i remember getting into nuwho when i was in my early 20's, and i liked it because it seemed like fun romp trash that tried to have SOME semblance of a ruleset for the character, went on all the way to smith and then something changed. along with the change of the show starting to cater to weird nerd girl fantasy shit, i started noticing that ugly as frick dyke-y co workers and bugmen male feminist allies started drolling on about how amazing the show is. they had tardis tattoos and they were polyamorous and all this fricking shit, this was like 2012-2013 mind you. It was right about that time that i did the whole "well i can like the show and not the fanbase", but then it went on so long that the fricking insufferable fanbase infiltrated the production staff, and somewhere right at the beginning of capaldi's run it just completely tanked in quality. plot holes, dead end plots, random cuts to scenes we did not need to see, handwave explanations for shit that go beyond timeywimey bullshit, logical errors, etc. etc. etc. it just got worse and worse.
i just let them have it. i grew up way past this shit and while i'll always have a soft spot for the early nu-who shit, there's a particular air of early 2000's in that show that was like the last breath of what life was like before the internet really took off that you just can't find anymore. it's depressing to think that as you continue watching the show, it starts to reflect just how degenerate things in the real world started getting.

I would say there's no seething hatred you can feel from the show for white people or white men specifically. It dipped into that territory when that first 60th special came around, but it seems to have avoided it afterwards.

I'm pretty sure Doctor Who has been dead for a long-time, appearing neither to the masses as family entertainment or to its hardcore fanbase. To compare it to Star Wars it has had multiple Last Jedi moments: making the character a woman, doing nothing with the gender-change, completely rewriting the character's backstory, the desperation in bringing back Tennant, casting a black guy simply for their agenda - probably a bunch of others things I don't know about. Terrible viewership (which I assume includes a sizeable proportion of people hate watching it) and it has no real presence in the zeitgeist beyond people saying it is shit. Just another causality in a long-list of destroyed franchises.
