Is his Hollywood career a fluke? He just got lucky with Fast 5. His career was going nowhere prior to that.

I think everything he did before Fast Five was enjoyable enough. Since then he's only really had Pain & Gain

the rock is one of the few non-nepo stars who can truly say they adapted to every industry they entered in to the best of their business strategy. it's been confirmed he fired his entire previous team for not understanding his vision and has amassed hundreds of millions to billions of dollars worth of money.

not a single person in the upper class is self made. its a lie they tell you so you wont revolt, so you think maybe someday it could be you. you just need to work harder, be better, ect ect.

Your statement does not refute what he said, chances are their success is still related to nepotism is some way. Its not what you know, its who you know.

This. My friend has wealthy parents that gave him a company. I call out his bullshit every time he tells me to work harder. I do, but people pretend they didn’t have a boost to help them out.

He acts like he's the Schwarzenegger of this generation but he'll never be more than a cringe 2 bit actor as long as he refuses to use guns and makes nothing but safe movies.

He has the confidence and charisma of a 90's A-lister, the money that comes with it, and less range or talent than a run of the mill LA waiter at Olive Garden whose been hoping for his big break.

I wonder if people just give him roles because they're afraid he'll beat the shit out of them.

Nah. He's a good action star unfortunately Hollywood makes CGI suck fests instead of real action movies now and has for pretty much his whole career so no one will ever talk about him in the same breath as Arnold or Stallone. He'll go down like Chuck Norris as someone people like but who never really had a great part.

Yes, I guess he knows how to market himself since he was/is the highest paid actor while only having played in dogshit movie who hardly break even, don't know how he hasnt been called on that yet. His most memorable movie was Pain and Gain and he wasn't the lead actor there.

It had such promise. He started off in a role in the second Mummy movie and that spawned his own film. After that, Walking Tall and The Rundown came out and those were great flicks. He had a long string of stinkers including The Tooth Fairy until he fired his agent and got a new one and began climbing to the top of megastardom.

But man, has he ever been shitting the bed. Jumanji was the last one I had seen him in and he had been doing movies up until that point that barely even came on the radar. He finally gets into the superhero genre and his career took the biggest L he ever had to face and it mentally broke him.
