its interesting to see how organized crime works on a buisness level compared to just low-IQ criminals who don't know what they're doing. Plus there's the fantasy element to it of people wishing they could be wealthy without having to do much work and having power where people are afraid of you.

I haven't seen the show in a decade, but I think the two scenes that I remember the most are the one in your pic where the show is basically saying ghosts are real and Paulie is haunted, and the one where Paulie and Crissy are chasing that slav around the forest and get lost.

Chase's writing for AJ and Meadow hit way too close to home. I had so many relatives just like them back in the day. My own sister is a spitting image of Meadow and damn near followed her arc to a T, only without the fringe mob affiliation. It was beyond exhausting to be within earshot of her during her college days

      >a "no show job"
it's when you suck a dick without showing yourself to potential onlookers, which Vito wasn't able to do.

it's a job where you get paid but never show up to the office. you have a job like "sales rep" that is frequently traveling or some type of remote work, but it's just there as a cover story and a source of reportable income so you don't get busted for tax fraud.

basically, the mob controlled certain unions, and could get construction companies like Massarone Construction to offer a certain amount of no show jobs for the highest ups, and no work jobs (they had to show up at the construction site for appearances sake, but basically spent their entire work hours on break, this is what we see Patsy, Vito, Eugene, etc. doing frequently)

          >One show is a realistic portrayal of crime, policing and politics in Baltimore
no it wasn't. it was mostly meandering nonsense that only got away with it because the audience was falsely lead to believe it was based on real events and people, which it wasn't. the show erroneously made the characters more palatable for the white savior beliefs of leftists which is why people like you love this garbage so much. it never honestly addresses anything. most of the show is boring filter that shit heads like you wave your hand at because "muh realism" which still doesn't make for good television even if true

the fact of the matter is that the wire was hated its entire run time, no one watched it. it wasn't until obama started name dropping the libtard show runner did it become popular due to the obama effect where everything Black person is now 10/10 best thing evar

the wire has no had no influences, no cultural impact, wire threads die right away. no one cares because it sucks, but most of all it's dishonest about what it it is

            >white saviour pandering
almost every single white person in the show is shown to be either incompetent, corrupt, or both. Legit the only exception might be Prez but he's such a minor role he might as well not be there.
            >it never addresses anything
It addresses plenty of things. It does not offer solutions but it never tries to do so either.
            >It's just filler
It being slow paced and not having a lot of big setpiece moments doesn't mean it's filler. A lot of those filler scenes are more interesting than most shows' season finales.

            >no cultural impact
And that's a good thing. It's entertainment, not meant to portray McNulty as a good person, or glorify anything it portrays, good or bad. Meanwhile every fricking fedora wearing neckbeard (you) loves to pretend like they're Tony Soprano or that the show is anything other than the capeshit of drama.
There's a reason everyone likes it. It's low-hanging fruit, it's cheap, badly produced thrills with barely any thought behind them, TV you can turn your brain off to and laugh at how he said the italian word haha so funny.
