Pretty much, yeah. Incredibly high concentration of cute girls, and you always have an in by virtue of going to the same school. You’d actually have to actively try not to get laid.

      depends on the school
ended up going to an engineering school that even with the other majors added on was about 70% male class body
a run of the mill state school would be different though

It depends on how social you are. Went to a school in Boston and even the engineering girls put out. It starts in interview weekend and orientation and continues til graduation if you put yourself out there. Didn't go to the major engineering schools, but still met a ton of STEM girls from other schools because of all the colleges in the area.

really depends on the school and what you're there for. if you're a football player at a D1 school? i don't think movies come close to portraying that kind of debauchery. are you an engineering student who commutes to a smaller college? that's going to be more like a demanding job except you're the paying money.

i went to a smaller liberal arts college in new england. this was a while ago but, at the time, it wasn't anything like a d1 school. it was in a rural area, got pretty cold in the winter, and parties were seldom more than a few people hanging out in a dorm or apartment. i think i spent most weekends in the library until my senior year. that's when i went to the one and only house party i've ever been to and got slapped by a girl so hard i almost lost consciousness.

I commuted to school to save money and so I wouldn't have to live there as the prospect terrified me. I tried my best to make friends in clubs and stuff but nothing took. I generally avoided girls like the plague as I was very scared of them. I had a crush on this one girl in my English class who was nice to me, and was in a club with her, but I stopped going because I was afraid to mess up what little we had. I graduated over a decade ago and I still have dreams where I'm failing some class or have flunked out.

It's not a generational thing. It's a clear trend that started somewhere around 2001 and has only gotten worse every year. It literally is getting worse by the day with no end in sight and new record lows for fertility rates and sex posted every year.

went to a state college in PA and lived across the street from a cornfield with a ton of kids in an apartment complex. Really had to make our own fun and it was a blast. It had a main street with 3 or 4 bars so you would run into a lot of people through the course of an evening. I wouldn't trade it for anything but 4 years was enough.

    >Is college in the US really as fun as the movies portray?

No. It was the most miserable time of my life. The parties I went to were all pathetic debauched hedonism for immature and insecure people trying to impress each other with how much they can overindulge. At 18 and 19 it seemed cool by 21 it was just pathetic.

I was told to go to college to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and it was the single worst piece of advice I ever received. If you don't have a specific degree and career in mind don't go to college, you'll just end up washing out a depressed wreck.

i went to college at a time when it was a lot cheaper, though still expensive, and it was simply what you were supposed to do after high school. i'm happy i was able to get an education but i really shouldn't have gone. for me, it was a waste of time and money and there are plenty of others who could have benefited far more than i did.

I went to class and then went home to my apartment. Sometimes I talked to people, but only if I had to. That's it. You have to join the homosexual little clubs and shit if you want to "hang" out with people and socialize/meet girls to eventually get into parties or whatever.

Also btw I worked to support my way through college. So I didn't have lots of time to socialize even though I'm a super introvert.

Kinda. I live in a city with the state University and two private schools. The frat blocks party consistently year round but everywhere else is relegated to a few weeks a year but it's not a coincidence that the two downtown areas are within a five minute walk to all the schools. My entire town is liquor stores, bars, and vape/pot shops which has been nice for a while but as I'm getting older the amount of college kids trashing shit and leaving puke puddles in the street is becoming annoying. That and we have no where to employee them all so it's kept wages down and cost of living really high since everyone wants to live off campus and 18 year olds don't know how to ask their boss for more money.

Nah. It's nothing crazy, but I'm not surprised it sounds just like somewhere else. The demographics of cities like mine must be pretty uniform so a lot of low wage low skill jobs mixed with really high skill high wage jobs. it's hard to get into lower middle class here since we just don't have the people for it. We've got two major insurance companies, two auto plants, and a slew of large to small medical practices. So if you're not in the medical field, working for the insurance companies, or killing yourself at the auto plant you have retail and food service. I've been trying to figure out why our homeless population has exploded this year. We used to have maybe one neighborhood bum per like 20 blocks but now it's every five minutes I see a new one. I missed the old days of Jerry the bum who played metal music too loud and Mike who was really chill and just wanted coffee and cigarettes.

I went to a small liberal arts school and the parties were pretty wild. the school bought the cops new SUVs so they never came on campus or bothered students.

We had fraternities and sororities, less ritualistic shit but plenty of partying. Usually parties were Thurs, Fri, Sat, but you could honestly find people to get drunk or high with every night of the week.

Since it was a small school, everyone basically knew each other and you could talk to anyone or just show up to most parties.

On top of this, the school didn't punish partying. They had a health center for people who got sick, and never disciplined anyone for drinking.

I guy on my floor got caught with a giant jar of weed in the first week of school. They let him off with a warning kek. If it wasn't racism or harassment they didn't bother with it.
