Is Breaking Bad the only show to actually have a good ending? It seems like every other show either declined massively in quality in its final seasons or just fumbled the finale and concluded unsatisfactorily....
What does /teevee/ think?
Ape Out Shirt $21.68 |
it would probably be hated if released in 2022
No there have been good endings to long running shows..
Walt should've never become the biggest most badass meth dealer in existence with a gorillion dollars and the power to inadvertently kill hundreds in a plane crash.
>the power to inadvertently kill hundreds in a plane crash
Walt had nothing to do with that crash, Jane would have ended up dying from an OD at some point regardless and the same situation would have occurred eventually
It's more Jessie's fault than anything if you really get down to it. His influence is what made her start back up again (though she may have regardless). All Walt did was stand by and do nothing. Not exactly good, but not evil either. You can tell he wants to intervene, he even begins to before stopping himself. He only allowed her to die for practical reasons. She was blackmailing him for hundreds of thousands of dollars and there was no reason to believe some junkie b***h wasn't just gonna blow all the money and be back in six months blackmailing him again. He got the monkey off his back early. Jessie is the one who let it out of its enclosure.
That's pretty much exactly how I feel, I was just too lazy to type it all out lol. I'm surprised most people believe Walt was solely responsible for that
I would argue he's not responsible for it at all, honestly. It's supposed to be this huge thing that he's all fricked up mentally about and ultimately he wouldn't have even been involved if he hadn't shown up at that exact moment to get the meth. The crash would have happened regardless of whether he came over or not (we know he wouldn't save her, you know, cause we saw him already not save her.)
Walt made the right move. Got rid of a problem for once without killing it. Instead he just let it die on its own.
Star Trek TNG had a kino finale.
So did Babylon 5.
Granted those are from 30 years ago you didn't specify a time.
Is it "good" writing to just write the last few eps to be exactly what everyone expects it to be because you're afraid to take risks? I was bored to death.
TNG is the only other non sitcom I can currently think of.
>he never watched Six Feet Under
Getting through the whole of Six Feet Under is worth it for that last 15 mins
i liked SFU too but god damn rewatched some of it and it was pretentious as frick
six feet under has the best finale of any show ever
Not just great, but actually carries the whole show tier:
Nathan For You
Twin Peaks: The Return
Evangelion
Stuck the landing tier:
The Leftovers
The Americans
LOGH
Mad Men
House
DS9
And sometimes there is a great and conclusive ending hidden in the middle of the show.
The Young Pope (don't watch the new pope)
Doctor Who (ending with S10E12 The Doctor Falls)
Murdoch Mysteries (ending with S05E13 Twentieth Century Murdoch)
Homecoming (don't watch season 2)
Mr. Robot (don't watch the final episode)
House one was ok but I wouldn't call it good or great.
You need to stop The Doctor Falls 5 mins before the end for the actual perfect ending
>Mr. Robot (don't watch the final episode)
Actually, it's better if you just don't watch any of them.
I remember when some homosexual friend of mine said "duuuude you'll love this show" and forces me to watch the pilot and there's almost direct quoting of Marx in the dialogue. From what I've heard about the rest of the show it all sounds pretty gay, even the narrative stuff that has nothing to do with politics.
>Nathan For You
>Twin Peaks: The Return
>Evangelion
one of these is not like the others
Obviously one is a kids cartoon but I think they are quite similar and all beloved by the same sort of terminally online fool.
Sopranos
I simultaneously believe that the ending of the Sopranos was genius as well as a giant cop-out by the writers.
Breaking Bad's final season was horrible. It was redeemed by the finale.
so it had a good ending then?
Depends what you consider an ending, a final scene or a final season. Forcing a neo-nazi plot when we've never heard anything about them is stupid.
i liked the bsg ending of giving up most technology and going back to living in the dirt and cabins and shit
The levels of ridiculous mounting back broke are unprecedented. There is nothing good about it besides the episode fly. With better call saul everything have become clear now, the whole show is shit and luck, the soundtrack and ways they use music should be studied by the CIA though, that is the true "good" of the show, how the soundtrack cons you, and warps your mind into thinking that shit is good. It is not.
>There is nothing good about it besides the episode fly.
Fly is a gay bottle episode and I skip it every time I rewatch the show. The point its trying to make is made about 15 mins into the whole ordeal. But I have to sit there for an hour while this homie runs around the basement doing wacky tricks to kill a fly. I get it, pride, ego, purity of product, blah blah blah. Just shut the frick up and keep the story moving, Vince.

Filtered every single time.
Do you even know what filtered means, newbie? I understood the content. I just thought it was overindulgent. After a few more years of lurking, you'll eventually be able to post. Don't worry.
The Shield's final ending is probably one of its best
black sails
Enterprise has a goo ending....its not the very last episode but it's a great ending.
Most of Trek endings were kino (voyager left people hanging) until the modern era.
