Is it just me or did the earlier Marvel movies seem more mature and fleshed out? Nowadays the new Marvel movies have no substance and rely on quippy lines and peepeepoopoo humor to make it entertaining?

lil bit
I hate superhero movies but the first Ironman is one of the only ones I remember enjoying. Probably because it was an actual movie and not a rollercoster ride designed for the Chinese.
Iron Man's suit still looks great.
mechanical suit always looked and sounded better
i forgot how great RDJ's floating head and eyeliner looked, it really makes me believe he isn't a midget
Too much CGI
Yeah, I loved the industrial design of it. The nanotech suits in the latter movies looked so fake, maybe because we've never seen technology like it in real life.
Thwy got nothing to show off in the anniversary since its all CGI.
This scene from 2008 still looks better than the shit marvel puts out now.
Ironman the Killer. No cringe Downey Jr. jokes. Straight to business. Based. This is what they took from us.
It's inertia.
Before they had to actually develop characters to make you care about them so you'd watch the next movies.
Now they can just put out Marvel Movie #474768 and you'll watch because it's what it is.
Always happens like that in any era of cinema. Or indeed in any area of human endeavors. It's always cyclical.
this plus the characters were all white so western audiences instinctively related and cared about them more.
Joss Whedon doing Avengers instead of Favreau was the turning point. Everyone became really quippy in that movie, and then the unexpected success of Guardians solidified that as the Marvel style, to the detriment of all.
Iron Man was a breath of fresh air from black leather X-Men and humorless Nolan Batman, because RDJ was quippy and having a good time on camera. Avengers 2012 was still in line with the rest of Phase 1, but Iron Man 3, Age of Ultron and GotG opened the door to moronic quipfests that attracted morons like Walkietalkie Cohen
ps. Winter Soldier is fricking boring and way too self-serious, it's a Nolan movie if Nolan knew how to direct action
Whedon is part of the problem. "Okay, now let's all direct like Whedon!" is the rest.
Yeh frick GotG
Earlier movies actually followed the comics better in tone at least
They've obviously been dumbed down and kiddified even more to reach a wider audience
>haha look at the nerd
>we gave him the big guy potion
>wow look he’s so jacked
>even makes womens pussies wet
>and here’s Red Hitler
yeah they were really mature well written adult stories for grown ups like you OP
They all fricking sucked.
Why doesnt the us gov just like a million Captain Americas
when everyone is super, no one is
The explanation is that the guy who created the serum died and left no instructions or anything recorded on how to make the serum. Governments kept experimenting on their own and we got guys like the Winter Soldier and Wolverine though.
where you been? they tried re-creating the super serum which led to the hulk
not reading gay ass comics lmao
looks like they thought of everything
i didn't say anything about reading the comics
You asked why. Anon gave you an explanation which was in the source material, the gay ass comics. Stupid moron.
The next guy they gave it to turned into a big green monster
I don’t know why nobody tried in the interim 75 years between those 2 though, especially if they had spare vials, and the Dr that insisted on Steve was dead, it’s not like the US Army would feel obligated to never go against his wishes.
Out of universe, blah blah when everyone is super. In universe, there was some unknown fluke that let it work, when they try it now it just kills the person, or fricks them up. The villain in that Ed Norton Hulk movie they've forgotten about was actually given the Captain America juice.
I'm happy ed Norton didnt stay in those movies
don't particularly care for norton but his hulk was so much more brutal. current hulk is just a giant ass cuck.
No they were always moronic trash. Frick off.
First wave of MCU capeshit used Nolan and Batman Begins as the blueprint (according to Favreau and Feige themselves). Later on, Whedon and Gunn's style became prominent.
because disney
Well there was a lot more white flesh in them if that's what you mean.
I blame the success of the trasformers movies.
Watching them in-universe chronologically as background noise while I work on some models, and I was actually thinking Phase 1 has much more heart. Yeah, it has a few quips here and there, but there's balance. With Thor 4 fresh in memory, every other line was a fricking quip. It gets old, and they're not funny. The earlier movies had to really develop characters over time across multiple films.
Paramount era MCU was pretty good. They should have went with Cap and Howling Commandos a bit more.
paramount not disney
They realised that Tony Stark's personality (jokey and shit) was the money maker, so they copied and pasted that into every character
