How is season 1 good? Tried watching it several times and it's just boring shit fake bong accents, boring setting, dumb goofy CGI monster blueballing à la Lost bust worse

this was a celebrated show on Cinemaphile while it was airing, the threads were amazing

I swear Cinemaphile is just a water cooler for socially awkward people. You guys just watch stuff because everyone else is watching it, and whether or not the TV show or movie is Cinemaphile-approved depends entirely upon whether it spawns good memes or some shills/schizos are willing to force the memes for months after release

Yes, no shit. I need extra help to get into a completely different show that is not at all related to its first season.

Yeah the mister kinda ruined it for me. They could’ve done so many things, instead they went with le killer polar bear.

It has tons of soul though.

The polar bear monster is fine, I just coudln't get over how the show expected me to believe eskimo magic was real.

Anon I have bad news, that show wasn't real either

I enjoyed Season 1, but I also agree that the monster was totally unnecessary. I don't think it ruined the show, but I think it could have just been a regular polar bear instead of some magic eskimo monster that kept hunting them.

I've watched the North Water and that was okay. I haven't seen Season 2 of this show yet, and I'm also curious if it's okay.

Again season 2 is a totally different and unrelated show adapting a novel by someone else by a completely different crew, a different director and writing staff, in a completely different setting, with a completely different tone, and doesn't touch on any of the same themes. They're totally unrelated but they called it season 2 because it was the same network and that adaptation of the terror did so well that they thought they might trick that audience into watching their other series if they used the title and called it season 2.

Season 2 is a completely different tone to season 1. I didn't finish season 1 because it lost my interest. Season 2 had more Japanese horror moments and I liked it for that. Not great though.

Don't they fight some kind of alien monster in season 2? The frick is up with that?

I really liked S1, watched most of S2 but didn't finish. I'm a huge fan of movies/shows where people get stranded and slowly losw control so S1 was right up my alley. It's not for everyone because it's a slow burner

The Terror is a standalone and complete show. Its name shouldn't have anything to do with any other show trying to ride off of its success.

This. I mean the name of the show is the name of the fricking ship, the fact that they tried to make a season 2 under the same name yet totally unrelated was downright moronic.

it's like imagine if Cheers was a single season complete story but then they decided to make a Cheers season 2 that had nothing to do with the bar or any of the characters or any of the same themes or subject matter, like they made a show about gay cartoon rabbits or some shit and called it "Cheers season 2"
        fricking ridiculous

    >Or does it follow down the path of fargo and true detective?
Worse, it's a completely different show made under the same name as an "anthology" with absolutely nothing tying it to the first season. And I don't just mean in a continuity sense either, totally different writers/producers/etc

Had great times checking in on Cinemaphile after each episode and at the time watched it with my best friend, who I'd definitely consider a brother even still, though we no longer speak because of a broad and my drunken rambling about said broad.

It is literally the completely different show. They just plastered the name Terror on it, it is entirely different production team and has nothing to do at all with the original.

    >Executive producer Max Borenstein added: “As a history-buff and genre geek (not to mention a conscious American today), it’s clear that truth is always scarier than fiction…This season of The Terror uses as its setting one of the darkest, most horrific moments in our nation’s history. The Japanese-American internment is a blemish on the nation’s conscience — and one with dire resonance to current events.
It was literally made as a response to the Trump era kids in cages meme. Killed the franchise.
