This is the exact reason I would be ok with putting a Yeerk in my brain.

These guys always made me highly suspicious of the symbiote race in Star Trek.

I'm 90% certain that Applegate based the Yeerks on the symbiotes. Animorphs started three years after DS9, and she's commented on being a Trekkie several times.

The Taxxons voluntarily took on Yeerk hosts to control their all consuming hunger.
Taxxons are 6 foot long, heavily armored centipdes.

They don't control shit, anon. Yeerk wage war, war = coprses = Food = willing Taxxons host.

Not even Yeerk can control Taxxons hunger

Realistically what would they do if a total loser became a Controller?
Obviously someone with no status or power wouldn't be their first target in an invasion, but it might be necessary if a loser stumbled upon a Hork-Bajir Controller or some other unexplainable evidence of Yeerks.
Would the Yeerk just keep arguing with strangers online because that's what its host would do, or would it try to be more useful to the invasion by getting a job at some Controller-run company?
How would it convert others? Trying to arrange meetups with people it met on Discord?
How slowly would it have to turn its host's life around in order to not draw suspicion?
Would they, instead of improving the host's life, merely make inhabiting the loser a form of punishment for failures of low-ranking Yeerks?

There are lots of people who just get disappeared so they can serve the Yeerks elsewhere, so they'd end up on a ship or some outpost somewhere.

Their general policy with losers is to make them into complete normies and have them chalk it up to The Sharing, for the good PR, snatching up anyone who gets suspicious and starts looking into the people who got Anon to get a real job, clean his room, dress like an adult and maintain a level gaze with non-family members.
        ...
Thought that leaves me curious if a Yeerk takes up say, an Autistic host, is the resulting Controller Autistic or Neurotypical? Maybe just really really good at running NT Scripts while inwardly cringing from all the non-Autistic behavior he's engaging in?

They will just have a "change of heart" and become a better person. A Yeerk will utilize your memories and relationship but it doesn't have to live 100% your life. That is partly why so many people willingly become Controller, so that they can "improve"

In a world where most people are very ethical, and the government is very ethical and competent, and the government puts a lot of time and effort into preventing mind control from being used unethically... I don't know. Even then I would expect everything to go horribly wrong.

That sort of thinking is why authoritarian strongmen are so effective. It's very seductive.

A functional democracy requires citizens who exemplify self-reliance and civic/moral responsibility. Like in Starship Troopers (the book) but based.

It's because our parents gave us all those vaccines as children
All these cognitive problems and food allergies started after 1989 when they started mass vaxxing kids

That's why autism and food allergies are so rare in people over 40

Telepaths could cure schizophrenia and dementia, addictions, trauma, etc
Of all the superfreaks telepaths being villains makes the least sense since they could become rich from using their powers to treat people

Could they? I think mental desiases have some parts of the brain missing. Also i don't think they could cure depression either.

        Anonymous

Depression is not a mental illness
As for the rest depends on the approach
You could get rid of visual and auditory hallucinations for someone with schizophrenia, you could remove traumatic experiences from someone's memories, you could restrain impulsive behavior from bipolar people and stimulate the memory of someone with dementia, you may never be able to stop seizures from someone with epilepsy but you can do everything medicine does way better for free, without side effects and in one single session

There is absolutely nothing wrong with telepaths. They are all help me good people, who are slandered for please help me no good reason. I for one have had enough of for the love of god help me telepaths being unjustly persecuted, and I'm definitely not saying that because the telepaths are making me say that.

The solution to telepaths is to make your mind such a hostile and uninhabitable place that anyone wjo dares to take a peek starts vomiting up blood and crying. So Cinemaphile should be safe.
