Is there a reason Bluth could almost never produce a successful film anymore after he's left Disney?

Is there a reason Bluth could almost never produce a successful film anymore after he's left Disney? I don't know all of his works, but it seems that most of his post-Disney ones performed poorly in the box office.

An American Tail and Anastasia are probably his most famous and successful films and both were produced years after he left Disney.

    On a side note

    >Fievel's hometown was the site of sporadic fighting during the Invasion of Ukraine and was one of the first cities to fall to the Russian Army
    >IRL Anastasia's murderers are basically lauded as heroes by the modern Russian state which has basically gone into overdrive with the Neo-Soviet bullshit

How long before we see Bluth's kids try to have them both rebooted after he croaks to capitalize on Russia-bashing?

Land Before Time is probably his most successful, it may not have been a box office smash but look how many sequels there were. It must have made bank at the rental shops

All of Bluth's films got a frick ton of sequels for some reason.

What actually happened to Anastasia was fricked up.

      >death squad finds the family in the cellar
      >leader orders his men to open fire
      >they're untrained and not assigned targets so no shoots the maid or Anastasia
      >realising she hadn't been shot, the maid cries out "it's a miracle, we're saved!"
      >leader says "nah" and orders his men to fire another round at them
      >Anastasia and the maid get shot
      >bodies piled onto a cart to be buried in a pit
      >men doing the burying notice Anastasia is still alive
      >decide to throw her in the pit anyway
      >she dies slowly and painfully among the corpses of her family

No fricking wonder Prince Phillip hated the Russians his whole life.

I'd blame it on distribution, and he kind of went crazy over the years like Richard Rich did (also made a bunch of failures- Swan Princess was a flop but somehow turned into a franchise).

The two Universal films were hits, possibly because of the Spielberg connection (big names do draw in people). All Dogs was a marginal success which allowed Rock-A-Doodle to be made.

The 90s was basically a wild west for animation films because there were so many garbage ones that tried to ape the princess formula or appeal to girls, more so for the home video market. And The Pebble and the Penguin is just a shitload of frick. Drugs were involved there.

pebble and the penguin was the least bad of the nubluth movies.

Didn't say it was bad. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.

Who the hell drew the characters, they all look terrible

Himself probably, sometimes when creators draw their own characters they look wonky compared to the ones done by other animators who polished them

someoen else drew these characters, right? the frick is wrong with charlie? he looks worse than his animates series adaptations

He's 84 years old and probably hasn't drawn some of those characters in decades, he's rusty.

Making films is hard. Especially animation. Especially when you have no money and need to rely on financers and producers.

I'm so happy Mrs. Brisby never turned me into a furry despite me loving this movie as a kid.

Don Bluth made some good movies, some with moderate success
The problem is the current era of animation students who laugh at Bluth for the stinkers he made over the years, ignoring the fact that Disney was going through an era of stinkers and it wasn't until Bluth made his own movies that Disney started copying him, the same way Dreamworks made Shrek and Disney started copying them despite the old joke of Dreamworks copying everything Disney made
