He can't but as seen in the new Battlefront games he can use the force to jump high, guide himself and descend slowly which he could've used to cross. This ability would make sense for "prime Vader" like they kept saying and is more believable than those stupid inquisitor lightsabers. Or he could use the force to blow out the flames or depower them or something. For all this talk about the power of the force it's pretty useless.

No homosexual. You are the type to kill your only lead on something.

Capturing obi wan=torture then death. Obi wan would die before giving up info on other Jedi, Luke and leia.

He let him go so they can find out where obi wan runs to, lead to other Jedi and why obi wan came out of hiding.

    >Luke, did I ever tell you about the time Lord Vader, or Darth as I call him, and I reunited 10 years after you were born? It was back when he was almost not a learner but also not yet a master. When he caught up with me after I skillfully evaded him 3 times in a row, he dragged my decrepit body over inflamed combustible crystals to give me a taste of of my own medicine. You see, back when we were even gooder friend than we are now, I dismembered him and left him to burn alive in an act of gracious Jedi mercy, and he wanted to pay back. Luckily my Jedi robes did not instantly combust like his did back in the days (I had learned from the experience and prepared for this exact scenario by regularly dowsing them with eopie’s urine, look it up, it’s on wookiepedia). Despite suffering third degree burns to my torso, my hands and face were spared despite being millimeters away from the flaming combustible. Otherwise you would be looking at the same disfigured face I gave good old Darth. However my sacrifice was not in vain, as your sister that I had just rescued managed to escape for 3 minutes before being caught again. (She would soon forget my existence and only refer to me as her father’s friend that she never met) Luckily a good friend I had just met and already forgotten about saved me by shooting one random stormtrooper out of dozens. Despite many ways get to me and his long awaited opportunity for revenge, Darth just stood there and let me go. It was all in good fun after all, there was no need to take it further. I would soon meet him again in a later episode of Kenobi of Disney + (he was still almost not a learner but not quite yet a master).
    >You know Luke, despite having experienced your Fathe… I mean Darth’s cruelty first hand, both by the torture he inflicted on me and by witnessing his killing of children, I would still grant him my full forgiveness and eternal life if the chance presented itself. Why you ask? Because he was a good friend.

They advertised the lightsbaber fights as being more like the prequels but this one was as shaky and choppy as the sequels. The order 66 scene wasn't bad, hopefully things get better.
Also kinda miss the little trails lightsabers had on them when you moved them around, they're way less prominent here and make things look less fluid.

see even the faceblind autist got it by the shots and music cue

Based, but I honestly took it had a moment of inner conflict. Conflicted at facing his hated enemy at last and finding him to be not the top tier Jedi Master who kicked his ass, but weak and beaten down as frick... Conflicted at seeing his old Master and hating himself because with, deep down, he feels their old bond. Deciding between ending it right now or enjoying the hunt and suffering of Kenobi a little longer...
That's what I took from the micro-movements during the long close shot over the fire. But again, I'm an autist and Chow doesn't seem that competent.

I find it perfectly in character for the Anakin "You're asking me to be rational. I know that is something I cannot do" fricking Skywalker. Unless you're one of those "but badass Vadar is from the cashgrab comics and videgames would've just force crush everyone", it's in line for his character arc from the movies. Dreaming obsessively of that moment of revenge for 10 years, then freezing because something isn't working how he fantasized, mainly seeing his feared and hated master/brother in such a state.

Do you want to know why??

      >Executive Producer - Ewan McGregor

THAT'S why. His new wife is in the show, his daughter is in the show; the problem with Obi-Wan is Obi-Wan himself.

He is making himself a Space Jesus show in which Obi-Wan will have no real character development and will instead be an insufferable Mary-Sue by the end as actors with egos cannot add to the creative process in a way that fairly disconnects themselves from the perceived character and their flaws.

The show is being tailored around him and his newfound internet, "Hello there" meme crowd so it's catering towards those who don't care about lore or anything like that.

This show is bad. The actors, including Ewan, are all pretty bad and wooden. The cinematography has no room to breathe before being violently shook all over the place. Dialogue is REALLY bad and the set designs look cheap.

This is a vanity project disguised as a character from one of the most popular franchises of all time. It's crammed full of diverse artists without stopping to realize that if someone's only quality is being diverse, they are doing them a disservice by allowing them to make bad content as it then closes any sort of discussion about their work being sub par or worse since it gets lumped into the overall "racism" crap that simply isn't the case.

It's only going to get worse.

I'm not terribly into the show or anything, but it's obvious that the scene with the fire was a moment of emotional conflict in Vader. He's spent ten years of his life waiting for this moment and, not only is it completely anti-climactic and unsatisfying for him, he gets a taste of seeing someone he still loves deep down (because we know "there's still good in him") suffer like he did. There's too much apocrypha now for Vader to be portrayed as a badass emotionless robot in everything: he's an understandably incredibly traumatized person.

That was the first film and it was retconned in it's literal direct sequel. Everything that happens in Star Wars '77 needs to be read through a lens of retcons now if you give a shit about the franchise. Some do, some don't, but in discussing the new Disney shit shows we can't really point to '77 for all that much in terms of character motivation. Also, even back then that was just poor choreography. Very poor. Alec Guinness' gay little spin.

Good job not being able to follow the plot at all. You don't have a right to complain if you don't understand the most basic shit that happened.

That is so valid. One time I was called a homosexual for playing with my boyfriend's penis at a bar and it still traumatizes me to this day so I understand what Vader was going through.

losing several limbs and being left to burn in lava by your mentor is exactly the same as being caught playing with dick
        you sure are a homosexual

    His suit is fricking fireproof.
He bathes in Mustafar lava in one of the canon and approved comics. In the spot where he burned.
But who the frick knows about that in the Obi Wan writing room? He's a dude in a black suit and shiet.

There are only 2 sith though. So anyone who is a sith is a darth.
The other lesser jobbers are called inquisitors.

They did let more join but they get around letting them be sith by calling them inquisitors.
A trend that Dooku started with Ventris.

Yes so the Darth title seems to be reserved to the "heir" or main apprentice of Sidious

          >Inquisitors
Those are just Filoni's donut steel fanfiction OCs inserted into the nu-canon. They're just edgelord Dark Jedi.

Filoni was in charge of the canon for awhile though it seems someone probably hackleen kennedy is trying to wrest control from him. Probably because he was salvaging star wars and she can't have that.

It's a Sith Lord title designated to an apprentice under a master of the Sith tradition. It's derived from "Dark Lord" and comes from the old Sith language. That's all it is.

Pretty sure it's just his first name. Obi-wan says he's "only master of evil, Darth". Just like Count Dooku, it's not a title, he doesn't have another first name, his first name is Count.

Vader obviously could have walked through the fire if he wanted. The fact that he didn't implies he let obi wan get away.
Its up to you if you think its because he doesn't really want to kill obi wan because of le inner good, or if its because he wanted obi wan to suffer more, of it its because he wanted obi wan to lead him to the rebels.

You guys should compete in the mental gymnastics Olympics. You would totally win.

Have you people ever interacted with a human being in your lives? Yes, when you get betrayed by someone you love, you don't just stop loving them like an on/off switch, and especially after seeing them again for the first time in years a lot of those emotions come flooding back, and when mixed with pent-up rage, it's not odd to just freeze in response. We can talk about how shitty and flat the entire sequence looked or how stupidly it was choreographed, but it makes 100% complete sense that Vader would hesitate to kill Obi-Wan after meeting him for the first time. Vader hasn't been le heckin badass robot man since he asked his son to kiss him in Return of the Jedi.

Or maybe the show is just bad. Maybe he got away the same way the jedi got away in the first episode. or how obiwan got away at the end of the second episode. Or how a small child outran adults multiple times. If Vader was going to do a "just as planned" and let them escape to track them, the script wouldn't have had to have Leia get captured again.

    >I know, let's use some generic music and certainly not the theme that's gone hand in hand with the character for all of his previous appearances

It's like they want this show to feel like fanfiction even more than it already does, don't they ?
How the frick can you set up Vader and forego his fricking iconic theme ? This has to be some kind of huge elaborate joke, it has to be.
