It's hard to say. The only new ones being made are revivals of old ones and they're infinitely worse. On the flip side while streamers won't reveal their actual numbers by what they spend for re-run rights to Seinfeld, Friends, The Office and Big Bang Theory it can be ascertained that sitcoms still do huge numbers with people rewatching them on streaming services.
Strange they don't try and make new ones however comedy as a whole has been struggling for a while.

It's hard to be funny while being politically correct.

i think comedy must be so fucking terrifying to do these days. unless you're a niche comedian with obvious shock humour, you have so many egg shells to tip toe around.

Many comedians have stopped even trying to be funny.

          Agreed.

I'm ready for the new Puritanical movement to die out. Simply saying "fuck" and talking about weed a lot doesn't mean you're being funny.

I wasn't aware there was conservative comedy. Also, I thought the point of comedy was to make people laugh.

                Laughing is racist.

I'm ok with calling myself racist if "racist" means "enjoys laughing."

                >I thought the point of comedy was to make people laugh.
Comedy is a platform for scolding and ridiculing those with problematic think.
Also, no laughing. Only jazz hands.

The Goldbergs didn't seem to think so. I think it ended this year, but when the subject is a kid, it really can't last forever.

Not to mention its defining feature is being set in one specific decade.
