 to a 10/10 show
thing i love about this song is the lyrics make no sense until you realize he's doped up opiates.
No i hated it. They say "frack" instead of frick. So alot of "fracking" "frack that" "frack". Also i hated the characters. They were all garbage except the guy who had visions.
>it's Gaeta scratching his rotting stump episode
First half yes, second half HELL NO.
Pleb.
I didn't like the ending but the series as a whole was full of SOUL. Saul was a kino character.
It somehow manages to filter the biggest dipshits on here. Watch the whole thing and judge for yourself.
What if it had ended here?
Why did he frick his mom?
hes unironically a sick deranged evil fricker
i mean the whole show including the genocide of humanity is him punishing his parents because he's butthurt they made him organic instead of a proper machine
I used to think so, but I was recently rewatching it and now I think Starbuck is really cringey.
>t. Tigh
Go find where the grunts have a still already, you need a drink.
To be honest, a bit of a disappointment. Although Tricia Helfer is hot enough to make me jerk off, her breasts aren't big enough to see me through to completion.

No
my favorite character was Leoben, they done him dirty
