Stop being dumb. It's not just an "extra large bomb". This shit kicks up tons of dust that is now radioactive and spreads it everywhere. And its effects last for decades. Somewhere completely unrelated will have contaminated groundwater/surface and elevated cancers for a long time

  3. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

No. Journos and writers vastly overestimate the capability of nuclear warheads. That's because of the paranoia created during the cold war. Now everyone believe a couple nukes would turn earth into a radioactive wasteland.

The radioactive contamination wouldn't even travel that far around the impact site. It could seep into the water table but if you're in the mountains that is a nonexistent worry.

        >Cinemaphile losers have gotten so contrarian that their position is now that nuclear weapons aren't a big deal

this is part of the package deal that comes with the youtube algorithm. they start with fake moon landing conspiracies, then its "the illuminati and free masons altered our perception of time so that we think we're in 2022 but really we're 900 years behind" and shortly after that it's all "nukes are a world-wide conspiracy designed to keep people in a state of micro-anxiety so they'll remain compliant and do what we want when we finally lift the curtain and reveal the ***GREAT RESET***"

there are some interesting research papers about this, but ultimately we're going to have a problem in the near future where a good percentage of the population throws in the intellectual towel and decides to dismantle academic institutions on the basis of fear and insecurity. posters like

nukes dont exist and are just psywar. its why they didnt let macarthur drop 40 of them on china before anybody supposedly had them.

dont understand the concept of nuclear energy, and so when they attempt to read up on it they get confused and angry because to them its indecipherable. and then they start to let other thoughts creep in, things like "maybe they're lying about it" and this strokes the ego, because now "maybe im not confused, maybe its all just a lie!" and that makes their dopamine spike, they are relieved because they're not so fricking dumb after all.

i feel sorry for them tbh. but it does make them feel important in their otherwise unimportant lives, which probably keeps them from seeking that elsewhere in maybe violent or perverted ways. this way they're just a nuisance online with their bullshit confirmation bias.

              >admits defeat
              Thank you.
No, the paper which put the nuclear winter hypothesis was funded by communists. It decided on its answer and worked backwards from there. The end result was a model used that was deeply flawed. In this model the majority of the earth’s landmass was assumed to be arid desert. It was also assumed that both sides would use all their nukes and target pretty much the entire globe. Lastly it was assumed that every nuke in the arsenal was far larger than in reality.
So no, it is not a “logical assumption.” Yes, it is fiction and yes, it is fiction that exists solely to propagandise and reduce the west’s will to fight. Even wikipedia acknowledges it is fiction.

I think his point is that the West false flagged Nord Stream to start war drums against Russia; just like how Vietnam was started by a false flag. Or how the government basically allowed Pearl Harbor and 911 as an excuse to go to war.

Point is they're trying to psyop you. Also do you actually trust the government, Establishment, elites, whatever?

If Nord Stream was a false flag, it's nowhere near parallel with any of those events, or the Lusitania. Americans have no skin in the game with it either. I believe the government can be deceptive for it's purposes, but a reasonably intelligent and skeptical person can generally suss out the bullshit. Too many people on this site live in a fantasy world however because they've swung too far into absurd skepticism in reaction to the constant noise and lies of the news landscape

                >Americans have no skin in the game with it either.
It's conclusively cut away Russia's main leverage over Germany, who have been growing increasingly frustrated over committing economic suicide for the sake of American hegemony and were seeing increasing pressure from the public probably echoed by Russian shillstbf to wind back the sanctions and make a deal for NS2 to be reopened. Now they can't actually make that deal, at least not for the next however-many-months it'll take to repair it (by which point we'll be well past winter so demand for gas won't be as high). Russia's foot has been forced out of the door, and Germany will now have to go back in to America's arms

Sorry, I meant it's not an event that effects/could rile up the American populace. Thanks for the rundown. I hadn't really kept up with the latest on that, only that it would be idiotic for Russians to blow it up. Nor have I really closely looked at the German gas situation. How bad is this winter supposed to be for Germans without Russia's natural gas?

Not him but Germany has already forced factories to close or already scale back production. No idea whether they resolved their coal barge problem. The government have already labelled anyone critical of decades of chronic energy mismanagement as “enemies of the state”.

And planned infrastructure around the idea that there was unlimited gas supply from Russia, that next useless “green” energy wouldn’t cause it own problems and not building more nuclear (long before Fukushima they were dragging their feet on investing more). There’s a delusion in German politics that they can tame the bear, they even have a word for it though it escapes me right now.

                >How bad is this winter supposed to be for Germans without Russia's natural gas
Well, before this year's invasion, around 15% of Germany's energy production was from gas power stations. A little more than half of that gas came from Russia, so right away that's a good 7.5% of Germany's energy production compromised.
Then there's the coal, which is another 10% of Germany's grid and, once again, more than half of Germany's coal comes from Russia, so that's 12.5% compromised (plus all the damage that'll do to the steel industry, worsening Germany's ecnomic situation).
Beyond that, there's the knock-on effect of Russia's supply being withdrawn resulting in greater demand for gas and coal from other countries. Now there's more people trying to by Finnish or Qatari gas despite supply remaining constant, so prices are going up rapidly. The result being that they're going to have to spend a frickload of money to plug the gap.
                It's not good

Are you sure about those figures? They seem rather low. Also, I’d add the coal logistics problem they face over the summer. Coal was coming into Rotterdam then being stored in depots along rivers and canals. The low rainfall and low volume of water in the waterways means they have a big back log in the supply chain, meaning that while they own a lot of coal it’s in the wrong place. Not sure how that situation has progress over the last 6 weeks.

                >They seem rather low.
Germany has been pouring money into renewables for the last 30-odd years, and honestly has really strong hydroelectric and biomass generation. Although there is an extent to which the official numbers for things like solar and wind are being cooked by presuming ideal conditions, so fossil fuels probably are a bit higher than that. Although even with low numbers, that's still 1/8th of German energy production completely fricked
