probably not the best way to watch, the way it drops you into the action is pretty cool though. the cylons are really mysterious and you have no idea what's going on at first. you piece it together as the show progresses.

It does spoil a little bit of the miniseries if you watch them like that, but it's not too bad. A couple of the other movies/TV sppecials are kinda like that, where they just show you a different perspective of time frame of the main series events

space is essentially devoid of oxidizers and erosion though
yeah its strong, surviving its numerous pummelings and one reentry (not landing though), but i don't think simple environment erosion is something it was designed for

there are almost certainly chunks of plastic or more exotic materials that might've survived, maybe some particularly large chunks of metal wouldn't have completely weathered away, but it seems like it would almost certainly be unrecognizable as just some chunks in a field

To be fair there are a lot of idiots who didn't realise what was happening until they spelled it out in that scene, even though Six literally told Balthar that she was sent by God in the miniseries. Several times.

The effects are a little janky in places but considering it's a TV show from 18 years ago they're really, really great. The effects aren't why you watch it though, you watch it for the brilliant characters and unbearable tension, the action scenes are like the dessert after an exquisite meal.

          >Rockets flying in space where the distances a millions of miles apart

That's why the ships get close enough that they can actually hit each other. They aren't fighting at ranges of millions of miles.

rockets can adjust their course way faster than you can evade since they're substantially lighter and can experience mind-boggling accelerative forces that would be hard to overlook with all but the most advanced 'inertial dampener' technology

not that it matters because BSG goes for the naval style combat, with ranges being like 100km or less. Whether this is typical of battles in-universe, or just something Adama did in the show because he knew the galactica was substantially better armored than basestars, we'll never know

              idk i'm not a frackin' scientist m8

the oxygen provided by the atmosphere in the ship should be pretty minimal compared to the explosive's own oxidizer, but yeah an explosion should light up for a while until it runs out of oxidizer and cools enough for the gases and heated soilids to stop incandescing

Any solid or liquid oxidizer agents would probably keep the fires burning just fine as long as the reaction is big enough to continue consuming them before they drift too far

Did you know that Zarek was Apollo in the original BSG?

Also, the names that are used as callsigns in the 2004 BSG were often the actual names of the characters in the original. Like he wasn't Lee "Apollo" Adama, he was Captain Apollo, and so on:

    >Lieutenant Boomer -> Sharon "Boomer" Valerii
    >Lieutenant Starbuck -> Kara "Starbuck" Thrace
    >Lieutenant Athena -> Sharon "Athena" Agathon
