The Sequel is kino. The third movie is good. The fourth was meh.
The remake's sequel (or I guess prequel) actually isn't too bad either. They're closer to the classic slasher formula and are generally more edgy/self-serious but they're well done if you're into that shit.

It's legit a good movie but something about the original is still more unsettling even now, and I think it's the really bright lighting and feeling of pervasive heat that makes the experience more uncomfortable. 2003 is really good but the atmosphere is too derivative of early 2000s horror to surpass the original.
I also think Jed is a creepier Leatherface than Tom but that's subjective.
