He's wrong about both and he's a sensitive fat frick trying to get progressive brownie points on twitter. Spider-Man's villains are murderers and robbers who put people in danger constantly, they should be made fun of and shamed, because unfortunately in real life that actually works. Trying to talk horrible people out of doing horrible things doesn't, making them feel what they make others experience does.

One of Bendis’s best moments was Ultimate Spidey making fun of Kingpin.

Just because Slott is a fat autist that totally and obviously self-inserts as Ock doesn’t mean Spidey needs to consider the feelings of villains. Especially villains like Ock who have killed people and tried to kill 90% of the planet.

Slott can eat himself, there's plenty of him TO eat after all. The point was never Spider-Man's jokes in and of itself, he always had a fairly cornball and lame sense of humor. The point was how he went up against people who were thieves, terrorists, murders, and would-be conquerors and unmasked them as the petty clowns and playground bullies that they really were deep down from how even Spidey's more obvious and lame jokes punctured their egos like hot-air balloons. It wasn't about how many different ways Spider-Man could call Kingpin fat, it was the fact that for all his posturing of sophistication Wilson Fisk will still react like any of his uneducated goons to petty level grade-school jokes that all the other superheroes pretend they're above puling. The fact that he wrote Spider-Man and doesn't get that says a lot.

I don't give two shits because I like reading shit with big breasts now and again but I don't pretend there isn't five billion manga that boil down to 'I'm a loser herbivore and I own slaves I can rape for pleasure without them abandoning me'

I think that's mostly a language barrier. The harpies can screech at comic writers, but manga writers? Not as easily.
Also the harpies can target the writer's company and the series will continue under a new author. Manga authors have more authority than comic writers.

It's no fun being called a fatty fat, tubso, lardo, Mr Creosote, Pietanic, Senor Lardibarsto, Count Bigmacula, etc. by random buttholes in real life. They’re right that a lot of the humor and writing hasn’t aged well (there’s still a lot of value to be had don’t get me wrong) but I think you kind have to treat that as an inevitable facet of making art in a world where norms and understandings aren’t ever changing. You can, and imo should, try to be forward looking for a better world and not just use what’s currently acceptable as a crutch to write what ever you want but you’re always going to be somewhat influenced by bad the bad ideas of your time even with three best of intentions.
