      [...]
the thing is, its just "making fun of both sides" enough that midwits would think that those are on their side, but its entire stance is "big corporations dont actually like gays or blacks, their wokeism is entirely for profit. They dont do enough. and if they dont say anything at all their silence is deafening". its the most obvious example of their self contradiction ive ever seen, and it doesnt even realize it.

attempts at making fun of corporations for pandering are literally worthless when they show butcher using fricking Amazon in the first episode this season

Yep, their attacks on the left are corrective whereas they despise the right. Embarrassing how many antiwokies are watching this series when Seth Rogen would throw them in prison if he could.

See I just sorta gloss over the political implications because I’m not obsessed with politics and don’t foam at the mouth when there is a clear bias in a business that since it’s infancy has shown a clear bias. The whole “make fun of them as much as us or else I’m gonna be offended by your pozzed show,” mindset is just kinda pathetic. I don’t care about the politics, I care about the humor and the violence and the entertainingly absurd, edgy shock-value which is literally all this show is. Nothing more.

this board is populated by 60IQ Mexican teens who think that "being conservative" is mocking SJWs every now and then. Cobra Kai is one of the most Pozzed shows I've ever seen, but because they mock Twitter and feminists every now and then, this whole fricking board thinks it's "le based kino"

you dint think those could be simultaneously true? that one could virtue signal in ways that are ultimately ineffective? the prescription would be, be less guided by profit and do things that actually matter. there is nothing contradictory about this

          Anonymous

the contradictory part is that they expect faceless corporations to virtue signal just enough that they know theyre an ally but not enough that its tasteless. its pickiness at its core and corporations shouldnt need to be public about their political leanings at all. the fact of the matter is that black and gay people care so much about whether or not nestles twitter profile picture is blacked out (at least to the point that companies fear the backlash if they dont), but couldnt give two fricks about their literal child slavery. all political correctness is selfish and these people are just dopamine junkies that want to see the world change around them.

Why does OG Stillwell and Edgar put so much effort into a job that could have them killed at any moment.
Is it just money? Is it power? If so why not be a supe president or work at a normal billion company.

      >Is it just money? Is it power?
Both, though S3 gave Edgar that line about wanting to wipe his hands off this super hero shit in 5 years and make the company into something more legitimate. I never read the comics so I don’t know if Stilwell had similar aspirations, but in the scene with Homelander threatening him he seems more detached than anything we’ve seen from Edgar, who seems like a stereotypical butthole CEO.

        Anonymous

As I recall Stilwell had some autistic Elon Musk fantasy of making Vought so powerful that it supplanted world governments as a centralized and unparalleled force of power and would usher Humanity into a period of technological advancement and space colonization
then homelander was insecure and hughie threw butcher off a skyscraper or something

Just watched the first two episodes of this and decided to quit. Too intentionally edgy and gritty. Somehow the "comic myth deconstructed" kinds of stories end up being more hollow and lifeless than the very genre they're trying to satirize and critique.

this was a major critique of the comic, the world is so nihlistic that it manages to come off just as unrealistic and shallow as the shit it parodies.

I watched the first episode of The Boys last night and it was pretty good. But I’m so fricking tired of watching series instead of movies. What I’m asking is should I invest hours and hours of my time into watching this show?

switch gears to a shorter self contained story that's still really enjoyable and has a solid ending without dragging past a season
fargo or true detective for example

I really got into Ozark because during the lockdown bullshit I would go to my parents’ house every Sunday and watch it with my dad, but they took too long to come out with season 4 and I dropped Netflix after I watched Cuties and there was zero nudity in it. When I was a kid I was into Freaks And Geeks and that show flat out stopped in the middle of it. I got into Walking Dead until it became unwatchable garbage. I just can’t invest myself in series anymore and that’s all there is now.
Anyway, everybody keeps telling me I’d like True Detective so that’s what I’ll watch.

Ozark is relatively long, that's why I didn't recommend BrBa or BCS. Both Fargo and True Detective are anthologies so each season is a self contained story sharing various common themes and motifs while remaining separate plot-wise. I really think you'd dig True Detective if you just poured this weekend into binging it

I’ve watched every episode of Breaking Bad twice. Favorite show. It was another series where I spent time watching it with my dad, but the thing is we had to wait a week for each episode. Now they just let you stream every episode whenever you want and for some reason watching a series feels like more of a chore because I’m trying to get through the entire show as quick as possible and when it turns to shit I feel like I have to keep dredging through it. But yeah, I need to see Top Gun Maverick and then season 1 of True Detective.

I like how this season Homelander is back to be a fricking menace. They sort of belittled him in S2 and made him a joke about muh white male fragility and mommy complex, but now he's full psycho and in control. I know they'll have him made a fool once again, but for now it's nice to see that they are once again afraid of him.

did we even get to see what super sonic's abilities look like?

no but I think that's supposed to be part of the point/joke, he's such a no-name naive idiot he didn't even use his powers - just danced on stage and got splattered

Didnt finish the episode yet. I imagine he's like Black Bolt from Marvel

just looked it up. apparently he claps really loud and it produces a blackbolt like effect but like a water gun in comparison. vs HL poor bastard might as well have been the deep.
